SS Rotterdam is the 'Grande Dame' of Rotterdam. It is the biggest passenger ship ever built on Dutch soil and stands testimony to Dutch craftsmanship. SS Rotterdam is the former flagship of the Holland America Line; it sailed the seas from 1959 until its retirement in 2000.

Day 135 Year 4 I am not a pretty girl
that is not what I do
I ain't no damsel in distess
and I don't need to be rescued
so put me down punk
maybe you'd prefer a maiden fair
isn't there a kitten stuck up a tree somewhere
I am not an angry girl
but it seems like I've got everyone fooled
every time I say something they find hard to hear
they chalk it up to my anger
and never to their own fear
and imagine you're a girl
just trying to finally come clean
knowing full well they'd prefer you
were dirty and smiling
and I am sorry
I am not a maiden fair
and I am not a kitten stuck up a tree somewhere
and generally my generation
wouldn't be caught dead working for the man
and generally I agree with them
trouble is you gotta have youself an alternate plan
and I have earned my disillusionment
I have been working all of my life
and I am a patriot
I have been fighting the good fight
and what if there are no damsels in distress
what if I knew that and I called your bluff?
don't you think every kitten figures out how to get down
whether or not you ever show up
I am not a pretty girl
I don't want to be a pretty girl
no I want to be more than a pretty girl

Giraffes have a six foot neck and six foot legs. Think about it, they could look into a second story window. And, to increase their reach, their tongues are up to 21 inches.
Texture thanks to French Kiss, Distessed Jewell, Kim Klassen and SkeletalMess.
I've a video on my blog showing the new Tim Holtz distress crayons and how they resist other media applied over the top 😃

I started with a piece of paper stamped with K5344 La Letter, framed it with the flower -topped die cut frame (from Cricut Storybook cartridge) and then added the embossed butterflies (from CL383 Antique Engravings) that were colored with Ranger dusty concord and wild honey distess inks. Sentiment is on the inside. I really like the old-fashioned feel of this :)
Other Materials Used:
MS leafy branch punch
Stampin' Up cs, pp, swirl stamp and ink
Light green rhinestones
TFL!
Using distress markers for this card, which I sprayed onto the inked up stamp gently with water. I am happy to say that I can still see the swallows here - our Indian Summer is gorgeous!
Here is a card I made using a leaf cut out as a stencil. I sponged on distess inks, coloured the flowers using Memento markers then sprayed with water and stamped.
All stamps from Hero Arts.

Built for a local business...made to look like an old distessed farm table. The skeleton is built from salvaged 2x4s 2x6s and any wood I had. The wrapping is made from barn siding recovered from an 1880s barn in Western NY. It is lightly sanded, varnished and glazed with a pickling stain. An old 1/4" window trim was used for the cove molding.
The top is built from 2x4, 2x6s, 2x8s, and a 2x10 hemlock joists and studs from barns and carriage houses. They are left rough but lightly sanded and varnished to make them soft to the touch. Any rises between boards were planed down to evenness. The top still contains saw marks, barn marks, nail holes etc...to give it texture, but is smooth and soft to the touch. No snags. Its not visible in this photo but the top was simply screwed down to the skeleton with wood screws. I made hemlock pegs to fill the screw holes. Unlike joined pieces this was built more like a picnic table with slight gaps...with the expectation of expansion and contraction with the seasons.
Only the screws and varnish are new materials. All the the wood is reclaimed.

Sometimes I have dreams that harken back in time. I'm sorta' in place and out of place; in location as well as time. I belong in both, but usually not at the same time.
I'm 18 (1968) and 62 (2012). I don't remember the specifics of the dream - just moving about with my 62 year old head and face, dressed in 1968 clothes. I feel out of place, but in place. Younger people dig it. Older people think "well, go on and do it." 30 and 40-somethings think I'm acting up.
I've been a good hippie. Cleaned up, had jobs, let go of the drugs, was a bit kookie, but always within respectable bounds, husband, father, grandfather. Did this for 40 years. Now....what? Feelin' slightly restless. Wish to be more kookie, less respectable? Not sure what that means.
This ain't mid-life, `cause I'm past the mid-life years. Just thought of that. Ain't that a bitch? Went through mid-life without a major crises; just minor ones. Oh well, Hell, I dunno'. :-)))))
Then again, how much credence do we give, should we give, to 3:00 am dreams?
Can one - with these years of life and experience within one - manage to be loving, caring, nurturing, supportive, open, giving and responsible, (ALL of which I Still am and becoming moreso with age) and "stone free" at the same time? No, you can't pull it off at 18 - but how about at 62? Yes? No? Worth a try?
Is riding a motorcycle without a helmet to be the extent of our Easy Rider rebelliousness moved forward 40 years, or do we explore past that to where 60 year olds + have not been before? Stone Free dammit.
The Book on Aging has not been written. We are writing its first chapters now. The pages are empty, the are no foot prints in the path before us, tradition is meaningless. Shit, let me continue what i have begun in the last two years (since turning 60). Let us continue what we began back in the 60's.
Or is this just 3:00 am dreams and semi-waking dreams talking? We shall see.

