The legal needs of our men and women in uniform were front and center for the launch of the Baltimore City District Court Veterans Treatment Docket on October 13, 2015, at the Eastside Courthouse in Baltimore. The Honorable Halee F. Weinstein, herself a U.S. Army veteran, presided over the docket, the first District Court docket of its kind in the state. Attending luminaries included Chief Judge John P. Morrissey, District Court of Maryland; Dr. Adam M. Robinson, Jr., Director of the VA Maryland Health Care System; and Major General Linda L. Singh, Adjutant General of the Maryland National Guard.

In 1763, Patrick Henry, who lived and practiced law in Hanover County, argued the case of the Parson's Cause, a case involving King George III's requirement that Virginians pay taxes to support the local Anglican ministry despite their objections and those of the House of Burgesses. Henry, representing the County, accused the King of tyranny in overturning colonial law without regard to the wishes of his subjects.[4][5]

A new modern government complex with two court buildings was built and opened in 1979 adjacent to the 1735 courthouse, which is still actively used for periodic judicial proceedings to alleviate crowded court dockets and also for handling ceremonial events.[6]

On December 30, 1970, it was added to the National Register of Historic Places and on November 7, 1973 it was designated a National Historic Landmark. It is the focal point of the Hanover County Courthouse Historic District.

A group of history, sociology and political science students from Bridgewater College traveled to Washington, D.C., March 1, to observe the United States Supreme Court in action. The oral argument heard by the students was Schindler Elevator Corp., v. United States (Docket No. 10-188). Following the court session, the students interviewed one of Justice Anthony Kennedy's law clerks and then were treated to a tour of the building's east and west conference rooms.

The students were accompanied by Dr. Timothy J. Brazill, associate professor of sociology, Dr. James S. Josefson, associate professor of political science and history, and Roy W. Ferguson Jr., the college's executive vice president.

The Cameron County District Attorney's Office provided free fingerprinting to Boy and Girl Scouts of the Rio Grande Valley. The Scouts watched a docket be processed in the 197th state District Court of Judge Migdalia Lopez and the 103rd state District Court of Judge Janet Leal. They then received a tour of the District Attorney's Office where Cmdr. Luis Carlos De Leon and IT Specialist Tim Bowen provided free fingerprinting. Both De Leon and Bowen are part of the Unified Narcotics Investigation Task Force (U.N.I.T.) The U.N.I.T. is a South Texas High Intensity Drug-Trafficking Area Initiative (H.I.D.T.A.).
