A very stunning large butterfly that can be found in the lowland forested regions of sub-Saharan Africa from Senegal to South Africa and Madagascar. Depending on the angle and relation of the sunlight on the upper wings the colours of pink, purple, yellow and green will reflect back and will be very similar to a mother-o-pearl sheen. When these butterflies go to roost in in the late afternoon they will pose in a head-downward posture beneath leaf's etc and with their help of the fake midrib and mould spots on the under wings this will provide them with an excellent camouflage.
Striking diving duck of coastal harbors, mountain lakes, and large rivers. Very similar to Common Goldeneye. Males are easiest: Barrow’s has more black on the back, a downward-pointing spur on the side, and a crescent-shaped (not circular) white patch on the face. Females can be very difficult. Barrow’s usually has a yellow bill, but Common can rarely show a dull yellowish bill. Head and bill shape are important: Barrow’s has a steeper forehead and a puffy nape, and a shorter bill with a more rounded lower edge. Fairly common in western U.S. and Canada; much less common in the northeast. Small population in Iceland. Frequently found in mixed flocks with Common Goldeneye. (eBird)

We went for an evening drive during my covid quarantine on a quest to hear Flammulated Owl. It was a remote area so no chance of running into people. No owl, but a host of other nice, if noisy (photographically speaking), birds.

Smile on Saturday
Had the pleasure of seeing this late day Moose on my travels. I have decided to call him Curly just because he has a distinguishing feature on his rack, one of his smaller points curls downward. Not as noticeable from this front on angle. After a snowstorm went through the area dumping a bunch of snow he was busy munching on twigs and trees.
White-Breasted Nuthatch.
Sparrow-sized at between 5-6 inches in length. Blue-gray above with white underparts and face and a black crown. Usually seen creeping downward on tree trunks.
They can be found in deciduous and mixed forests.
Their range is from British Columbia, Ontario and Nova Scotia south to southern California, Arizona, the Gulf Coast and central Florida. They are absent from most of the Great Plains.

The CitizenM Hotel in Bankside London, near Southwark Bridge. Beautifully designed inside in general this wooden spiral I took facing up when passing through for coffee and lunch a few weeks ago, so went back for the same again this time climbing it and looking down with the benefit of some more time. I love the wood here, and how some hotel chains take the time, effort and money to make a really nice environment for guests and visitors.

Taken in Barnes's Grove, Buckinghamshire, I just liked the large beech with its downward pointing branches amid the variety of woodland species behind it. The saplings with their copper leaves add some colour to the proceedings too!

manche Dinge, die abwärts gehen ,sind trotzdem schön.
Some things which go downward are beautiful nevertheless.
I‘ve mentioned it in a (similarly titled) image before, but once again, in case you‘re not familiar with it… "A downward spiral" is an album by Nine Inch Nails and at the end of it, there‘s a little song called "Hurt", many rather know because of the cover version by Johnny Cash (which is great as well, of course).
Here‘s the original:

The classic down shot toward the 54th floor lobby of the Grand Hyatt Hotel Shanghai Pudong.
OSS seems to work quite well as this was a handheld shot, and my knees were shaking as I tried to frame through the LCD screen (not a fan of height lolz).

“The Quebec College of Physicians & Surgeons proposed to extend Medical Assistance in Dying (MAiD) to infants born with disabilities up to one year old!”
First they dehumanize the unborn and kill them, then they come after the born. The Nazi’s started with the disabled too.
