It's 8:05pm and I look out the kitchen window and the sky is looking amazing from our limited view. I check sunset time online - 8:12pm.
Dither around for a minute - do I go out or not?
Finally grab the camera and head up the Adelaide hills in the car at breakneck speed. Just got up there in time but no tripod in the car and precious little time to check camera settings.
So this one was probably the best of Adelaide city on a great sunset evening but really didnt capture how amazing the sky looked.
The Macro Mondays theme for 6/19 is odd and this little yellow fellow seems to want to meander off on his own. (Last week’s posting to MM was neither blue nor a ducky, so I thought I’d portray both this week.)…… there are also two versions of this scene… grin… yes, I dithered.
Will put up the size verification later when I’m on my laptop, but this scene is just under 2 and a half inches.

A couple of other Star themed pictures coming up for 8/22 macro mondays theme to honor Hans Holt.. This one is a strong possibility but I may need to work on it a bit bc it’s too close to the edges— when did I get so picky about my pictures?
**…. a little later- I did fix the bottom edge- more to my satisfaction! It may be my *new* favorite!
Btb this was a tricky one to do bc it was hard to get the focus to stay on the Star and not slip over to the background. 20 months into practicing with my iPhone and I still have things to learn and to master.

The Macro Mondays theme for 9/26 is zigzag and I figure that anything which has edges that have been cut with pinking shears is fair game. There may be several zigzag pictures to dither over. Pretty sure this is the choice for this week.

The Macro Mondays theme for today, 8/16, is paper art. This is what is known as an altered book. The artist has glued together the pages of an actual book and then carved out a space for valuables to be secreted away. In the photostream (and in the first comment box) is a picture of the entire secret space.
Am presently dithering amongst the three macro versions that are in the photostream . This one more clearly shows how the compartment was carved. I’ll choose one in a few minutes. Altered book3

the macro mondays theme for today, 12/16, is handmade. this is one of 4 possibilities. i think this one is my favorite :) dithering soon to commence after uploading.
The Macro Mondays theme for today, 1/31, is currency - real or pretend. I am so literal! Am fairly certain this will be my posting for today— it’s probably the best macro although certainly not the cleanest!!
(earlier)…..There will be a couple of possibilities that I’ll post and then dither about— grin
The Macro Mondays theme for 2/27 is textures and there is an album of ones I gathered together and photographed!! 16 of them!! Was going to dither but my DD took him down from the shelf and gather him a bath and he’s just SO cute and cheery!!
…….I’ll put up the size verification in a bit. This part of him is 2” from side to side
As a side note: I am in the 26th month of a 6 month experiment, taking pictures with my iPhone, and *this* week I learned about using the AE/AF lock to create bokeh!! That’s made me inordinately happy!! There is a blue bokeh picture in the album- or a few pics down from this happy apple guy.

the macromonday theme for today, 6/1, is fill-the-frame. methinks there are 5+ possibilities. this one is probably the most colorful :) resisted virtual dusting today :)
there are 7 possibilities today. in a moment i'll change the order on my photostream putting the ones i like best at the front.... then i'll dither, as i usually do :)

This may be my favorite of the eight or so possibilities for the #MacroMondays theme for today, 6/14, of #PickTwo. I’ll probably put them all up and then dither
The common pheasant (Phasianus colchicus) is a bird in the pheasant family (Phasianidae). The genus name comes from Latin phasianus, "pheasant". The species name colchicus is Latin for "of Colchis" (modern day Georgia), a country on the Black Sea where pheasants became known to Europeans.
The adult male common pheasant of the nominate subspecies Phasianus colchicus colchicus is 60–89 cm (24–35 in) in length with a long brown streaked black tail, accounting for almost 50 cm (20 in) of the total length. The body plumage is barred bright gold or fiery copper-red and chestnut-brown plumage with iridescent sheen of green and purple; but rump uniform is sometimes blue. The wing coverage is white or cream and black-barred markings are common on the tail. The head is bottle green with a small crest and distinctive red wattle. P. c. colchicus and some other races lack a white neck ring. Behind the face are two ear-tufts, that make the pheasant more alert.
Always fun to hang with you, friend. Thanks for being patient with me while I dither around in Black Dragon :)

