Milon is a family-owned restaurant, which has been in business since 1982. As seen in this photo, Milon and its neighboring restaurants, take #Diwali very seriously and have decorated their interiors with thousands of lights.
The owner of Milon told us that in the summer, they have to unplug lots of their lights because when the air conditioner is running, they overload the circuits! Photo from 2010 and full interview with owner appear in our book "New York Nights". #storefront #diwalidecor #lodownny #ig_signage #everything_signage #festivaloflights
And the romance with light continues….
Check out a few more shots of Diwali 2017, although this time I stopped wandering and sat stationary observing these superb patterns in the sky in an attempt to capture the grand display of lights on Diwali. Somehow I still have the Diwali fever on as the celebrations continue. Stay tuned for more illuminating captures. And, of course, keep loving, liking, sharing and commenting.
PS: Your appreciation is all that matters !!

The term Deepawali is a combination of two words – Deepa which means Light or Diya and avali which means row. Hence, a row of lights or a row of diyas are lit on Diwali day. This festival marks the triumph of good over evil, light over darkness, and knowledge over ignorance. Most importantly it means, the ‘rising awareness of inner consciousness.’

“Photography for me is a Romance with light”
Apologies everyone for this delayed post as the colorful lights of Diwali kept me busy. A week long session of festivities, Diwali comes with a blast of joy every year, filling each of our hearts with warmth and pleasure. I especially get lured by the amazing display of lights, hanging at every doorstep, at every balcony and terrace. During Diwali, you can find me wandering around with my camera in hand, capturing the celebrations, as one gets ample opportunities to play with lights during Diwali.
So here’s wishing you all a belated Happy Diwali and a prosperous New Year.
