My visit today to the Belarusian National Technical University in Minsk to attend the PhD Dissertation Defense of the Iraqi student Mr. Ali Muslim Abed in the sphere of Mechanical Engineering. Wished him and all Iraqi students in Belarus success.

A great example of the delay between content generation and file upload can be see as i cross the Thames. The picture, taken on the Thames didn't make it to the server till i was inland a fair bit. Using EXIF data to plot the image point instead of file created time would solve this... but how do i get around the even greater delay caused when uploading a video which doesn't have EXIF?! Use some fake maths based on filesize to back track where it probably should have been?!
It seems to be compulsory to post a picture of your dissertation after you have handed it in...

All day, I've been trying to get psyched up, but it only lasts a few minutes before I'm back with my head on the table.
The dirty truth? I hate my dissertation.
It had so much potential, but I have failed it. And, by default, I feel like I've failed the people in the mountains who I'm writing about (ethnography's a bitch in that way). I understand this is a normal relationship to have at the end of a dissertation. But I feel no pride in it. I think that's the worst part. All this work for something I'm not even proud of.
Maybe tomorrow will be better. 'Cause all the brownies in the world couldn't help today.
