My next series is about Kihikihi Domain in NZ (it's 7 minutes' walk (600m) from where I live
The Kihikihi Domain is a huge, multi-purpose sports centre located south of the Te Awamutu township.
It is renowned as New Zealand's premier venue for international horse trials , also providing a cross-country course and purpose-built arenas for dressage and show-jumping. As well as equestrian activities, Kihikihi Domain is also home to the speedway race track, and its fields are busy most weekends with team sports.
I shot this Great Blue Heron while it was hanging out in this huge snag located in the middle of a wetlands near Everett, Washington. These herons are very common in these parts and are impressive birds...this one was around 4 feet tall with about a 6 foot wingspan. The Great Blue Heron is actually the official bird of the city of Seattle.
C'était mardi dernier. La neige n'a pas fondu, il s'en est même ajoutée!!! Ce qui est rare en novembre.
Sometimes it take an engineer's perspective to build something out of this world, so this bird hired the best to accomplish what you see here.
Sometimes things just come together the way you had hoped. This buck pronghorn had been walking along a ridge line and lucky for me, lifted his head up while I was in just the right position.

Quelques minutes avant le lever du Soleil, la brume couvre les étangs du Domaine des Oiseaux.
Dans cette belle ambiance, ce Héron cendré semble garder les étangs où les différents oiseaux vont bientôt s'activer.

A white-tailed deer (Odocoileus virginianus) buck in the brush. To me, this image is somewhat of a hybrid between a clean, tight portrait and a more environmental image. The deer is still fairly large in the frame, but there is still ample space around it, and while many of the habitat elements are blurred and out of focus, the texture provides the viewer with a sense of place.