How I made my Background and colored my Sea Shell:
I colored my sea shell only with one copic marker (the orange one :) cause I have only 18 copics till today :) ). Then I distressing the back paper behind the sea shell with 3 colors of Distess ink (2 different blue and the tea dye one), I used my sponge to take the color from the Ink and gave it to the paper. Then I spread the ink on my wet brush to make an effect like sand on the beach. Last but not least gave white gel pen on the blue area.
I am joining also another challenge with this card....
For more info you can take a peak on my BLOG
Thanks for looking :)
For this frame challenge, I've decided to use 4 frames instead of one. I heat embossed the Delicate Pattern with white and distess the pattern with broken china with a gradual tone. To finish off the card, I used pearl accents to make a flourish pattern and coloured some the pearls with the matching blue with copics.
T-shirt design I created for Butch Walker. Limited edition package that comes with a record.

This is my card for this week's Simon Says Stamp and Show challenge - to showcase your favorite technique. There are so many techniques that I love, so I really can’t pick a favorite. Instead, I did a watercolour background with Distress Inks, which is one of the techniques I use the most; I just love the unexpected results you get with this technique. Smear distress inks on your craft sheet, mist with water and dip or drag your cardstock into this. If you are happy with the result leave it (it usually looks even better when it has dried), if you want more colour, dry with a heat gun and re-dip into the ink. Sometimes I mist the paper with water first, that helps the colours to blend even more. This technique works best with watercolour paper, or, for example, manila cardstock. Every time I have left over distress inks on my craft sheet, I take a piece of scrap watercolour paper and drag it through the mix.
Here I used the new Summer Distess Inks (Mowed Lawn and Salty Ocean) and the result looked like a landscape from high above. I added just a bit of stamping to the background, not wanting to cover too much of it up. The stamping was done with Mowed Lawn, Salty Oceans and Frayed Burlap. The edges of the watercolour paper were distressed and then stitched to the cardstock base which was also sanded around the edges.
The hot-air balloon stamp I wanted to use was too big, so I turned to another favorite, shrink plastic. The balloon was stamped three times on shrink plastic with Stazon Jet Black ink. I shrunk the pieces with my heat gun, but you can do it in the oven too. Flatten them with the back of a woodmounted stamp or another flat surface. Be careful, the pieces get hot! After shrinking the pieces, they were coloured with alcohol inks, backed with an old dictionary paper and coated with Glossy Accents. The glossy accents adds a really nice finished look to the shrink plastic pieces. TFL!

This card was created using the variety and quality stamp. After I stamped my image I die cut circles from differnt areas of the stamped image. Inked, and placed them on different levels with pop dots along a diagonal. The TH gears added ther perfect touch. The pp is Pink Paislee(queen bee). Other stamps used bold flourish, and greeting from cuckoo. Distess inks (tumbled glass, rusty hinge) Giant gem brad Pink Paislee.

Well I have started. I used Distess Inkpads, stamping, paint dabbers, cardboard heart stamps, rubber stamps, rub-ons and doodling. I am looking forward to trying lots of new techniques along the way and also expanding on my journalling.

I covered a cake board with an old map, drew a treasure map on it - distessed it with crayon, strong tea, red food coloring "blood" splatters and a lighter on some of the edges. It came out pretty cool I think
c1968, A somewhat distessed negative. I shot this with my new 450mm telephoto lens. This same view today is just a blank vista of nohingness. Its called progress, so I am told. Canon A1
All measurements approximate, because let's be honest - I'm far too lazy to actually measure stuff like that out.
2 cups fresh spinach ( I <3 fresh spinach and put it in all kinds of stuff... omelets, pasta)
1 cup mixed spring greens
5 cherry tomatoes
1/4 red bell pepper (yum!)
1/8 green bell pepper
2 tbsp. chopped celery
1/4 cup mung bean sprouts
1/4 cup alfalfa sprouts
1/4 cup kidney beans
1 tbsp. shredded carrots
1/2 boiled egg (whites only. cooked egg yolks give me the heebie jeebies)
1 tsp. roasted sunflower seeds
1 tbsp. blue cheese (which really, in my book should be its own foodgroup)
6 or so thin slices cucumber
Dressed with 1 tbsp. plain balsamic vinegar.
