discussing current tendencies to move away from industrial-design precision towards seemingly archaic, still mediated digitally ways of production and articulation of space. saturation or detail in this case results from specific tool/machine resolution- here simulated by pushing voxel space towards it's capacity limits resulting in glitches and repetitive patterns.

research context

Lesser Yellowlegs interacting. Bartow County, GA. 4/30/2015.

Fall migration is just ramping up here in Georgia. That's right.. fall migration in July! A few days ago I was shooting shorebirds such as these in the same area, but the lighting was harsh and the results weren't so good. This is an image from spring 2015 in much better early morning light. Lighting is an essential ingredient to better photography. Shorebirds in reasonable proximity for photography in inland Georgia are not easy to come by, and sometimes it is not possible to get good lighting in otherwise good situations.

From our archive: Old queen Milly often hissed at Snow White, but the sweet princess did not have to prove herself, so she just calmly looked back at her.

Olympus E-400 Digital Camera.

Saw these two elderly ladies slowly moving to the top of the dyke (separating arable land from the Wadden Sea mud planes).

Could not hear their discussion of course, but I'm sure this was said:

Left: "That was steep, good I had my stick"

Right: "And my breath is gone..."

Left: "But this place is so special..."

Right: "Yes., all those visits over 60 years, with boyfriends initially, and husbands and kids later. The kids loved the mud, hubbies the birds"

Left: "Indeed, time has been flying, we are widows now and kids far away.."

Right: "Well said! But lets go home, this place is still beautiful, but something is missing.."

When we were discussing options for this year's autumn hiking adventure, it almost seemed like there was nothing left in northern Scandinavia that we all still wanted to explore. However, after some discussions, we realized that Finnish Lapland might be an interesting and convenient location for our regular autumn outdoor pursuits.

After conducting some research and planning, we narrowed our focus to Finland's northwest, bordering Sweden and Norway. More specifically, we honed in on the Käsivarsi Wilderness Area, which happens to be the second-largest wilderness area in Finland.

-----

Käsivarsi is somewhat atypical for Finland due to its higher elevation (Finland's highest peak, Halti (1,324m), is located in its northern tip), rugged terrain, and limited wooded areas. This combination sounded particularly attractive to us because it meant we would hike across various types of landscapes, both on and off marked trails.

Our itinerary was as follows: Kilpisjärvi/Saana mountain -> Tshahkaljärvi lake -> Siktagurajohka river -> Meekonjärvi lake including trip to Pitsusköngäs waterfall -> Porojärvi lake including ascent of Saivaara cliff -> Guhturgurajávri/Termisjärvi lakes -> Ailakkajärvi lake -> Kilpisjärvi.

...discussing kites: you hold him tight - I've got him safe ;-)

Noctilux 50mm f0.95, Sony A9, Tech Art Pro LM-EA7. Probably the only combination to get a picture like that. You have to set f stop to 25 to shoot with this combination but the actual f stop on Nocti was of course 0.95. Rather difficult to shoot with this set up, but the dreamy, creamy pictures that come out make it all worth it.

These impala rams seem to be discussing our upcoming trip.

A-Z Challenge: Z - Ziegfeld Girls

Ziegfeld Girls were beautiful chorus girls starring on Broadway in the theatrical productions known as the Ziegfeld Follies (1907-1931). These showgirls were the epitome of elegance and glamour as they sang and danced, all while adorned in elaborate costumes. For this theme, you may depict your doll(s) as either a vintage or modern day showgirl: Perhaps she is one of the famed Las Vegas showgirls of the 1950s or is a star at Paris' Folies Bergere. You can show her performing in a chorus line, getting dressed backstage, or simply posing for a photoshoot. Think feathers, sequins, flirty skirts or elaborate headpieces!

Abused Abandoned Jungle Dogs.

@ The Spirit House -

Mama going over the rules with Mickey.

Mama,

"OK Pip Squeak listen up cuz I'll only say this once !"

"I'm The Queen of The Jungle, and your Not !"

"Rocky eats first, cuz I say he does, I'm The Queen !"

"I eat second, cuz I say so, I'm The Queen, & your Not !"

"The Zoomer eats third, cuz I say so, I'm The Queen your Not !"

"The guy with the camera, he can eat our kibble

anytime he wants, cuz I say so, I'm still The Queen !"

So here's the story -

Light had come over the horizon as I arrived at

The Dog Palace. Rocky crashed into my leg

followed by Mama even before the kick-

stand was in place. Big stories and

quick toe licking happened.

Unbridled Enthusiasm !

Big Fun ......;-)~~~

Once we crossed The Concrete Walking Bridge

and headed for the nuns I see Baby Mickey

racing towards us. Problem being a lot of

primates were right in his way.....;-0~

Rocky, Mama & The Zoomer started right in

chasing the monkeys up into the trees.

Baby Boy Mickey tried to help ...;-)~

Checked in with the nuns, did a hand-off

of some special stuff they like then

Mickey put on his big boy pants

and we all took off for, ------

The Spirit House.

Baby Mickey had huge big fun trying to

keep up with The Big Dogs. His short

little legs were a blur, quite comical.

Now about the photo -----

When Mama had finished with her speech

she leans over and sticks her cone right

into Rocky's ear as if to say I'm the Boss.

Rocky's big jaws kept right on chomping

never missing a beat, only slightly amused.

Baby Puppy looks up at me then at Rocky,

then at Mama not quite sure what to do.

By now my left hand is in the feed bag and

my fingers are underneath Rocky's lips

rubbing his teeth as he eats kibble.

Mama & Rocky have both had to

put up with me doing this ever

sense they were puppies.

Never Bite The Hand That Feeds You, Right ?

A palm size portion of kibble is scooped up

and placed in front of The Queens Cone.

5 pieces are laid in front of the puppy.

Rocky never stops chomping .......;-)

We are surrounded by 3 or 4 hundred apes !

Running past below us is 8-9 hundred apes !
