Classic Disney Princess Tiana Doll - 12''
US Disney Store
$14.95
Released online June 10, 2013.
The new Tiana doll for 2013 is almost identical to the 2012 doll, except for a few small changes, and the change in her legs (which is not visible in these photos). Her hairdo reverts back to the afro style that the 2011 doll sported, with 3 side curls rather than the 4 of the 2012 doll. Her white gloves are missing, and the green gem in her flower is replaced with a yellow one. It is hard to tell from the stock photos, but her white satin dress seems to be less shiny. I think all the changes are steps backwards, and prefer the 2012 model.
A major change, common to all the 2013 Classic Princess dolls, is the replacement of the fully articulated legs with the old rubber legs, with fixed angled feet and internal knee joints. I would rather that they fixed the problems with the 2012 legs, but the rubber legs do look a lot better, with the disadvantage of being much less posable.
The 2013 Disney Princess Classic Doll Collection, released on June 10, 2013. They consist of 11-12'' articulated dolls of the 11 official Disney Princesses, from Snow White to Merida, as well as Princes, Villains and Sidekicks. Images from the US Disney Store website. When I get the dolls in person, I will also photograph them boxed, during deboxing and fully deboxed. I will also post reviews and comparative photos.

I went to my local Disney Store today for the limited release Mickey Mouse Memories Collection. It is the first of twelve monthly releases to celebrate the 90th anniversary of Mickey Mouse. There were half a dozen adults waiting in line with me before store opening, including a CM of the store with two of his young children. I got the plush, mug and pin set. I also wanted to get the ornament set, but they said they didn't have that, and were not scheduled to get any. So I had to get the ornaments online. I also wanted two of the pin sets, but they said they were limited to one per guest. This is my one and only Mickey plush, as I don't collect Mickey, but he is very cool, as I love the older Mickey Mouse cartoons. He stands 15 inches tall to the top of his head, or 16 inches to the top of his ears. He is soft and cuddly, but his skin is like a faux leather. There are small images of Steamboat Willie at the helm embroidered throughout the doll. He can't free stand, and he can't sit up straight either without support. The pins were small and plain, but very nice looking, and for a good price. The mug has a matte surface, and has the same Walt quote printed on the inside as is on the underside of the plush Mickey's foot.

2016 Classic Snow White has been completely deboxed. She is standing, supported by a Kaiser stand (not included with the doll). The bluebird figurine is perched on her index figure (he can also be placed on her thumb).
Added detailed photos of Snow White. The glitter covered cape is a bit stiff, but I do like the glitter skirt, since it keeps its shape better than a plain satin skirt. It is similar to the skirt of the 2014 Classic Snow White and the 2013 Singing Snow White 12'' dolls. However, the gold glitter from the skirt does shed, and found its way on her rubber legs, even though she had tissue paper wrapped around them. The best new feature of this Snow White doll is the blue bird figurine. It's claws can grasp the doll's index finger or thumb very securely. It is reminiscent of the blue bird that comes with the LE Snow White 17'' doll, but is much less accurate and realistic, as it is entirely blue except for his eyes and beak. My doll came with hair that was a bit messy and lopsided, but she still looks very pretty. I will post side by side comparisons with previous Classic Snow White dolls soon.

Detailed photos of the Rapunzel Limited Edition Maquette by Enesco. She is part of the Walt Disney Archives Collection. She costs $175, half the original cost of the Elsa maquette. I ordered her from the Disney Store on October 3, and received her today (October 12). She was originally announced as LE 5000, to be released in February 2017, but was delayed many months and reduced in edition size. My Rapunzel is 207 of 1200. The number is on the Certificate of Authenticity, as well as under the base of the maquette. She is very pretty, and well painted, although there are a few minor paint flaws. There are some stray paint marks on her face, but they are not glaring errors. Her surface is rougher than that of the Elsa and Anna maquettes in the same series. She isn't as spectacular as the Elsa maquette, but I like her better than the Anna, and am very glad I got her.
I show Rapunzel alone from all angles. I also show her next to the Elsa and Anna maquettes. Rapunzel is 8 3/4 inches high, and with the base is 9 1/2 inches high. This compares to the 9 1/2 inch Anna (10 1/4 with the base), and the 9 1/4 inch Elsa (9 3/4 with the base).
Dressed in some aweful 90's looking thing.
Anybody know the year range on this?
Bought off bay.
Gifted to my daughter.
My 2015 Limited Edition Aladdin 18 Inch Doll has been fully deboxed. He is free standing, with his sword in his right hand. I have left out the Abu figure from these photos.
I got LE Aladdin in person from the Disney Store on the release day (October 13, 2015) for the Aladdin Diamond Edition DVD and Limited Edition Jasmine, Aladdin and Jafar dolls. He is 18 inches tall, and is numbered 2094 of 3500. He has the same construction as the male LE dolls starting from the 2013 Prince Eric doll, with ball jointed elbows, wrists and ankles. He is in his street rat outfit, with a sword and Abu as accessories. He is barefoot and stands flat footed in the box.
Photos only now being uploaded to my Flickr account a year and a half later. I am missing most of the boxed and deboxing photos. I have added a recently taken photo of the Certificate of Authenticity.
Here are some detailed photos of the March set of Mickey Mouse Memories limited release plush, mug and pin set. They were on display at my local Disney Store. They will be released in stores and online in the US next week, on Saturday, March 17, 2018. I also place my January Mickey Mouse Memories plush next to the March plush, to compare their sizes. The March plush has a head about the same size, but his torso is smaller, and he is slightly shorter. He is made from a shiny vinyl like material in his shorts, shoes and nose, and a canvas like material in his upper body, including his head. I'm still undecided on whether I will get him, as his multi-colored pattern is a little too garish for my taste, and he is smaller than the January one.

