Some retouching DNA blueprints for fun. A visual representation of the brush strokes during the retouching workflow.
I made this as a presentation to my genetics professor. She was so impressed by the craftsmanship, that she hardly noticed how little I knew.
All the bases are colour-coded and at the bottom there is a nucleotide model with phosphate group (P), sugar (S) and base (B) marked. The pyrimidines and purines are distingueshed by the lighter/darker gray part. The model represents the B configuration, but can be reworked, although with much effort, into any other. I would enjoy keeping this built forever, but sadly it literally only uses my favourite pieces (minus the baseplate).
Within the Great Gate of Gonville and Caius. The helical pattern alludes to the ornamented pavement used in medieval buildings to mark a ceremonial pathway. The design also refers to the helical structure of DNA. Also symbolic of the flow of information from the College to the outer world. The coded uppercsase letters relate to RNA with the addition of GCC for Gonville and Caius College.

The DNA Tower derives its name from the deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) double-helix molecule, which is found in all cells and controls the development of life.
Commissioned in 1966, the 15 metre high staircase has 101 steps and was inspired by the famous double staircase in a Chateau in Blois, France. The paving and wall surrounding the DNA Tower was constructed using stones from 11 towns and 80 shires within Western Australia.
The DNA Tower is located at the Forrest Drive end of Broadwalk Vista. It is an easy 1.5 km walk from May Drive Parkland.

L'acido desossiribonucleico o deossiribonucleico (DNA) è un acido nucleico che contiene le informazioni genetiche necessarie alla biosintesi di RNA e proteine, molecole indispensabili per lo sviluppo ed il corretto funzionamento della maggior parte degli organismi viventi.
Un po' di storia:
Il DNA fu inizialmente isolato dal biochimico svizzero Friedrich Miescher che, nel 1869, individuò una sostanza microscopica contenuta nel pus di bende chirurgiche utilizzate.
Seguirono varie ipotesi e indagini e ll ruolo del DNA nell'ereditarietà è stato dimostrato infine nel 1953 da Alfred Hershey e Martha Chase in un celebre esperimento.
Nello stesso anno Rosalind Franklin, James Watson e Francis Crick presentarono sulla rivista Nature quello che è oggi accertato come il primo modello accurato della struttura del DNA, quello della doppia elica.
In una importante presentazione del 1957, Crick propose il dogma centrale della biologia molecolare, che fissa le relazioni tra DNA, RNA e proteine.
Nel 1986 Renato Dulbecco propone di decifrare il codice genetico dell'uomo per sconfiggere il cancro.

Deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) is a nucleic acid —usually in the form of a double helix— that contains the genetic instructions specifying the biological development of all cellular forms of life (and most viruses). DNA is a long polymer of nucleotides and encodes the sequence of the amino acid residues in proteins using the genetic code, a triplet code of nucleotides.
This shot is a spiral staircase with reflections in a wall of glass from our office. The reflections makes the look of a form of a double helix :-))
Take this shot tonight with my 2 friend , i heare peoples talk about this bridge and i take a look other pics i just think all the line and style it look so beautiful and nice but why evry nice beautiful bridge peoples always like to call " Love bridge " ?
I was try to look around all the way so i see this point of view that is why i like to call this one " DNA BRIDGE " and i hope you see here what i see !!
有點不懂為什麼再台灣美麗或者是一些橋老是喜歡給他取上一個很聳的名子,又是情人又是彩虹,有時詞不達意有時又與事實不合,一直聽人討論過這座橋第一眼看到照片時我心裡一直想它特定的角度就很像是一個DNA的樣子,因此新想我一定要去拍出來然後用這個名子來作標題,終於我拍到了,希望下次去可以是有色溫或是紫藍色的天空背景.
