Awaken Summer kicked off last night and we ended up closing the park out. Something I don't think I've ever done at Animal Kingdom. It's always exicting to experience new things at Disney and the new offerings at Animal Kingdom that began last night are what will be the start of a fun summer season!

I've been experimenting with different composite HDR techniques, and think I may have settled on a new one. Lightroom CC’s in-house app works pretty well, but the ghost removal is horrible compared to Photoshop or NIK. Doing a bit of both, where the output and color adjustments are done in Lightroom, and then compositing another output from Photoshop in areas that need some touch up. Liking the results so far. Image seems cleaner and more balanced. Please view at my website for full details and let me know what you think!

Here is a throwback Firework Friday shot of Wishes from the rose gardens back before the double-hub. They offered FP viewing for a pretty limited time in the grass, and it turned out to be a really nice spot to watch while it was offered. So much better than the standing-only crowded FP area around the hub grass area.

Seeing the Cinderella Castle Dreamlights turn on for the first time each season is always such a treat. I really do like the lighting show as well. It's a nice touch to an awesome view. Love this time of year!

Ring the front desk if you need anything... like a pair of new underwear.

Happy Fireworks Friday everyone! Here's a shot from Echo Lake of Symphony in the Stars. This is an absolute favorite fireworks show of mine, and can't wait for the next version to come out in June!

One of the coolest meet & greet characeters at Walt Disney World is DeVine, seen around Disney's Animal Kingdom.

I was thinking of this show today, so here's a throwback to a fun show that the kids and I enjoyed a lot.

Hard work pays off. Sometimes more than less, sometimes not at all. Through the highs and low... the net gain always pays off. I'm almost there!

Watching Festival of Fantasy from the Magic Kingdom hub is definitely one of the best spots. Getting Cinderella's Castle in the shot makes it even more fun!

This is another Flickr repost as I'm focusing on my website, 500px, and Instagram. Please follow me on those channels!

Had the chance to check out the Top of the World Lounge with some friends last weekend. The view was pretty nice.

I don’t know about you, but my favorite time of year is coming up… Halloween! Although we may not be going to MNSSHP this year, the event and especially the parade are the highlights of the season for me. Anyone else can’t wait for this year’s fall events to get started?!

It's been an incredibly long time since I've stayed past park close just to photograph. Ironically now that photography is a full time gig, I'm spending less and less time in the parks photographing simply for pleasure. It was nice to stick around way past park close and have the park to myself for a bit.

Even Rapunzel's Tower gets the Halloween treatment during Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party. Hope that everyone going tonight has a great time and I can't wait to see everyone's pics from it!

Mount Prometheus and Fortress Explorations at Disney's most visually stunning theme park.

Scenes from last night’s Kiss Goodnight Vigil at the Magic Kingdom. So much emotion from last night seeing thousands show up for a moment of silence during the already emotional Kiss Goodnight. I was so moved by the number of participants and the amount of love and support from the Disney community. My heart is broken for this city but the amount of support and strength that has been pouring out of it makes me proud and hopeful.

Crazy to think we're only a couple days away from MSEP being one forever. Hoping I'll get at least one or two more visits in before it's farewell step-off!

Happy May the 4th everyone! Thanks for following along.

A throwback shot to more than a year ago when friends were goofing around Bay Lake Tower and the Contemporary Resort. We caught an awesome sunset that night. Fun times!

I may or may not have accidentally passed out yesterday after a long day of photo shoots before successfully heading out to Magic Kingdom for the final Main Street Electrical Parade. I had the intention of making it out there, but after getting home and putting the kids to bed⦠apparently I needed sleep too. Canât wait to see everyoneâs shots from last night. I heard it was incredibly busy out there. So long Main Street Electrical Parade! Iâll miss you, although not as much as Spectromagic, and canât wait to see whatâs in store for the future!

Also, it's kinda nice having power and internet back on in the home office. We made it thru Hurricane Matthew without any major damage, and only had the issue of power loss for 2.5 days. Good to be back and posting again!

