20 years ago, Disney’s #Atlantis The Lost Empire was released. Here’s my updated take on the beautiful & underrated #PrincessKida from the movie 💙 #Disney #AtlantisTheLostEmpire #DisneyPrincess #Kida #KidagakashNedakh #KidaNedakh
The Disney princess.
Geez, how would we know what ideal to have for women if it weren't for Walt Disney? First, we have the waist. This waist isn't even achievable on the model circuit, and the combination of that waist and brust would lead our poor beauty to chronic back problems. The hair? Gotta be extensions. Never seen hair like that on a real person. Finally, what's with Disney's woman always talking to birds on their hands? If a bird came up to any woman (or man) I know, they probably flip out and swat it.
This figurine is not some old relic from the antique shop, it's Disney's Modern Woman. It's a laugh, because they go to all of this trouble to pretend that they're "feminist" by making movies with female leads, but that's just an appeal to 50% of the market. They still treat women like crap in their narratives.
In Disney, aren't the mothers of most of these women/girls either gone or evil?
In Disney, doesn't the heroine always get supplemented by the male hero... or have to ACT like a male in order to succeed?
I'd love to hear your thoughts what you think the "message" is behind most of these Disney tales...

The other day I noticed my Frozen dolls were being illuminated by bright sunlight coming from the window at a certain time and it gave them such a dramatic vibe so I had to capture it 😜
I still remember the day back in 2011, when I ventured into Target's toy aisles for the first time in five years. In the Disney section, I recall with great clarity that there was a similar princess pack to the one pictured above. I had my eye on Jasmine in particular. The pack was on sale, and I almost cracked and asked my dad if I could get it. I know without a doubt, that he would have gotten it for me that day. But something held me back...the fear of change. The Disney dolls I had grown up with were quite different from the ones that were stocked in stores back in 2011. I was familiar with the 90s and early 2000s dolls, who captivated my attention when I was younger. Even though I had a few newer Disney dolls in my collection at that time, I guess I was hesitant to really delve into this modern generation. Looking back, it seems really silly, because even though I vehemently denied it at the time, I found this new generation of Mattel Disney dolls intriguing and cute.
Three years later, the way I collected Disney dolls was vastly different, and so was my collection. 2014 was the year that I really learned to let loose and be more open minded to newer generations of dolls. I'm really grateful that I had this change of heart when I did, because by 2016, Mattel was no longer producing Disney dolls, since Hasbro ended up with the legal rights. That fall, I went wild on eBay in search of gems from this modern generation. I particularly wanted this pack, because it contained a Mulan doll, one of the few Mattel ever produced after the movie's initial release in 1997. Ironically, one of my first modern Disney dolls in my adult collection had been 2008 Sparkling Princess Mulan. She was one of the characters that I warmed up to right away, without any hesitation. So to celebrate my new found love of this generation, I wanted to track down this particular pack. These dolls were all in a lot, loose, on eBay with a Disney Store Naveen doll (who was a very much appreciated bonus doll). I fought to win these ladies (and Naveen) because I knew they belonged in my collection. I am so very grateful that I ended up winning the bidding war, because I just can't picture my collection without them. I still remember the day they arrived in the mail. Each girl was carefully wrapped in a tight cocoon of tissue paper. Every doll was lucky enough to still have her shoes, necklace, and crown. Even though each doll is from a different film, I think the coordinating jewelry, crown, and fabrics make these dolls look very aesthetically pleasing when put together. My sister fell in love with Belle right away, whereas I was most taken with Jasmine (not surprising as Aladdin dolls are my favorites). But, all of these beauties have won my heart, and whomever I am looking at on display is usually the one I like the best (I guess I am prone to the power of suggestion). In that sense, I really don't have a favorite from this set. I feel very lucky that I got them all together in impeccable condition. I'm especially fond of these girls, because they are from a large pack, just like my Disney Store eleven pack, which was a Christmas gift from my sister. I still hope to one day have the pack I came across at Target in 2011, but I really can't imagine loving any Disney Mattel pack as much as this one.