Apologies if you had commented or even faved this earlier! Have no clue how it got lost.
The Macro Monday theme for 7/24 is buckle. (The admin said we could use a toggle and I extrapolated that to include a clasp, also.) We have a dearth of typical belts, so I went hunting for stand-ins. There are a few possibilities so I’ll dither, naturally. There are 8 possibilities and they’re in the front of the photostream .
This, the worn toggle, and the watch may be my favorites. Am partial to others for various reasons and not necessarily for the MM theme. Will add the size verification shots to the first comment box of each picture in a bit!

the macromonday theme for today, 6/29, is to match one of 4 colors to one of 4 objects. so the main match is is blue & paper and the secondary matches are: blue & pen and blue & flower, all with blue bokeh. (you knew this had to be mine, right?) .... time to dither a bit :)

There aren't much autumn colours here yet; most of the trees are still green or already brown. It looks more like a second spring time as it is finally raining after the very long heat and draught during summer.
Taken with the manual vintage Nikkor 50mm f/1.8 AI (the "diva" of my lenses / wide open) for Crazy Tuesday - theme of October 4, 2022: Leaves
I was dithering so much this time as I had taken quite some leaf images during the last week (even some with autumn colours); but in the end "bokeh madness" won the race : ))
I will catch up in the late evening !
The Macro Mondays theme for 11/28 is bubbles and this picture merges two of my favorite things. The glass is one that I used for a 100 possibilities project eons ago (see links to the album and group below). And I really love this Santa gnome figurine!!…. Santa gnome didn’t fit in the glass so he’s behind one ‘layer’ (side) of the drinking glass.
Took a lot of pictures of things in the glass and pictures of glass paperweights with bubbles inside but this is going to be my MM posting! No dithering tonight!!
Will put up a size verification shot a bit later. His face is under 2 inches.

Part of the influx of blue possibilities for the Macro Mondays theme of blue for 4/24
….. well, I’ve dithered but decided that I’ll use this one for MM. I liked the blue whales a lot and the bowl cozy too, but this one is sleek and shiny!! Really would have liked to use the blue bee (see the photostream) but I’m betting the admins would have thought it was too processed!

My inclination is to choose this one for the Macro Monday posting for the theme of “my closest” for 1/17. Yep, *sprinkles* on chocolate icing!! Very very very close-in because I used a clip-on lens for my phone’s camera. The tick marks behind the sprinkles are *millimeters*, so the one on the far right is 2mm….
There are 8 possibilities of subjects that I’ll post and then I’ll probably dither. My faves for the theme are ** starred:
**the texture of a ribbon
a rawhide knot
a coin,
a candle,
a ceramic cat
a colorful bow,
**these sprinkles
and
a mystery object

HMM- the macro mondays group's theme for today is cutter. it doesn't actually cut per se, but it symbolizes a sword that might have been used to cut in a major way by the scots in war. i measured this and it is 2 and 3/4ths of an inch long and is my favorite possibility for the day. - so there's probably no need to dither!!

3/20……. The ANSH scavenger13 item is smoke and I’m *not* going to light up a puffie, I thought I’d use this as a wildcard.
The Macro Mondays’ theme for 10/18 (2021) is smoke. Took more than 150, culled it down to 20 then 18 (see the screenshot), then further down to 6, but it’s midnight and I still haven’t chosen the one I’ll post. Some major dithering coming up.
Used a stick of incense— thank you, DD. If there is a ducky in the picture/background, it is a mini witch, which it about an inch and a half tall.
Am thinking I can use this for Crazy Tuesdays theme of geometry/geometric shapes. It has 5 triangles and a pentagon in the center! And the bokeh is circles! Now I’ve used each of the 3 stars in different groups— a win-win-win!!
A couple of other Star themed pictures coming up for the Macro Mondays theme on 8/22, to honor Hans Holt… this one is probably my favorite for obvious reasons. but there are two others- one with colorful bokeh and the one i posted to sliders sunday this morning.

Lone tree on The Quiraing, Isle of Skye
Likely to be my last post for just over a week so picked this bracketed 4 shot pano of a classic scene on the Quiraing. I'd tracked down the location from a combination of Flickr photos and Google maps and luckily it's actually easy to spot if you know the rough area. I dithered a bit about how high to have the tree in the frame and decided I wanted it clear of the Lochans and any of the background mountains. There wasn't any light to speak of when I started shooting and got several shots in the bank and about to move on when I spotted a bit of light starting to break through. Never became epic light but the branches on the tree started to catch the light so I fired off several series of shots and this is one.
OK...I know it's a common shot but I haven't shot it before and how could I pass up the chance of getting such a classic shot?!
Thanks for viewing and any faves/comments. Like I said it will be a week plus before I post again and then as well as still having loads of shots to edit already I hope to have some seascapes. Bye for now!

the macromondays' theme for today 12/2 is RED. i think there are 4 contenders. this one is sort of noir-ish and dramatic and 3 people faved it so far-- wow ~grin~ .. time for some coffee and some dithering while i cogitate on which to post :)
(a little later)
AND my DD thinks i should post this one-- so this one it is :)

HMM.......this is one possibility for the macromondays theme for today, 7/16, which is erasers...... SOOC
it's either this one or the smiley face one.... let the dithering begin...

