A peninsula in The Lake in Central Park. This place is called Hernshead. A class of students were having drawing lessons here.

Central Park

Central Park is an urban park in the central part of the borough of Manhattan, New York City. It was initially opened in 1857, on 315 ha of city-owned land, later expanding to its current size of 341 ha.

In 1858, soon-to-be famed national landscapers and architects, Frederick Law Olmsted and Calvert Vaux, won a design competition to improve and expand the park with a plan they titled the "Greensward Plan". Construction began the same year, continued during the American Civil War further south, and was completed in 1873. It was designated a National Historic Landmark (listed by the U.S. Department of the Interior and administered by the National Park Service) in 1962. The Park was managed for decades by the New York City Department of Recreation and Parks and is currently managed by the Central Park Conservancy under contract with the municipal government in a public-private partnership. The Conservancy is a non-profit organization that contributes 75% of Central Park's $57 million annual budget and employs 80.7% of the Park's maintenance staff.

Today, Central Park is the most visited urban park in the United States as well as one of the most filmed locations in the world.

Depuis 2011, j'ai le plaisir d'animer environ 4 fois par an des conférences en ligne autour de mon concept Pencil Vs Camera avec les classes de la professeure de français Mahasti Mofazali au prestigieux Collège privé anglophone "Collingwood School" en Colombie Britannique au Canada.

Durant l'année scolaire, Madame Mofazali oriente ses cours de français autour de mon concept Pencil Vs Camera, les élèves ont pour mission de réaliser une image dans le même style et à la fin du projet, une rencontre entre eux et moi en français est organisée afin que les jeunes puissent pratiquer leur français, expliquer leur démarche créative et ce qu'ils ont voulu exprimer, cela les motive à parler le français tout en développant leur créativité. J'en profite pour leur donner des conseils généraux pour améliorer leur capacité en arts graphiques et en recherche d'idées. Ce sont toujours des rencontres enrichissantes. Depuis 2011, le concept Crayon Vs Appareil Photo (Pencil Vs Camera) de Ben Heine est devenu populaire chez les élèves du primaire et du secondaire au niveau mondial et particulièrement en France et en Angleterre (visualiser de nombreux exemples ici). Ben Heine a rapidement été contacté par des écoles et professeurs (notamment de dessin) lui demandant d’utiliser et d’enseigner ses techniques à leurs élèves.

Ces enseignants leur montrent le processus créatif de Ben Heine à travers des fiches pédagogiques et leur demandent de réaliser des images similaires dans le but de stimuler leur imagination, d’entrainer leurs capacités en dessin et en photo, de les encourager à utiliser les nouvelles technologies et de les motiver à partager et communiquer leurs idées. Le travail de Ben Heine permet aussi aux professeurs de discuter en classe des différences entre le dessin figuratif et imaginatif ainsi que des différences entre la fiction et la réalité.

Les élèves créent ainsi de nouvelles images mélangeant la photo et le dessin, ils utilisent parfois directement les images de Ben Heine avec le dessin effacé afin d’avoir une base sur laquelle commencer. L’artiste a donné de nombreuses conférences interactives dans des écoles du monde entier.