I was lucky enough to get Belle at the Disney Store today. There was about 70 people entered in the raffle, the most of any release in the series, so I was surprised and happy that I got picked. She is the sixth and final Premiere Series doll to be released. She is #1132 of 4500. I now have all six of the dolls, all gotten first hand, and am glad that the releases are finally over.
I love Belle's face and hair, her Beast purse and her jewelry, but her dress isn't one of my favorites from this series. My doll has some stains on her face, that look like stray hair product. I will clean them off when I debox her. Some strands of her earrings were stuck in her hair, that I freed when I took all the covers off the doll box.

The Prince has been fully deboxed. He is free standing.
Detailed photos of the Prince LE 17 inch doll, by the Disney Store. I purchased him in person on the release day, August 1, 2017. He is #1380 of 3000. He is actually 18 inches tall, and has the same body as the other Prince dolls in the same line (except for the Beast). He has pivot jointed neck, ball jointed shoulders, elbows, wrists, hips and ankles, and hinge jointed knees. He can free stand fairly stably, but for most of the photos of him standing after being deboxed, he is in his included display stand.

Inner box has been taken out of the outer box.
I got the Ariel and Eric 'Kiss the Girl' playset yesterday (Tuesday October 23) from my local Disney Store. It came out in the UK about three weeks ago, and I have been anxiously waiting for it to arrive in the US since then. It is in some stores in the US, but not online in the US ShopDisney site yet. It costs $59.95 (twice as much as the previous Classic Disney Doll playsets that came out this year), and is in a huge box. It has Ariel and Eric in a rowboat, with fishes and Flounder spouting water around them. There is also a Sebastian figure, and two more outfits for Ariel (mermaid and pink). I show the set boxed, during deboxing, and fully deboxed in various configurations. I put the set in front of the background formed by the inner box, and finally rebox the set.
Ariel is sporting her blue kingdom tour dress, and finally has her hair parted in the correct side of her head (on her left). She also has some heavily gelled bangs on her right side reminiscent of Snow Queen Elsa's crown of bangs.
Eric is in white shirt and blue pants, with black boots. He is remarkable in that he is the first Classic Prince doll to be fully articulated. He has the same body as Li Shang and Flynn Rider of the 2017 Disney Designer Collection limited edition doll sets. So he has a swivel jointed neck, and ball jointed elbows, wrists, hips, knees and ankles. He can also sit without splaying his legs. As with most Prince dolls, he has a smaller head than his Princess, Ariel, which looks strange when they are side by side.
The boat can be separated from the base, consisting of the plastic water and fish. The oars can be separated from the boat. Sebastian can free stand, or can be inserted into peg at the bow of the boat.
This is a great set, and I think is worth the cost. The only problem is to find a place to put it, especially if it is out of the box.

