I went to the lake last Wednesday, the day the snow came in - we had 7 inches of snow overnight that night, which is highly unusual for us. Several ducks were enjoying the lake, when they took off en masse. Soon I saw the reason: this bald eagle had flown in to check on the dining options.
Another shot from yesterday morning after I'd been rudely awoken by mother nature. I'm glad I made the effort to get out of bed! Taken at Ocean Reef, Western Australia. For those who are interested, this is a single shot of 30 seconds at f/8, ISO100
This osprey was calmly watching for a fish, but the crows kept harassing it. This was one of the flybys.

A visit to the forest was very much needed to stretch my legs for an hour. I walked around just as the mist was lifting! But! Just Imagine how it could have looked if I had got there earlier ...And it was really misty!

A new fighter design - perhaps influenced slightly by the the style of craft in the video game "Destiny".
Finally got some parts in to finish my large mecha but I'm deep into a home renovation/rewiring project at the moment, so here is a fighter I managed to get together over the course of the last couple weeks. When I get a break I will resume "mech"ing it up.

🇳🇱 Sinds enkele weken beschikt RheinCargo over een Vectron, de 7193 101, geleased van AlphaTrains. Deze loc draagt een opvallende en fraaie kleurstelling ter ere van de samenwerking tussen beide bedrijven en het 25-jarig jubileum van RheinCargo. Hoewel de loc nog niet veel diensten heeft gereden, stond er op 30 december een bijzondere klus op de planning: de laatste (lege) kolenstoftrein Zizers SBB - Frechen gereden door RHC. Aanvankelijk was er een fotostop gepland in Pratteln, maar deze werd verplaatst naar Frick om het reguliere treinverkeer niet te verstoren.
Om 21:41 reed trein 48088 station Frick binnen, waar hij bijna een half uur lang uitgebreid gefotografeerd kon worden. Na vele geslaagde foto’s vervolgde de 7193 101 zijn reis richting Duitsland. Dank aan het personeel van RHC dat deze prachtige fotostop mogelijk heeft gemaakt!
Dit was overigens mijn laatste foto van 2024, een bijzonder mooi jaar op treinenvlak en in het algemeen voor mij. Gelukkig nieuwjaar allemaal en op naar een nóg beter 2025!
🇬🇧 For several weeks now, RheinCargo has a Vectron, the 7193 101, leased from AlphaTrains. This locomotive features a striking and attractive livery, created to celebrate the partnership between the two companies and RheinCargo’s 25th anniversary. While the locomotive hasn’t yet operated many services, a special assignment was scheduled for December 30: the final (empty) coal dust train from Zizers SBB to Frechen operated by RHC. Initially a photo stop was planned in Pratteln, but this was moved to Frick to avoid disrupting regular train traffic.
At 21:41, train 48088 arrived at Frick station, where it could be extensively photographed for nearly half an hour. After many successful shots, the 7193 101 continued its journey toward Germany. Many thanks to the RHC staff who made this wonderful photo stop possible!
This was my last photo of 2024—a truly special year in terms of trains and life in general for me. Happy New Year everyone, and here’s to an even better 2025!
🇩🇪 Seit einigen Wochen verfügt RheinCargo über eine Vectron, die 7193 101, geleast von AlphaTrains. Diese Lok trägt eine auffällige und ansprechende Lackierung, die anlässlich der Zusammenarbeit der beiden Unternehmen und des 25-jährigen Jubiläums von RheinCargo gestaltet wurde. Obwohl die Lok bisher noch nicht viele Einsätze hatte, stand am 30. Dezember ein besonderer Auftrag auf dem Plan: der letzte (leere) Kohlenstoffzug von Zizers SBB nach Frechen gefahren von RHC. Ursprünglich war ein Fotohalt in Pratteln geplant, dieser wurde jedoch nach Frick verlegt, um den regulären Zugverkehr nicht zu beeinträchtigen.
Um 21:41 erreichte Zug 48088 den Bahnhof Frick, wo er fast eine halbe Stunde lang ausgiebig fotografiert werden konnte. Nach zahlreichen gelungenen Aufnahmen setzte die 7193 101 ihre Reise Richtung Deutschland fort. Vielen Dank an das RHC-Personal, das diesen wunderbaren Fotohalt ermöglicht hat!
Das war übrigens mein letztes Foto des Jahres 2024 – ein wirklich besonderes Jahr, sowohl in Bezug auf Züge als auch allgemein für mich. Ein frohes neues Jahr an alle und auf ein noch besseres 2025!
