I’m making progress getting my new Sony a1ii dialed in and am loving it. There wasn’t a lot of action at the wetlands today but this Tricolored Heron gave us a flyby over gorgeous water and I love when they dip their wings, in this case both. I wonder if it’s like sticking your hand out of a car window to feel the wind. (Egretta tricolor) (Sony a1ii, 200-600 lens @ 571mm, 1/2500 second, f/7.1, ISO 1250)

What a Drag - Peregrine Falcon dragging its gull kill to a better location before feeding. Amazing how they take on prey so much larger than themselves!

Nitroglobus is proud to announce the return of acclaimed artist Kian with his new exhibition DRAG.ed & FRAME.d, on view throughout December 2025 at The Annex of Nitroglobus.
After his last showing, Zornian Women (June 2023), I repeatedly invited Kian to present new work. His return marks not only a renewed collaboration but also a striking continuation of his distinctive artistic voice.
In DRAG.ed & FRAME.d, Kian delves into themes that lie at the heart of his practice—humor, daring aesthetic choices, and provocative conceptual play. The series moves fluidly “between power and vulnerability,” as the artist describes, exploring identity, performativity, and the thresholds between constructed and perceived selves.
Kian is back with a topic that is unmistakably his. His work is daring, humorous, and thought-provoking, encouraging visitors to look beyond boundaries and conventions. I’m sincerely happy to welcome him again to Nitroglobus.
Visitors are encouraged to read Kian’s accompanying text, which offers a deeper look into the conceptual motivations behind the exhibition.

The coal drags on the Chesapeake & Ohio Railroad of the early 1950s are re-created for the cameras in February of 2023 as Class H-6 Mallet Locomotive #1309 charges across a small steel trestle, with a string of hoppers and gondolas in tow.
For just a few days, the recently-restored 1309, now in tourist service on Maryland's Western Maryland Scenic Railroad, was re-lettered in the livery of her original owner for a series of special charters, organized by Lerro Photography and attended by groups of about 40 photographers from all around the world. The 1949-vintage Baldwin 2-6-6-2 is pictured here crossing the Cumberland & Pennsylvania Bridge #2 at Mile Marker 180.4, just about a mile and a half from Frostburg, MD. This particular spot has been a favorite location for photographers for several decades, but in recent years, when steam has not been running on the line, the trees and brush had really grown up here. It was only through some very labor-intensive, cooperative efforts of volunteers from both the Trains Magazine and Lerro Photography teams, that the brush has been cleared, making this location once again useful for action shots such as this one.
One of the drawbacks of Febrovery is, that I can't upload the pictures as I take them. I am reluctant to show pictures with full snow, because it's quite warm and we even have a slight drizzle (we need more rain, actually)

A Bald Eagle catches and drags it's prey across the river surface. They are opportunists first and foremost but when they hunt they are a sight to behold.
A (blended) long exposure from a lovely morning between Lands End and Sennen last week. Need to explore this area more the next time we are down in Cornwall.
