I spent the past week on the Paria Plateau, including a visit to White Pocket, a chaotic mix of twisted, folded, mutilated sandstone (Navajo, of aeolian origin). One of my favorite features (dubbed the "dragon's tail") is this series of ridges that has bands within bands, cuts, and alternate white and red layers. The scale here is difficult to determine- the actual scale is larger than it may seem- on the skyline in the middle you can see an old fence line. The photo is shot right at sunrise, so the light is a wee bit harsh, but the colors are true. Stacked using 3 images for sharper focus throughout. (#2)
The de Havilland Dragon Rapide is a classic British twin-engine biplane used for short-haul passenger flights and utility transport. It gained popularity in the 1930s and was also used in various roles during World War II. Known for its reliability and comfort, it remains a cherished vintage aircraft.
Just part of the most amazing dragon sculpture seen at this weekend's craft show at RHS Hyde Hall! The talented artist who created this beauty is Steven Ritchie! What the picture doesn't show is that scale of the thing - the sculpture is massive!

These fruits are commonly known in English as "dragon fruit", a name used since 1963, apparently resulting from the leather-like skin and prominent scaly spikes on the fruit exterior. The fruit is often designated as "Vietnamese dragon fruit" as Vietnam is the lead exporter. The fruit may also be known as a strawberry pear.

This female Autumn Meadowhawk dragonfly would land on this dry flower stem in my garden, sit for awhile, then fly off and make a circuit around the flower bed, and return to the same stem.
She's a very small dragon, only about 1.25 inches (31-35 mm) in total length. There are several species of meadowhawks, and the females are somewhat variable, especially in late summer. Light-colored legs, and the "scoop" at the bottom of the tail are diagnostic for identification of female Autumn Meadowhawks. The males are reddish in color.
The incredible Tiger’s Nest Monastery sits high in the Himalayan mountains of Bhutan - a true spectacle from the land of the thunder dragon.
There was a brief moment, standing here, taking this photograph, when I felt like everything I had done in my life had in some way led me to this spectacular view. It was a sudden and refreshing burst of insight and it made me it seem like until this point, I've only been experiencing the world around me through my eyes and not with my heart. This was different, there’s just something special about this place that pulled me in and refused to let go. As a seasoned traveler, this is a rare experience that I always find to be truly special - and one that I appreciate tremendously.

Dragon Rock, Mornington Peninsula, Australia. I've been to this location a few times but you have to be here when the tide is just right to be able to get onto the rock shelf and have the waterfalls.
The Gamma Dragon flys high into the sky to absorb gamma rays usually shielded by the atmosphere. Theses rays allow for tremendous power and give it a glowing appearance.
