At the end of this week it will be Diwali and people across the world will be out in full force celebrating!!!!...Our house has started this weekend, food is being cooked, fireworks are being bought (6 foot Chinese cracks) and the house is being decorated.
Me and my awesome sister did this in the afternoon, we made a total mess with all the paint powder, but I tried to incorporate the colours, the light and the fireworks (used sparklers).
Not much in post, just increased the exposure and clarity in lightrooms and used photoshop for the text and added a few flares.

My colleague Sabina has an interesting array of colorful candles (Diwali Diyas) in her office. On her desk, these beauties are displayed to show off the colorful and the cultural.

A Diya is a small earthen lamp that is lit especially at Diwali. They are usually made of clay. Ghee or oil is used as the fuel and cotton wool as the wick. Sometimes they are made by part filling a glass with colored water, Ghee is floated on top, and again cotton wool used as a wick. Children could make there own Diya with air dried clay or play dough. For safety reason these diyas should not be lit with Ghee and cotton wool.
Padma deep lamp resembles a fully open lotus to symbolize creation. It represents how a lotus rises above the muddy water and blooms beautifully. Lamp diya with oil refills is made from brass, with a golden finish that makes it perfect for auspicious occasions.
