Poppies have lobed or dissected leaves, milky sap, often nodding buds on solitary stalks, and four- to six-petaled flowers with numerous stamens surrounding the ovary. The two sepals usually drop off as the petals unfold. The ovary develops into a spherical capsule topped by a disk formed by the stigmas. The many small seeds escape from pores beneath the disk when the capsule is shaken by the wind.

Backlit Japanese Maple tree. Cultivar matsumurae. A perennial and monoic plant.
Acer palmatum, commonly known as Japanese maple, palmate maple, or smooth Japanese maple, is a species of woody plant native to Japan, Korea, China, eastern Mongolia, and south-east Russia. Many different cultivars of this maple have been selected and they are grown worldwide for their large variety of attractive forms, leaf shapes, and spectacular colors.
Acer palmatum has been cultivated in Japan for centuries and in temperate areas around the world since the 1800s. The first specimen of the tree reached Britain in 1820.
When Swedish doctor-botanist Carl Peter Thunberg travelled in Japan late in the eighteenth century, he produced drawings of a small tree that would eventually become synonymous with the high art of oriental gardens. He gave it the species name palmatum after the hand-like shape of its leaves, similar to the centuries-old Japanese names kaede and momiji, references to the 'hands' of frogs and babies, respectively.
Japanese horticulturalists have long developed cultivars from maples found in Japan and nearby Korea and China. They are a popular choice for bonsai enthusiasts and have long been a subject in art.
Numerous cultivars are popular in Europe and North America, with red-leafed favoured, followed by cascading green shrubs with deeply dissected leaves.
Acer palmatum includes thousands of named cultivars with a variety of forms, colours, leaf types, sizes, and preferred growing conditions.
Preparations from the branches and leaves are used as a treatment in traditional Chinese medicine.

Western jackdaw (Coloeus monedula) dissecting some insect while perched on a branch. Judging by its plumage it's a nordic variety (Coloeus monedula monedula) which is a bit of surprise, as they should only be present here in winter.

Papaver orientale, the Oriental poppy, a perennial flowering plant native to the Caucasus, northeastern Turkey, and northern Iran.
Oriental poppies grow a mound of leaves that are hairy and finely dissected in spring. They gather energy and bloom in mid-summer. After flowering the foliage dies away entirely, a property that allows their survival in the summer drought of Central Asia.
Common name: Japanese Maple.
Botanical name: Acer palmatum.
Family: Sapindaceae.

The village of Pelynt in south-east Cornwall is about four miles north-west of Looe. Taking the country road west from Pelynt towards Polruan on the coast near Fowey we pass through gorgeous rolling countryside that is dissected by numerous streams and small wooded valleys. Farmsteads like the one pictured are dotted across the countryside.
Sheep Mountain, north of Greybull Wyoming, is a highly dissected anticline. At it center lies a prominent 15 mile long ridge which corresponds to the double plunging anticline’s crest. The photo shows the southwest end of the canyon cut by Bighorn River through the anticline’s core about 1/3 of the way along the ridge from its north end. Sheep Mountain Canyon measures about a 1,000 feet deep at its maximum. Because of the afternoon shadow in the photo, it is hard to see the railroad tracks that run along the river’s west bank through the canyon. The Mississippian Madison Limestone makes up most of the cliffs in the photo above. The Pennsylvanian Amsden and Tensleep Sandstone overlie the Madison as seen in the upper lefthand corner of the photo. The Sheep Mountain anticline is a Laramide fold that formed along buried back thrust faults. This view shows the southwest limb of the fold. The northeast limb is steeper.

The Sea Holly was flowering in the midst of a garden bed at the entrance of the Wilson Botanic Park. Their leaves were contrasting against those of the other plants showing their variagation and dissected nature (Eryngium sp). I have tried to get some of this plant for my place but may have to buy it online.
I don't wanna dissect everything today

Trascau Mts. are part of the Western Carpathian Mts. in Romania. The Trascău Range is about 80 km long, and the maximum elevation is 1,370 m (Dambau Peak). They are composed mainly of limestones, conglomerates, and igneous rocks. They are deeply dissected, and karst has developed.

The Adobe Badlands is characterized by abruptly sloping hills dissected by rugged, serpentine canyons. Most of this is composed of Mancos shale formations that create a sparsely vegetated badlands landscape known locally as "the adobes." In portions of the area, wind and water erosion have created isolated small mesas surrounded by a maze of deeply-carved canyons, washes, and ravines. Vegetation includes low saltbush, desert trumpet, buckwheat, grasses, the Uinta Basin hookless cactus, and pinyon-juniper. Fauna includes deer, elk, pronghorn antelope, prairie dogs, badgers, coyotes, bobcats, red-tailed hawks and golden eagles. Within the Mancos shale formations are ancient marine deposits containing numerous fossils.
Cot valley is a beautiful valley dissected by a narrow stream running northwest to the coast between Land's End and Cape Cornwall. At the bottom of the sub-tropical valley you will find Cot Valley Beach (also known as Porth Nanven Cove). The area has become a famous bird watching spot and incredibly rare sightings have been made here including a yellow-billed Cuckoo native to America. Cornish choughs have been spotted frequently in the valley, as well as an array of other vagrant and migratory birds. The cove is generally made up of boulders so it's not ideal if you are hunting for golden sands, but a small sandy beach does appear on a low tide. Progo beach, a smaller inlet to the south, can be reached by meandering through boulders on the beach at low tide. Its characteristic large smooth boulders have lead some people to nick name the beach "Dinosaur Egg Beach". About one nautical mile offshore sit the Brisons; a twin-peaked islet.
The hive on the horizon seems to grow in size every day.
Maybe that rustling wasn't just the wind. Best not to think about it.

A fine feast for this visitor to our garden, our native Squirrel, one of this years brood feasting on the the seeds from the Scots Pine cones, each one carefully selected and dissected for the seeds.
Though common and widespread across northern Europe and Siberia, they are under threat in Britain from direct competition with the introduced Eastern Grey Squirrel. Now common only in Scotland, Ireland and Northern England with isolated pockets in the South and Wales: the Red Squirrel is now subject to extensive conservation measures to retain and expand the UK population.
