Paddling on lake McDonald may not be the dream, but camping along the shores of it would be. Those of you who have been to Glacier National Park know that camping is not allowed along the shores of this lake, but if I could camp here this would be one spot to do it. In this case I just set the tent up for a prop until dark to shot some star trail shots.... but I did paddle most of the day on the lake. For the record, I did car camp just outside of the park for a couple of hours until the break of dawn...... didn't see the point of getting a camp site for three or four hours of sleep.

Another one of the shots from our camping trip to watch the Lyrids meteor shower. No shooting stars in this one though,,,just some good times around the campfire.

Yours truly preparing a Mountain House Beef Stroganoff dehydrated meal for dinner in Talkeetna, Alaska. Had I'd know it was going to rain, drizzle, and snow for the next twelve hours I would have ate a nice meal in town..... it's a good thing I really enjoy this particular meal.

Waiting and watching for the Northern Lights to appear last night until almost 12:30 with no luck. The forecast was predicting low to moderate activity, but the cloud cover and the surrounding Anchorage city lights reduced our chances to zero. Lucky for me I brought along a tent and had access to small head lamp to illuminate the inside of the tent. Crossing my fingers for next weekend...... new moon and hopefully no clouds.

Another long exposure shot of the Mountain Hardware EV3 and a lone Bush plane parked on a frozen lake in Alaska. Waiting for the Northern Lights to pop out of the clouds..... but no luck on this night as the clouds rolled in and the surrounding Anchorage city lights reflecting off the clouds behind me. Maybe next weekend will be my lucky break.

No Northern Lights...... make your own! The forecast for some Aurora activity was looking promising, but the cloud cover and the clouds reflecting light from the so rounding Anchorage city lights kept us from seeing any activity last night.
So I borrowed Scott Benedicts LED ball light and proceeded to make my own show of lights.

Ive been wanting to make one of these night time dome tent shots for a while now and after finding this little bush plane on a frozen lake I just had to make this vision happen. This is the first of multiple variations of this shot. I don't have the extra cash to hire a pilot and fly into some cool remote location somewhere deep in the Alaskan wilderness, nor did I bring all the necessary gear with me to do any kind of cold weather camping,...... but this tent will be a start.
Maybe someday I'll be able to do something like this for real, but for now this will just have to do :-)

Lots of condensation buildup over night inside the tent.... even with all the vents open. I'm guessing the 100% humidity and temps just barely above freezing had something to do with it. All the walls inside of the tent were covered in ice and the outside of my sleeping bag was all wet as well. So I took a trip into town for some Bagels and coffee at the Roadhouse in Talkeetna.

It took almost 45minutes to pack down a base for the tent due to extremely dry waist deep snow. Lucky for me the sun was out, and temps in the low 40's made it possible to pack it down. Used my split board, and had to stop and pack snow until I had a decent base. Setup along the frozen banks of the Talkeetna River just outside of town over looking the Susitna River.

#Glamping involves accommodations and facilities far more luxurious than those associated with traditional camping. It's a mix of words of glamorour and camping. Unlike #camping, which typically takes place in the woods or by a lake, glamping destinations are both unique and exclusive. That gives You a true definition and a way of life.

Opblaasbare Tent voor de Reddingsbrigade Zoetermeer Haaglanden, 3x3 model met full color bedrukking. Opvallen doe je met UPPE
I purchased a new dome tent.
It takes 5 minutes to set-up, weighs a durable 7 pounds, is water resistant with five-way interior ventilation and the screens are made of mesh. There is a mesh shelf, sewn-in pockets for convenient storage and a hook to hang my candle lantern. The roof is protected with a wrap-around rain fly, it has a welded floor seam and a shock-corded frame made of fiberglass poles. Fancy eh? According to my extensive research, even without seam sealing the tent can endure at least 2 in (5cm) of rain and about 22 mph (36 km/h) of wind with no leakage. No leakage!!!
When fully assembled it is 9 x 7 square feet. Plus it comes in designer blue, my favorite color. Plus it comes with six steel stakes. Plus it comes with a zip carrying bag and is ideal for camping.
I don’t need a tent for extreme circumstances so this will work just fine. And it was $30 USD. A deal and a steal!!!
Hilleberg Saitaris - the covered top vent above the red Hilleberg-label - is so efficiently shielded, that no rain or snow can be blown into the tent. This is a very special construction only found on a few Hilleberg-dometents, e.g. Hilleberg Saivo, Tarra and Staika.
Pitched high above Galashiels in the Scottish borders, looking south to the Elidon Hills and the Cheviots beyond.
The inside and openening/apsis of my tent with my PAC AO-Mtn sleeping pad and my Mountain Hardwear Lamina 20 sleeping bag.
Taken at about 5:30am some 20km north of Goteborg, Sweden at easter time.
