This handsome bald eagle has a mind of his own and probably just needed a vacation...

Since May 10th, the bald eagle, Donald, had been on his way north... Last weekend, he was "picked up" again in Cuxhaven and is now back home in Berlebeck.

It's a bit of a pity for him that he already has to go home again.

Donald Duck

This plastic Donald Duck figurine was given to me when I was... four or five years old!

That is to say in 1959 or 1960. It is one of the rare objects from my early childhood which still adorns my souvenir window.

The head measures 24mm from below the beak to the top of the cap.

Donald appeared in 1934, his full name is Donald Fauntleroy Duck

Now Phill has retired so, sadly, have his 'assistants'. Phill had an array of puppets which he would use to entertain the younger children when taking their photographs. Donald was the most popular as Philli's a dab hand at doing Donald Duck's voice. The children loved it. Donald hasn't taken to retirement as well as Phill has as you can see here. All the puppets were thrown in the corner where Milu sleeps: Milu uses them as extra pillows

We have been put into tiers over here which dictates what we can and cannot do. We are in Tier 2, which gives us certain 'freedoms' but unfortunately my family are in Tier 3 which is the most restricting. We were hoping to meet up after lockdown finishes on 2 December, but now that will not be possible. Hey Ho!

Happy Furry Friday everyone.

Wishing you all a safe and healthy weekend

Great way to start off the morning: meeting Donald Duck at the Hotel Santa Fe at 7:30am.

[incoherent duck noises]

Donald the Muscovy duck has developed quite a bond with me. He responds to his name and will come to me when called. He goes through quite a ritual of bobbing his head up and down, hissing and making a grinding teeth like sound and unlike the other ducks doesn't mind being touched. I'm starting to think this is some sort of mating ritual...perhaps he sees me as an overgrown duck.

I found Donald and his duck at a goodwill store sitting on a shelf. I loved his sou'wester and mac, a style much more fitting to Cornwall than New Mexico.

He was just a couple of dollars and at last I've found an occupant for the little chair we recycled a couple of years ago.

I don't think I would've called him Donald but that's his name on the label.

Donald MacAlpin, or rather Domnall mac Ailpín in the Gaelic of the time (Modern Gaelic: Dòmhnall mac Ailpein), was a king of the Picts who reigned between 13th February 858 and 13th April 862. The brother of Kenneth MacAlpin, who according to the national myth was the first King of Scotland, he is known in most modern regal lists as Donald I.

The Chronicle of Melrose says of Donald, "…in war he was a vigorous soldier...." and while little is known about his military activity it is probable that he would have had to use some force to consolidate the MacAlpin’s dynasty as kings of the Pics. He is best known for overseeing the introduction of laws known as the laws of Aedh (or Aed). These included the law of tanistry, under which the successor of the king was elected during his lifetime from members of his family. This meant that brothers or cousins of the king could be next in line for succession rather than sons.

The events surrounding Donald’s death are uncertain. According to the Chronicle of Melrose he was murdered, but there are no other sources that support this. The location of his death is also unknown, either being at the palace of Cinnbelachoir, which is thought to have been near Scone, or at Rathinveralmond, the location of which is again unknown, but could in fact be the same place. He was buried on Iona.

Although Donald is generally supposed to have been childless, it has been suggested that Giric, who was king between 878 and 889, was his son. He was succeeded by Constantine, his nephew and son of Kenneth MacAlpine.

Members of InnovaLUG built vignettes for the Disney minifigure series, and I built this for Donald Duck. View all of the vignettes on our website:

Fun facts: I built the walls upside down so that I could match the slope of the back of the boat with a 1x2 tile slope (is that what you call them?).

The windows are probably my favorite details, it was tricky getting them to be only 3 studs wide.

I based this off of Donald Duck's first appearance:

American army officer Benedict Arnold (1741 - 1801), mid to late 18th century. During the American Revolutionary War, Arnold secretly negotiated with British officer John Andre to surrender West Point to the British military, eventually formally switching sides and joining the British. His name became synonymous with treason. (Photo free to download)