It doesnât matter how many times Iâve seen this show⦠Every time I see it in person it just simply incredible. This year we had the extreme fortune to be able to watch from the Fast Pass area at the front of World Showcase. What an incredible location! The finale was legitimately overwhelming in size at this location. The only unfortunate circumstance was the extreme Florida humidity which cause a ton of smoke, and the wind was of course blowing it all in our direction.

It was so much fun spending time with family and fellow photographers. We had a nice little tripod row of about 10 going again at the back of the FP+ section. Canât wait to see everyoneâs shots!

Japan is by far one of the most popular locations to watch and photograph Illuminations from in EPCOT. One rainy night last year we decided to watch from the balcony, but not in the usual corner spot, but further down near the end of the restaurant. I’ve been sitting on it for a while because I wasn’t sure it worked, but I think I may have finally gotten to the point where I like it. Where is your favorite spot to watch Illuminations from?

Florida sunsets have been the best lately. All these afternoon thunderstorms have been helping with that!

This is a repost from a while ago. Seems fitting as Frozen Ever After opening is just around the corner...

After taking a final farewell voyage around Maelstrom and its tribute to Norway on its final night of operation, the only other fitting way I could think of sending off the area as it’s been known for some time, was to shoot Illumination from the pavilion. While trying to find the good spot for the show… I began realizing why there aren’t many shots of Illuminations from this pavilion, as say Japan or Germany, which are both great spots to shoot and watch from. The view isn’t really that great in Norway and much of the ground fireworks and the globe are covered by tree cover.

Still, it was fun shooting the show from here and watching the last few visitors come off the ride during the show. It will be very interesting to see how this are changes over the next few years.

There are some Fast Pass+ options that are certainly more useful than others. There's aren't many "viewing reservation" options that are worth it to me, but Festival of Fantasy is one that I can never pass up if the opportunity arises. This spot offers either a fair chance at getting a prime spot at the front of the rope with Cinderella's Castle in the background, or the case of this instance, an unobstructed lane to walk back and forth in the entire available area to get different angles during the parade.

I've only gotten one chance so far to watch the new Star Wars stage show at Hollywood Studios. Lots of photo opportunities for sure, but it definitely amounts to a fancy step-and-repeat for famous Star Wars characters. I was lucky enough to time this shot when Boba Fett fired his gun. The blast is not PhotoShopped in!

Get out and vote tomorrow if you haven't yet. Darth Vader commands it.

Although the new Star Wars show at Hollywood Studios lacks a bit of dramatic excitement, it does win points for having a lot of photo ops. It was fun seeing all the different characters come out between favorite clips from the Star Wars cinemas.

I love going on this ride with the family! My son's favorite character is Ariel right now. Do you blame him? It's amazing how much detail is in this ride too. So many scenes pulled right from the movie!

Since I missed Firework Friday, here’s my firework shot that I would have posted last week. Another capture from the viewing area in Liberty Square overlooking the Liberty Belle paddleboat, Harper’s Mill, and the Haunted Mansion in the distant background. This, like the similar shot from this series, is a 2-shot composite. I used a long exposure shot that was taken after the fireworks to boost the unrecoverable shadows that would have been left dark in this composition, like the left side around Harper’s Mill.

Hello, everyone! We recently returned from a fantastic trip to Newport Rhode Island for work and family, so I’ve been pretty inactive online. Should be getting back to regular posts now. Thanks everyone for following along!

Fall is finally here in Central Florida. It's so nice being able to have the windows open during the morning hours at least and makes runs so much more tolerable! Hope everyone is enjoying this weather!

Had a little fun with Photoshop today and edited Kylo Ren’s lightsaber to look more realistic. Definitely not 100% to the movie, but had fun learning some new techniques to get it to where it is now!

I’ll be heading out to EPCOT in a little bit today with the family to revisit Frozen Ever After again. Our FastPasses are lined up for a couple weeks until school is back in session!

One of my favorite spots to watch Wishes from is over by Harper's Mill!

I'm really going to miss this show. This is such an iconic shot of this show, and still gets me excited every time I watch it.

Looking forward to getting some new looks for the show this week. I realized yesterday when looking for shots to post that the last time I actually shot Wishes was back in November. I've probably been out to MK 20+ times since then, and probably watched Wishes 10 out of those times. Funny how things change!

Woah... front row seats totally rock, dude!
