The two buildings on the left are the last of the meatpacking businesses in my neighborhood - everything else has been converted to tech offices. God help us - I have my own (poor) opinion of the tech workers in this neighborhood. The hand made "Eat more corned beef" sign in the window of the brown brick building makes me smile.
Wild Bill Flynn's Hemi Powered 1968 Dodge Dart "Yankee Peddler".
This is one of 80 cars built for NHRA Super Stock racing, starting out as a 383 and shipped to subcontractor Hurst Industries for modifications and final assembly.
Powered by a race only 426ci Hemi with 12.5:1 compression, solid lifters, magnesium cross-ram intake, dual Holley Carbs and a 4 speed trans.
The ground shook as this former racer rumbled by with its uncapped headers ;-)
Seen at Frankenmuth Autofest, a car show held annually after Labor Day in Frankenmuth, Michigan. A brief rain shower had just ended, the reason for the droplets on the classic Dodge Dart.
I can't draw, so I take pictures instead. :-)

1962 Dodge Dart
When the 1962 Dart hit the scene, it was initially shunned by car buyers, thanks to a corporate screw-up that shrank the "standard-size" Plymouth and Dodge cars, one year after the 1962 designs were finalized, and a year into their tooling-up process. Dodge dealers hated it, with a dozen quitting on the spot when it was revealed to them in the summer of 1961. The dealers even threatened mass action if a "big Dodge" wasn't in the 1962 line-up ASAP.
Based on that, it can be argued the 1962 B-Bodies were the first of the classic muscle cars, whose performance proved it. The 413 Max Wedge ran e.t. 's near what a modern-day Viper runs. That puts these Darts in very fast company by today's standards, but in 1962 they were the fast company!
In the early 1960s there was an expression at the drags: "Nothing beats a 'button' off the line except another 'button,'" referring to the pushbutton TorqueFlite. Until then, you needed a four-speed to win drag races, but "buttons" changed that.

Here's a walk down Memory Lane for all you (North American) retro classic car buffs and enthusiasts.
This paint colour and insignia will undoubtedly be all that's needed to trigger your mind's eye into remembering the exact car, make and model.
The classic Dodge Dart (1960-1976) came in a variety of engines from the 6 cylinder model right up to the screaming hemi.
'MOPAR OR NO CAR' as the Dodge/Plymouth/Chrysler enthusiasts say
Currently I am involved in a restore of a 1968 Dodge Dart.
She was purchased as a complete surprise by family for my birthday.
In my younger days, muscle cars were a huge part of my youth.
I conjointly built some lean, mean muscle machines and did some recreational racing, that included racing on the quarter mile track.
I owned a 1968 Dodge Charger and to this day, I am still kicking my own ass for not keeping the classic and ever loved car that began the muscle car era - The GTO.
Mine was a 1966
.... hopefully, by next summer I may even have some of my own car images to display.
I know this image will attract a specific audience and for those that may be interested, I have including my Classic Cars & Hot Rods album.

**I created this image for the actual owner of this classic beauty. I am pleased to say.... he loved it :)
The Dodge Dart is an automobile originally built by Dodge from 1960 to 1976 in North America, with production extended to later years in various other markets. The Dart nameplate was resurrected for a Fiat-derived compact car introduced in 2013. The Dart name originally appeared on a 1957 show car featuring a body designed by the Italian coachbuilder Carrozzeria Ghia. The production Dart was introduced as a lower-priced, shorter wheelbase, full-size Dodge in 1960 and 1961, became a mid-size car for 1962, and finally was a compact from 1963 to 1976. The most popular, muscle Darts were those of 4th generation 1968-1976.

Over the hot summer months, my plans include posting some of the beautiful cars and trucks that cross my path and capture both my eye and heart.
In return, I will display them proudly in hopes that other people may have a chance to enjoy their beauty as well.
