The tallest building in NY upon completion in 1899. It held this distinction until 1908 when it was surpassed in height.
"The Park Row Building, also known as 15 Park Row, is a luxury apartment building and early skyscraper on Park Row in the Financial District of the New York City borough of Manhattan. The 391-foot-tall (119 m), 31-story building was designed by R. H. Robertson, a pioneer in steel skyscraper design, and engineered by the firm of Nathaniel Roberts. The Park Row Building includes 26 full floors, a partial 27th floor, and a pair of four-story cupolas. The architectural detail on the facade includes large columns and pilasters, as well as numerous ornamental overhanging balconies. J. Massey Rhind sculpted several ornamental details on the building, including the balconies and several figures atop the building.
The Park Row Building was developed by the Park Row Construction Company as an office building between 1897 and 1899. It used a steel frame and elevators to make it one of the world's tallest buildings at the time. It was constructed over a period of two years and nine months. Upon completion, about 4,000 people worked at the Park Row Building, with tenants such as the Associated Press and the Interborough Rapid Transit Company. Until the completion of the Singer Building in 1908, it was the city's tallest building and the world's tallest office building. The Park Row Building was used as an office structure until the early 2000s, when it was converted to residential use. Today, the Park Row Building consists of 339 luxury apartment units, two penthouse apartments, ground floor retail, and office suites located in the building's historic cupola space.
Upon its completion, the Park Row Building received praise from the general public, although architectural critics reviewed the building more harshly. The New York City Landmarks Preservation Commission gave city landmark status to the Park Row Building in 1999, and the building was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2005.

The fall of 2022 I did my 3rd major cycling tour. I began my adventure in Montreal, Canada and finished in Savannah, GA. This tour took me through the oldest parts of Quebec and the 13 original US states. During this adventure I cycled 7,126 km over the course of 2.5 months and took more than 68,000 photos. As with my previous tours, a major focus was to photograph historic architecture.

T-38 #901 – AN AIRCRAFT OF DISTINCTION
There have been two T-38s to carry the NASA identification of tail number 901. The first, S/N 63-8181, was lost in a crash on February 28, 1966, while landing in a fog at Lambert Field in St. Louis, MO. The next to carry that tail designation is the aircraft we will be receiving, S/N 66-8381. This plane was never flown by any of our military services – it went directly from the manufacturer to NASA.
The history of this aircraft is the history of the American manned space flight program. In April of 1959, NASA announced the selection of seven men to compose the first class of American Astronauts. Our first astronauts were Navy Lieutenant M. Scott Carpenter, Air Force Captains L. Gordon Cooper, Virgil I. “Gus” Grissom and Donald K. “Deke” Slayton, Marine Lieutenant Colonel John H. Glenn, Jr., and Lieutenant Commanders Walter M. Schirra, Jr. and Alan B. Shepard, Jr. Every one of these men flew #901.
These were the astronauts who flew the 6 Mercury missions through 1963. The Gemini program consisted of 10 Earth Orbiter missions from 1965 through 1966, involving 16 different astronauts and all of them have flown #901.
The Apollo Program involved 9 lunar orbiting and landing missions and 6 of those missions resulted in a landing on the moon. The Prime Crew members on each of the 9 missions were a Commander, a Command Module Pilot and a Lunar Module Pilot. There were 24 different astronauts composing the Prime Crews for the 9 missions and all of them flew #901. There were 12 persons who walked on the moon during the 6 lunar landings and all of them flew #901.

Ellerslie International Flower Show, Christchurch March 8, 2013 NZ.
The 2013 show – running from 6-10 March at Christchurch’s North Hagley Park – has attracted high-quality, world-class gardens from a selection of top international exhibitors along with New Zealand’s best gardeners and designers.
The best of British – top garden designer Andrew Fisher-Tomlin and multi award-winning young British brothers Tom and Paul Harfleet – will be exhibiting. Fisher-Tomlin is also Convenor of Judges.
The expanded fashion and food elements are also bound to be a hit and mean Ellerslie International Flower Show has something to tempt people of all ages with varying interests.
Ellerslie International Flower Show Exhibition Manager Kate Hillier says the line-up of exhibits is impressive.
“Ellerslie has built a reputation as New Zealand’s annual flower show and just like the famous Chelsea Flower Show in London forecasts the latest garden design trends and plant fashions. Visitors to Ellerslie get the first chance to see the hottest new plants, colours and looks by the country’s leading landscape architects and garden designers.”
A highlight of the show will be New Zealand’s legendary Weta Workshop featuring their fantasy sculptures in one of the key garden exhibits.
The sculptures will feature in former All Black Andy Ellis and landscape architect Danny Kamo’s exhibition garden – a re-enactment of their successful entry at the 2012 Singapore Garden Festival which won Gold in a field of 15 of the world’s top garden designers. After Singapore the garden was adapted to provide a stunning native bush setting for Johnny Fraser-Allen’s ‘The Gloaming’ exhibition, curated and presented by Weta Workshop’s Sir Richard Taylor and Tania Rodger in Wellington late last year.
The amazing feature garden exhibit will not be judged, it is there to entertain and delight and an opportunity for Christchurch to have Weta Workshop right here in the Garden City.

This series takes on a satirical approach towards the fashion industry. A sense of identity is created based upon the clothing an individual wears. In order to strip that identity away I eliminated the clothing, and adorned each individual with living pieces of nature. In aiming to capture a sense of vulnerability, I attempt to reveal a lack of identity. This raw feeling will continue to exist as we create identity through fashion.

One of the beautiful "Bald Eagle" residents at the WBS. They always seem to have just a touch of dignity to them. Looks good large too. Proud to be using this shot as my 2500th posting on flickr.

The distinction between "doves" and "pigeons" is not consistent.
Pigeons and doves constitute the animal family Columbidae and the order Columbiformes, which includes about 42 genera and 310 species. The related word "columbine" refers to pigeons and doves.

A shot of an Aston Martin DB6 badge taken at the classic car show at Leeds Castle in Kent last year. It was a pretty torrid day weather wise, however I think the raindrops add depth and interest to the shot. I have a full view shot of the car in my 'Car stuff set' on my photostream for those who may be interested. As ever, please view on black. Thankyou.
