Representation of the divine eye of the Pantocrator of Sant Climent de Taüll made from decorated Easter eggs
The Nezu shrine is one of the more prominent heritage sites in Tokyo. While it can be sidestepped in importance by places like Meiji Jingu-wait Meiji... Oh yeah Meiji. That's what I was gonna talk about today.
A century after the location of the shrine was moved to where it is today, during the Meiji Restoration, the Emperor moved the capital from Kyoto to Tokyo. He sent envoys to Nezu Shrine, further deepening the shrine's significance in the modern world. If it was chosen by one of the most prominent of Japan's leaders then clearly it had to have been worth something. (That and religious significance, I talk a lot about the enshrining here of Susanoo in the previous Nezu post).
Just as Meiji seeked divine intervention here, it is an almost eerie coincidence that I was here in the drumming rain shooting a shrine dedicated to the god of water (or sea I guess). Fate was with me. I was admiring the red gate along the property wondering how I could turn it into a composition. On the other side of the koi pond turned out to be the ideal spot. I didn't even notice the sakura peaking out until I came back to process this, there were quite a lot of colors in the shot. Honestly wonder what this would look like in Autumn with yellow trees, could maybe look even better.
But I'll tell you what was not a divine intercession. Flickr crashing for the entire first half of the day, now this shot is not gonna do well at all. To hell with amazon for causing this.
de volta ao flickr. aeeee!! :)

Sunrise breaks on this beautiful church in a remote area of the Beartooth Mountain foothills. Many miles from any town, this is a true “Cowboy” church primarily serving the sheep and cattle ranching families of the region (who have the required 4-wheel drive vehicles to get to this place!).
I’m sure this church will make another appearance in my photo stream…I’ll try to have more of its history for next time….

Loch Achray, The Trossachs, Scotland. I was stuck in the thick morning mists which rolled down the glens in The Trossachs looking for a subject to photograph when the sun began to burst through lighting up a small twig that stuck out of the loch like a divining rod.

Divine Heaven Underwater
by Russell Sivey, 2012
"An explosion under water
Colors bleeding through the walls
Green algae mixed with peach coral
Pearls floating on the ground
A personal space for a mermaid
Her divine heaven underwater"

This quote makes me smile...:))
On the last day of the year I was greeted with this spectacular light show when I looked out the kitchen window. A low winter sun, some fog and winter temperatures made for a mesmerizing play of lights and shadows. It was... divine.
Technical details:
Shot handheld with 70-200 and 1.4 extender at max zoom through semi-dirty kitchen window (which actually added to the effect, lucky me). Post-processing in Adobe Lightroom, which mainly consisted of making adjustments to color temperature and playing with graduated exposures to maximize the effects of the light.
Divine Landscape.

I got her for the sari dress and jewellery, all left forgotten now. This girl is truly divine and truly luminous, didn't expect to love

Candid street photography from Glasgow, Scotland. On a day with such beautiful contrasty light in the low autumnal sun, I was just seeking out the opportunity to find interesting subjects and scenes in combination with that light.
Presented with this shot I simply couldn't refuse the click - the sliver of almost 'divine' light right down the centre of this woman was simply wonderful. I just people would stop staring at their screens all of the time!
Lots to enjoy in this shot so best viewed large by pressing 'L'.