Evil Queen Disney Villains Designer Collection Doll
Personal Photos - Deboxed
The doll has been entirely freed from all shipping restraints, undressed, reclothed, and finally placed back on the included doll stand. The dress was VERY tight and unyielding around her legs, so lifting her out of the doll stand took quite a bit of effort. Putting her back on the stand was even more of an adventure. In fact, in hindsight, I should have taken her dress off BEFORE trying to remove her from the stand. And likewise, I should have placed her on the stand BEFORE putting her dress on.
While trying to put her on the stand while dressed, there was so much resistance that I actually broke the plastic head piece of the stand, where it connected to the metal rod. I did a makeshift repair of the stand, making it sturdy enough to place the Evil Queen back on the stand and be stable enough to pose her for photographs. I will have to superglue the pieces back together when I have a bit of time.
Her outfit is not very movie accurate, but is luxurious looking, and fit for a Queen. At least the colors of the dress, cape and collar are close to those of the movie. The deep purple velvet dress, with purple satin liner, is sewn to the cape and collar. The collar is white two layered satin. The cape is black velvet with a red satin lining. The gloves are deep purple satin. Her crown, which is sewn to her hair, is matte finish golden plastic, with small ruby rhinestones. Her bracelet-like main part of her belt consists of three strands of rhinestones in gold, with a large ruby jewel in the center. From the center hangs two strands of rhinestones in gold ending in chain link tassles. She has gold beaded earrings that are similar to those of LE 17'' Belle.
Her dramatic makeup and scowling, haughty face reminds me of Gloria Swanson as Norma Desmond in Sunset Boulevard. She has thin double arched eyebrows, rooted eyelashes with superlong antennae-like lashes at the ends. She has violet eyeshadow with dark purple eyeliner, eyes narrowed to slits, from which small green irises peer straight ahead. She has blood red lips in a grimace. There is a hint of red rouge on her cheeks.

The new Classic Maleficent doll has been fully deboxed and is posing standing up with her arms outstretched. She is supported by a metal doll stand (not included with the doll). She is photographed from all angles.
Review of Classic Maleficent Doll
Her head and face are much more movie accurate than that of the Designer Maleficent, but don't approach the accuracy (and beauty) of the Mattel Great Villains Maleficent doll. She has a head that is considerably larger than the Mattel doll, and it does look too large for her body. Her molded horns are made of hollow black pastic that is glued onto her head. Her 'hood' is a molded part of her head. The horns are missing the purple lines demarking the sections. They have a matte surface, which doesn't look or feel quite as nice as the velvety surface of the Mattel doll's horns and hood. Her head is long and narrow, with a aquiline and very long chin, which is not as pointy as is should be. Her face has the same pale green color as the Mattel doll and movie character. She has narrow beady black eyes with purple eyeshadow from her lids to her arched thin black eyebrows. Her wide mouth has bright red lips and form a scowl. Her overall expression is gloomy, as if she has just heard very disappointing news. I like the Mattel doll's expression much more, which is that of gleeful, smug, evil satisfaction, as if she is just about to vanquish her enemies, which is more in keeping with Maleficent's character. The Mattel doll also has deeper red lips, more like blood red, which I also prefer.
Classic Maleficent has the same body construction as the other 11-12'' dolls in the 2012-2013 Disney Princess Classic Doll Collection, that started with Classic Merida in April 2012. Her skin color is a pale green all over, except for her molded black horns and painted on black panties. She has neck, shoulder, elbow, wrist, hip, knee and ankle joints. Her head is on a ball joint that allows 360 degrees rotation about a horizontal plane, and tilting 10 degrees down, 30 degrees back, and 30 degrees towards the left and right. Perhaps I was a little too forceful testing the tilting of her head for this review, since her right horn started to become unglued from her head. :( This was after these photos were taken. I will have to superglue it back when I get a chance. Her shoulder have ball joints 360 degree rotation in a vertical plane and tilting about 90 degrees from the vertical. Her elbows are also ball joints, that allows 90 degrees tilt inward and 30 degrees outwards. Her wrists are hinge and pivot joints that allow 360 degrees rotation and can tilt 90 degrees backward and 45 degrees forward. Her hips have ball joints that allow rotation about a plane 30 degrees from the vertical, and tilting 30 degrees outward. Her knees are hinge joints that allow tilting 80 degrees backwards and 10 degrees forward. Finally her ankles are hinge/pivot joints like her wrists, allowing 360 rotation, 45 tilt upwards and 80 degrees downwards. She has much more posability than the Mattel Maleficent. She is missing the red painted nails and magic black and gold ring of the movie character and the Mattel doll. Also her green neck is exposed, when it should of be the same color as her horns. The Mattel doll completely covers the neck with a black inner collar.
