Digging through an old hardrive.
Just a bull dozer I found around Calgary, Alberta, Canada. I had such a fun time shooting the week I was there that I just could not get enough. So, on my second to last night there I went in search of something I thought was interesting to shoot near the hotel when I found this guy. I figured, with the wide angle and the sun setting in the background, that this little guys would make for an interesting in your face composition...

This is the colored version of the Digger Bulldozer (Digger Dozer v1). It uses a combinations of Zen Magnets, NeoBalls, and Bucky Chromatics to show off a lot more detail that was lost in the original mono-chrome version. I chose the color combos to make the parts detail really stand out.
Digger Dozer v2 kept the straight scooper arms, increased the size of the scooper,. and added some top teeth.
Digger Dozer v3 modified the scooper arms to be more smaller bulldozers. This mod shortened the length enough to fit into a 4x7x4 inch display case.

The Super Scooper that contained all the NeoBall colors turned out too big and two layers were removed for the final design.
Got the display case from Taps Plastics along with a small lazy susan that I will add to the bottom later to allow the case to rotate. The metal base used to keep the dozer in place was constructed using Zen Magnet gift set plates (3), aluminum foil tape, scotch tape, and prism film
plastic coated paper. The plates were taped together and wrapped in the prism paper.
Description from v1 ... I've always had this design in the back of my head to do. After several attempts, this one came out the closest to what I had in mind. This little beauty has a little scooper blade in the front, wheels instead of caterpillar treads, a digger arm in the rear with two stabilizing legs on either side.
It has a solid body using the same layering building technique I've used in the past (start with a parallel center and work your way outward adding details as part of the layering). The wheels were done using a hexagon layer on one side and an offset circular ring pattern on the other. The wheel axle height is compensated within the body using a notch.
Because of the single strand magnetic field, the front roof supports could not be straightened out.
There is a little seat for the driver inside the cab area, which is open. The weight of the entire thing is resting on the wheels.

Santa Clara Fire Department responded to a 4 alarm fire in Reed Street, March 2010.
The fire was burning in piles of electronic waste being accumulated for recycling. This is the 3rd fire in these premises in the last two years.
These fire fighters received a crash course in operating these front end loaders from City workers. Then they donned their breathing apparatus and went in to move piles of refuge around. What is that saying about the size of a man's toys?
This handsome young dog is DOZER, a 1 – 1 1/2 year old Lab/Pit mix who’s gentle, affectionate and eager to please. Since he’s a little shy and submissive, he’ll need very kind handling and training to help him build his confidence. He’s nice with other dogs. Dozer is looking for a calm, loving home.