HMM.. so the macromonday group's theme for today, 9/3, is glass and this is my posting-- no dithering today (probably cause it has great refractions and that tiny lens flare ~grin~). it's in my BFF's garden.

have taken a gazillion pictures- 3 of which went up yesterday.

Loch Ba, Glencoe, Scotland
Taking a pause from my Cornwall pics to go back up north to my March trip to Scotland. After a week on Skye I had a few nights in a camping pod near Glencoe which again I had not shot before. The forecast the night before and even that morning led me to believe I might be able to get a good shot of Black Rock Cottage near the Glencoe Mountain resort. I got there before sunrise and parked in the Resort car park and walked back to the cottage but it soon became clear that a band of cloud on the horizon would block out any sunrise sunlight on the cottage. I hung around in case something changed and then in the distance saw mist forming on Rannoch Moor. A couple of minutes of dithering later I decided I'd head back to the car and see if I could grab some mist shots in the Loch Ba/Lochan na-h-Achlaise area. In the end I decided to go for Loch Ba as I thought it might be easier to shoot without having scouted it. Having driven through some sections of pea soup fog I parked up and took the short walk to an area below the normal 'viewpoint' and started about 30mins of frantic snapping as the mist came and went and I tried to look for other compositions.
The above shot was one of those and think it gives a feeling of the peace and quiet I had that morning.....(well apart from the occasional lorry going by). Always pays to keep your eyes on the swivel...perhaps Togs should evolve to copy the necks Owls have!😆
Hope everyone is having a great weekend.

Macro Mondays 'wavy lines' theme.
After lots of dithering yesterday I settled on these scissor blades as an easy shot for the theme. It was much too hot to spend a long time setting up a photo.

A possibility for the Macro Mondays theme of flexible. There are three possibilities- now to dither, although I’m leaning toward the silver links bracket with the little red heart bead…..
…..Dithering done- decided on this one bc I haven’t had one with a bit of blue for a couple of weeks.. grin
the macromondays group's theme for today, 1/14, is hobbies.
have taken classes & workshops in stained glass, fused glass and blowing glass. this represents the glass work, although i didn't make it myself. This and the collecting shells picture are my two favorites. Let the dithering begin.
this fob is just under an inch long
I've dithered about posting this for so long, I've tried so many different versions and titles. I really liked it at first and then I went off it but tonight I'm back thinking maybe I do like it, if I leave it until tomorrow I'll have gone back off it again.
One of several possibilities for the Macro Mondays theme of condiment for August 29. Am liking the little people ones, although the piccalilli without the little people is probably the best macro.
Yes, I am dithering. Maybe when I next wake up, I’ll have an idea of which one I want to use! ........... (later) with the advice from my DD, i am going with this one.

Macro Mondays 'holes' theme.
I took several different photos for this week's 'holes' theme, then dithered about which one to upload, finally deciding on this one of a dark grey plastic slotted serving spoon. It's hangs on a rack and is rarely used as you can tell by the dreaded macro dust!
The image measures 1.25" in width
A photo that goes back a few weeks to my last mountain hike and what a cracking day out on the hills it was. Mark can be seen at the foot of the Nantlle Ridge which was more interesting that it looks from this angle. There were a good few places where hands and feet were required. In fact at one point we came across a party that was ‘almost’ stuck. They did move on but only after a good deal of dithering.
am pretty sure this one is my choice for posting today :)
but let me dither a bit first :)
this is about a half inch square and i am amazed it stayed stuck on the nightlight for what looks like 13 years.
so the macromonday theme for today, 6/15, is label and i've been busily shooting pictures of labels on, attached to, and stamped on products. be prepared for a lot of them to show up in my photostream before i make up my mind :)
"macro mondays" label possibility

this is actually 2 hobbies- collecting shells and making candles, although i must confess i didn't make this particular gel candle.