Her outfit is consists of a dress and a cape, that are sewn together at the left shoulder and connected with a velcro fastener at the right shoulder. It is entirely made of satin, in black or dark magenta, and is removable. The dress is form fitting slinky black satin with a magenta center panel. It has very large sleeves that have saw tooth pattern pointing down (simulating flames), and drape over the arms. They are black on the outside, and magenta inside. The collar is magenta facing forward, and black in the back. The full length cape is black on the outside and magenta on the inside, with sawtooth pattern at the bottom, simulating flames. She has black high heeled shoes, that fit very snuggly on her feet, so I removed the rubber bands that secured the shoes to her feet for shipping. The outfit looks good, but is simplified compared to the one in the movie, or the one on the Mattel Great Villains Maleficent. Also the Mattel doll's outfit has an outer layer of black velvet, which looks and feels much more luxurious than the Disney doll. The Mattel doll also has an inner dress of red satin, and a layer of purple organza in the sleeves and outer collar. However, Mattel doll's outfit is not removable, and it and the doll's construction makes her have only one natural pose - the one that she has in the box.
She has no accessories. So she is missing her magic scepter and her companion raven Diablo, that were included with the Mattel Great Villains version of Maleficent. Without them, the doll looks incomplete, especially in her trademark pose with her arms outstretched.
First look at the newly released Classic Maleficent 12'' doll. Maleficent's look (the doll and her outfit) is based on her appearance in the movie, and is much more movie accurate than the Designer Maleficent doll (September 2011), who was ''re-imagined'' as a fashion doll.
2012-2013 Disney Princess Classic Doll Collection Maleficent 12'' Doll
US Disney Store
$14.50, or 2 for $20
Released in stores December 30, 2012
Purchased in store January 3, 2013
Not yet available online
I went to my local DS on Thursday January 3, 2013 and snagged two of the brand new Classic Villain 12'' Dolls, the Evil Queen and Maleficent. They were just released in some stores this past weekend, and are not yet available online. My store did not have the new Jafar yet, but will get him very soon. I also got Mother Gothel, who is in the new ''Posable Arms and Legs'' package so presumably has the new knee and ankle joints that the 2012 Classic Princess dolls have (first introduced with Classic Merida). The new Evil Queen and Maleficent dolls also have the new leg joints. They were all part of the 2 for $20 Disney Princess Classic Doll sale, even though they are brand new releases. I will post photos of all of them boxed, during their deboxing, and fully deboxed, both alone and with other comparable dolls.
Minnie with the slipcover and plastic covers off. She is now in clear view from three sides and above. She is attached to the cardboard backing, plastic supports and the built in display stand.
Here are detailed photos of the 2018 Minnie Mouse Rock the Dots Limited Edition Signature Doll. I picked her up in person at my local Disney Store on release day, Monday January 22, 2018, which is also National Polka Dot Day in the US. She is also available online in the US and European Disney Store websites. She is the sixth Signature Minnie doll to be released by the Disney Store, but the first Signature Minnie doll that I have bought for my collection. She is #2405 of 6000.
She is 11 inches tall to the top of her head, or 12 inches to the top of her ears. She has rooted hair and eyelashes, and her ears are covered in her hair. She has a rocker style outfit, with black faux leather jacket, white shirt, red double layer tulle skirt with silver glitter dots, and a red satin underskirt. She is wearing black leggings, and faux suede boots. She had molded white plastic gloves, large red cloth bow, and red plastic rimmed sunglasses. She also has a black purse hanging from her left wrist. She comes in a designer style case, with black plastic base, clear acrylic cover, with a black and white polka dot background. She also comes with a cardboard slipcover.

