Following up on the success of the inaugural Literacy Boot Camp in 2015, the New Jersey State Library, in partnership with the Plainfield Public Library, kicked off its second Literacy Boot Camp on March 27, 2018, with 16 students from all over the state in attendance.
The primary goal for NJSL Literacy Boot Camp is to provide New Jersey librarians and library staff with skills and tools necessary to develop library-based adult literacy programs to meet the needs of their communities. Course elements include community needs assessment, data use for planning, curriculum design, recruiting and training tutors, advertising and management.
