She has got a real presence. Gifted with this incredible colour and its fourfold epiphany, the amaryllis is a visual predator - forcing herself (according to Greek mythology she is a country girl) into view and triggering my attention. She is a beautiful drama queen.

This snowy egret in the foreground was perched, minding his own business when a great egret (in the background) swooped in and knocked him of his perch with a great squawk. Such drama!
I was blessed that day in Coimbra with good midday light, fantastic dramatic sky and amazing red colour of the waters of Rio Mondego. In late afternoon water had turned back to blue.

Die letzten Tage stellten sich in und um Pirna als wilder Mix von Sonne, Wind und Regen dar. So war es auch im Freitag nachmittag auf dem Gohrisch in der Sächsischen Schweiz. Nachdem gegen 15:00 Uhr ein Regenschauer abgeklungen war, bot sich vom Gipfel eine sehr gute Fernsicht mit fantastischen Farben. Doch von Westen nahte schon die nächste Wolkenfront. Ich hatte erst erwartet, dass diese jenseits des Elbtales an mir vorbeizieht, den Gefallen tat sie mir aber nicht. Wenige Minuten nach der Aufnahme überrollte mich ein heftiger Graupelschauer, der sich in dem kleinen Pavillon an der Ostseite des Gohrisch aber gut aushalten ließ. Wer am Freitag auf dem Hohen Schneeberg war, hatte offensichtlich Glück: der Berg lag den ganzen nachmittag bis zum sunset in der Sonne...
