For Looking Close…on Friday, theme of Collage in Square Photo, I chose four of my Disney heroines.

Out of all my dolls, I chose these four as recognizable characters, known and loved around the world! 💙💚💜💖

Gangie's Photos on Flickriver

When I was a small child, I actually believed that when I went to sleep, or left the house, my toys would ‘magically’ come alive and have outrageous adventures, and tea parties with tiny teacups, sandwiches and trifles topped with 'hundreds and thousands'.

My imagination was ‘sparked’ by one particular Beatrix Potter story that I first read at the age of six.

'The Tale of Two Bad Mice':

“The tale is about two mice who vandalise a doll's house. After finding the food on the dining room table made of plaster, they smash the dishes, throw the doll clothing out the window, and carry off a number of articles to their mouse-hole. When the little girl who owns the doll's house discovers the destruction, she positions a policeman doll outside the front door to ward off any future depredation. The two mice atone for their crime spree by putting a crooked sixpence in the doll's stocking on Christmas Eve and sweeping the house every morning with a dust-pan and broom”.

After the fairly recent success of the Peter Rabbit film, I decided to read my collection of Beatrix Potter tales, there are many wise words and morals in her books:

- Be kind to others

- Just be yourself

- Tell the truth

- Be loyal to your friends and family

- Ask for help when you need it

- You should forgive, even if you won’t forget

- Hard work pays off

- Accept others' differences

- Never give up

A Magical Moment with Disney Princess Belle!

Today's shot takes us to the Magic Kingdom for a depth of field shot of some Disney character balloons with Cinderella's Castle in the background, on Main Street U.S.A. I don't know about you but I'm a huge fan of of depth of field. I love to have my foreground in focus and my background blurred while still being able to make out the object I am shooting. It creates a really nice effect and a more dramatic photograph. Are you a fan of depth of field? Have a great weekend!

and this is all i'm displaying, the rest goes to storage or donation spots...

I wish I could remember where I was standing when I took this picture, but I can't. I was all the way out on the tele-end of the 18-135mm, so I must have been close to the Main Street Train Station, but I don't believe I was on the second level of the Train Station - it just doesn't seem a high enough angle...

Of course, pictured is balloons from the balloon vendor on Main Street USA at the Magic Kingdom of Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida. ...Cinderella Castle in the background.

Saw four of the new Hasbro dolls at my TRU today. They had Pocahontas, Jasmine, Merida, and Mulan. There were two sets of these four dolls. I am not impressed. I thought I was going to pick up a Jasmine, but seeing her in person didn't make her jump into my arms. I kinda like Pocahontas's outfit, but her face was just misprinted or something. They were $9.99

This day in Disney history:

(1941) Dumbo premiered in New York City. Unlike the previous films Fantasia and Pinocchio, Dumbo was a bargain, made for a little more than $800,000 and bringing a profit of $850,000. The film won a Best Score Oscar for Frank Churchill and Oliver Wallace, and the lullaby “Baby Mine” was nominated for Best Song.

Thanks for visiting!

I can't believe it's been over a month since I've uploaded a picture! Time flies... My intention was to post one a week from the December trip, but I haven't done a very good job with that.

This shot is one that I've envisioned for quite some time, just never have been in the right place at the right time. Compositional wise I still don't feel like I totally nailed it. That and the sky could have been a little better I think.

Mostly processed in Dynamic Photo HDR. This is three handheld exposures, which is why there is some blur in the trees on the right. One of the caveats of HDR I suppose. Some slight cloning / clean-up in Paintshop.

Thanks for stopping by, and I hope you're having a great day!

These figurines are from Monopoly Disney Princesses. Not much time to prepare for the theme as both kids were unwell with fever. Again a quick search into the kids cabinet for idea and found this, shot taken within 10 mins with various arrangements.

Quick Shot as I called it.

I know what you're thinking - I've already posted this picture, right? Abby Lanes suggested she'd like to see it in HDR (tone mapped) which I've done here. Obviously it has more pop, but does it look over done to you? What do you all think? Posted in the comments below is the originally uploaded photo...

Today's photo tour sends us to the Magic Kingdom for a shot of one of the most purchased souvenirs in all of Disney, the Mickey balloon! There are so many cool shots you can get along Main Street using these balloons. My favorite probably is having the balloons in the foreground with the castle blurred in the background. What's your favorite way to photograph these balloons? Have a magical day!

I couldn't force myself to not take this picture the way the sunlight was hitting the castle as the sunset. It was a beautiful sight and I stuck around just to get some castle shots at dusk before heading over to DHS for the evening...