The Disney Store has unveiled a new Disney Villains franchise, in May 18, 2012, with lots of merchandise. It is the evil counterpart to the Disney Princess franchisse, although not all Disney Villains are associated with official Disney Princesses. It includes the upcoming Disney Villains Designer Collection, with Limited Editon 12'' Dolls and various other merchandise.
This folder concentrates on the Classic Villains - the villains as they were originally depicted their Disney animated movies. So far they consist of these four female villains:
Evil Queen - Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs (1937)
Maleficent - Sleeping Beauty (1959)
Cruella de Vil - One Hundred and One Dalmatians (1956)
Ursula - The Little Mermaid (1989)
I got the Anna and Belle playsets in the mail from the Disney Store today. Here they are next to each other in unopened boxes. I will debox them soon. I am anxious to get the Snow White playset when it becomes available in the US.

Disney Villains Designer Collection
The Disney Store (US)
Merchandise Released Online August 20, 2012
I got this full color tri-fold brochure on the Disney Villains Designer Collection from my local Disney Store today (August 29, 2012). There was a stack of them in the well organized Disney Villains section, containing items from the Classic Villains collection, but no Designer Villain merchandise yet. It contained photos of all six Designer Villains dolls, and some of the merchandise, as well as a schedule and details on the procedure for the release of the dolls.
Evil Queen Disney Villains Designer Collection Doll
Personal Photos - Deboxed
Designer Evil Queen is fully deboxed, and back on her display stand. Here she is joined by the 1998 Mattel Great Villains Collection Evil Queen doll, also on her included display stand. The Designer doll has the advantage of a taller base to the stand, her hair being in a high updo, and a larger head, so she looks considerably taller and larger than the Mattel Evil Queen. In fact, from they are actually the same height (11.5 inches) from the soles of their shoes to the tops of their heads. I just noticed that the tasseled rope belt of the Mattel Evil Queen has been turned around 180 degrees, so the tasseled ends are behind her and thus not in view. The Designer doll has an outfit that is considerably more luxurious in look and feel. The Mattel doll has the advantage of being much more movie accurate, in both face and outfit.
Her heir (like All mulan Dolls) was originally in a side pony tail with a flower. I promptly took it down. The flower is pretty nice. It doesn't always like to stay on her arm, it's a bit big.
The Beauty and the Beast Deluxe Doll Set with the contents removed from the box, but still attached to the backing.
Here are detailed photos of the newly released Beauty and the Beast Deluxe Doll Set ($79.95), that I just got from my local Disney Store. The accessory figures look really detailed and well done. In fact, I like Chip better in this set than the one with the new Classic Belle doll. Also the bluebird looks nicer than the one with the new Classic Snow White. Belle and Beast are in their winter outfits. Belle also has her blue peasant outfit and her yellow ball gown. Beast also has his formal outfit. Philippe is way too small, but is a very cute plush. I like this set way better than the ones for Aladdin or Sleeping Beauty.
Deboxing the playset. The inner box has been removed from the outer box, after cutting some tape that was securing it to the outer box. The doll and contents are now in clear view. They are secured to to the inner box by wires, rubber bands, thread and plastic tabs. There are also various plastic and cardboard supports attached to the inner box. The inside of the inner box has a printed image of the walls of Anna's bedroom from the original Frozen movie.
I like this set very much. The Anna doll has the same face that was introduced with the OFA Elsa and Anna doll set, but her hairdo is new. Some of it is gathered into a ponytail (including her white streak), but most of it is straight down her back. She long stiff straight bangs in the front. She is wearing a nightgown, and a simplified coronation gown is included, with two hair ribbons, two hair clips and a crown. There is also a brush, a dressing screen and a chest. The chest opens up and is useful to store the little accessories after the set is deboxed. The best thing about this set is that there is a bed that is 11 1/2 inches long, the same length as the doll, so she can lay down in it without having to bend her knees, or having her feet over the end. The backing can also serve as a backdrop for the set after it is deboxed, especially if the backing is opened up. The set is available online on the ShopDisney site, but I haven't seen it in stores yet.

Deboxing Minnie. I start with taking the slipcover and plastic covers off. She is attached to the cardboard backing, plastic supports and the built in display stand. Then I cut the tape along the left and right edges of the cardboard backing, and open it up to expose the tabs and wires of the factory restraints. Then I cut the wire and the tape over the tabs, and free Minnie from the backing. The backing is laid down behind Minnie.

Aurora Sketchbook Ornament - Sleeping Beauty - Blue is an online exclusive that I received on Tuesday, Sept 2, 2014. She came in a nicely decorated box, and was inside a custom cut styrofoam block. She has a blue satin skirt, with glitter decorations, a glitter bodice and is in a ballerina type pose. There is a matching pink Aurora ornament, that is identical except for having a pink outfit, and it doesn't come in a decorated box. $12.95. Photographed boxed, during deboxing, and fully deboxed.
Gaston 12'' doll, free standing. He has what I presume is simulated stubble on his chin, but it looks more like dirt to me. LOL. His head turns with a little difficulty, because his ponytail is stuck behind his shirt. The ponytail can't go outside his shirt because of the thickness of the collar. His belt is sewn to his shirt. He has black knit tights instead of pants.
Detailed photos of the dolls in the Beauty and the Beast Deluxe Doll Set, deboxed. They include the 1/6 scale Beast, Belle and Gaston dolls, and the Philippe plush. Beast and Belle are in their winter outfits. I show Beast and Belle both with and without their capes. The bluebird figurine is included with Belle when she has her cape on. Beast is not that stable free standing, so I support him with a Kaiser stand for these photos.
I just got the Beauty and the Beast Deluxe Doll Set ($79.95) from my local Disney Store (on Thursday June 30, 2016).
Deboxing the 2016 Classic Pocahontas doll. The doll has been freed from all packaging restraints, and is lying down. Her long straight hair has been combed to make it neater.
