I finally watched "Sense8"!
It was one of the best story for me.
I love all the characters and even all the sidekicks.
No matter how anomalous, unstable, chaotic, or strange life may be.

One morning recently I was surprised to find a Huntsman spider sound asleep and hanging by one leg on the outside of the window on my front porch. I thought she may be dead but decided not to disturb her, she looked so sweet and innocent just hanging there on the glass.
I kept an eyes on her and when I wasn't looking, she woke up and went on her way. A shame really because I would have made her some tea and toast, I'm hospitable like that. A few nights later I saw her again, this time she was inside with me. She had taken up a position on the wall where she could watch TV over my right shoulder; Huntsmans are lovely like that, they're both sociable and enjoy a bit of television.
She was still there at bedtime, and fearing she may fancy a warm spot under my doona, I picked her up and took her into the garden. "Sweet dreams my darling" I said as she vanished into the flower bed.
Shorea robusta, the sal tree, sāla, shala, sakhua, or sarai, is a species of tree in the family Dipterocarpaceae. The tree is native to India, Bangladesh, Nepal, Tibet and across the Himalayan regions.
Fossil evidence from lignite mines in the Indian states of Rajasthan and Gujarat indicate that sal trees (or at least a closely related Shorea species) have been a dominant tree species of forests of the Indian subcontinent since at least the early Eocene (roughly 49 million years ago), at a time when the region otherwise supported a very different biota from the modern day. Evidence comes from the numerous amber nodules in these rocks, which originate from the dammar resin produced by the sal trees.
Sal is one of the most important sources of hardwood timber in India, with hard, coarse-grained wood that is light in colour when freshly cut, but becomes dark brown with exposure. The wood is resinous and durable, and is sought-after for construction, although not well suited to planing and polishing. The wood is especially suitable for constructing frames for doors and windows.
The dry leaves of sal are a major source for the production of leaf plates and bowls called patravali in India and Nepal. It is also used as a popular substitute for foam or plastic plates in street food culture in Nepal and India. The used leaves/plates are readily eaten by goats and cattle. The tree has therefore protected northern India from a flood of styrofoam and plastic plates that would have caused tremendous pollution. In Nepal, its leaves are used to make local plates and vessels called "tapari", "doona" and "bogata" in which rice and curry is served. However, the use of such "natural" tools have sharply declined during last decade.
Sal tree resin is known as sal dammar or Indian dammar, ṛla in Sanskrit. It is used as an astringent in Ayurvedic medicine, burned as incense in Hindu ceremonies, and used to caulk boats and ships.
Sal seeds and fruit are a source of lamp oil and vegetable fat. The seed oil is extracted from the seeds and used as cooking oil after refining.

So its been a heck of a year so far - with colds and back stuff and crazy busy work and also crazy car stuff. My apartment was transformed in to a winter wonderland with tissues from sneezing all week . I get back to work yesterday, drop off my perfectly driving car which has been driving beautifully since the magic Italian Fiat elves sorted it out at Christmas - to get quick inspection for my annual registration - return after work to pick up after mechanic installed new lightbulbs and tyres and my engine had lost all power - could not drive it all. Its a bit like jogging in to the doctors in glowing health and coming out to the waiting room riddled with disease - how does that happen ???? - actually quite funny as I type it ;)))
It had to be towed way out to the Fiat Elves way out west to repair the damage done by the mechanics(work that one out) which meant I was unable to get down this morning for the biggest waves all year. Devastated would be an understatement or as they say here in Australia - Devo !!! :).
Then....Then.....I check my gmail (which I only created 18 months ago so that I could join flickr) and find an email from like a month ago from a Designer at Yahoo asking my permission to use one of my shots for their opening/signing off page on Flickr.....I'm like are you friggin' kidding me .....I emailed him back , no reply and he has probably already set up his own billion dollar start up in Silicon Valley and that opportunity has totally flown the coop !!!!!.
So a kind friend texted me this afternoon and said 'good news Rosie - this means that the next 6 months are going to amazing' -
Shot taken on Wednesday afternoon after I drove down with my then perfectly driving car after 4 days in Doona/Tissueland for some fresh air - the sky was crazy with cloud and rain and the beach was empty. Fingers crossed my fine flickr friends that I have too reached the half wave point and am now crossing over to the other side :).

This week's shot of Zac (a.k.a. "big dog") for 52 weeks for Dogs. For those of you who don't know, B.D. is a cross between a chihuahua and a fox terrier. He is 10 1/2 years old (in human years of course) and my child substitute. He also hates his mum taking his photo but I must say he's getting better since this 52 Weeks for Dogs project. Sometimes I even think he's posing for me, but not this one. He was tucked up in his doona and ready for bed!! Sweet isn't he, my little munchkin ;)

Have been looking for a new doona cover forever ... well, for a few years at least, since Lukas the hound developed a temporary taste for goosedown and chewed through my favourite purple doona cover to get at the doona. Finally found something I fell in love with, a cream textured/embossed cover. HOWEVER ... my life contains soccer booted child, wayward labrador-kelpie cross who likes to bed-share, and a handsome, supercilious long haired feline, who insists on being anywhere the dog is allowed to be.
But, I bought the embossed cream doona cover anyway, and I LOVE it. It works beautifully with soft green curtains and throw rug (and my ginger-haired boyfriend). Here it is on the line, with some foliage-shadow. It's holding up surprisingly well to the ravages of a kid-pet-messyadult household.
This photo is a celebration of the immensely impractical decisions we make in the name of aesthetics (ooh - and one of my ex-husbands falls in this category, too).
A lesson on using what you have. d5200 not one of the great cameras in todays line up, a decent macro lens that was a little long for the space we had to work in, a couple of Godox MF12s in hand it was off to the races for an impromptu shoot. Again controlled window light, doona cover, angle and job done.

We'd ventured out in sunny weather, but a change quickly carried in a light drizzle.
I saw this Pac Black hop out of the water move to some thick dried grasses, settle itself down, and then tuck its head under its two built in doonas.
I wondered why I wasn't doing the same.

Charch loves to have his head burried under things. He has done it since he was a puppy.
Its sucks for him that he's not allowed in our bed because he is in heaven being under the doona. He's like a little sniper, commando crawling closer to the nearest shelter. Once 'under' something he lets out that massive sign of content.
He cannot go to sleep for the night without being next to/on top of or burrowed under Asha in some way. It always puts the biggest smile on my face :)
if I had rolled over and pulled the doona over my head.. I would have missed this. Life, is the sum of the choices we make.

Drove some hours into the night, slept beside the road to a spot JF had rung and directed snuggled exhausted in my doona & swag in the back of the ute and woke to a cold but beautiful morning, blown away with the colour and the foggy first light.
