I'm not surprised that it is so popular, so fresh, green, with the jolly berries AND plentiful in the garden, this time of year, and also, so very decorative. But ooohhh so prickly too!

I am trying to use as little light and dof as possible, a challenge that I love.

I find it necessary and refreshing to regularly go back to the basics of photography.

As a discipline, I used to go out with my Nikon F4, a 50mm lens, b&w or colour film.

Now of course it is much more with the 'ease' of digital, however, I do NOT take hundreds of photos, the discipline is: I use my camera as a 'film' camera, each push of the button COSTS!

So, I compose carefully, wait, look, ... if I AM SURE, pleased... then, I click!

Or like here, I'll preconceive a scenario, go in the studio, set it up and photograph it only when I am happy that I have the result in front of my eyes that I had in my head.

I wish you a day full of peace and goodness, thank you, M, (*_*)

The Metropolitan museum in New York is a treasure trove of amazing things from around the world. I think it would take half a lifetime to really examine every object. You have to be disciplined and choose the areas that are the most important to you. For me it was seeing paintings by Vermeer and Duccio . The objects in the museum go from tiny objects from the middle ages to some large exhibits . The The Temple of Dendur must be the largest piece and I could not visit the Met without a look at this amazing Egyptian temple

The Temple of Dendur is a Roman Egyptian religious structure originally located in Tuzis Nubia about 50 miles south of modern Aswan. Around 23 BCE, Emperor Augustus commissioned the temple dedicated to the Egyptian goddess Isis and deified brothers Pedesi and Pihor from Nubia.

In 1963, as part of the International Campaign to Save the Monuments of Nubia, UNESCO helped rescue and relocate the temple from flooding caused by the Aswan High Dam. Egypt gave the temple to the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City, which has exhibited it since 1978.

With faith, discipline and selfless devotion to duty, there is nothing worthwhile that you cannot achieve - Quaid-i- Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah

Quaid-e-Azam Residency (Urdu: قائد اعظم ریزڈنسی‎—Qāʾid-e Aʿẓam Rẹziḋinsī), also known as Ziarat Residency, is located in Ziarat, Balochistan, Pakistan. It is where Quaid-e-Azam, Muhammad Ali Jinnah spent the last two months and ten days of his life. It is the most famous landmark of the city, constructed in 1892 during the British Raj. The building is a wooden structure, originally designed as a sanatorium before being converted into the summer residence of the agent of the Governor General. It is declared a national monument and heritage site and is of great architectural importance.

On 15 June 2013, the Residency was targeted with rockets by terrorists and badly damaged.

However, it has been reconstructed and opened to public since 14 August 2014.

Jinnah is one of my ideals and is a symbol of dedication in the history of Indo-Pak subcontinent, today is his birthday.

• Securing Europe’s subsea infrastructure is more critical than ever as undersea cables form the backbone of global connectivity, carrying 99% of international data. These cables are vital for communication, commerce, and national security. Growing geopolitical tensions, cyber threats, and risks of sabotage make them vulnerable targets, potentially disrupting economies and critical services. As Europe’s dependence on digital infrastructure increases, ensuring the resilience and security of these cables is essential to safeguard data integrity, prevent economic losses, and maintain global stability in an interconnected world. Robust protection strategies are now imperative.

Have a good weekend

SELF DISCIPLINE BEGINS WITH THE MASTERY OF YOUR THOUGHTS. IF YOU DON'T CONTROL WHAT YOU THINK, YOU CAN'T CONTROL WHAT YOU DO.

A donchee (also spelled doun chee) is a Cambodian laywoman devoted to Buddhist practice. She typically wears white clothing, often shaves her head, and lives in or near a pagoda. While not a fully ordained nun, she follows many of the same disciplines—spending her days in prayer, meditation, and supporting temple life through cooking, cleaning, and caring for the community.

It must be said, there's a correlation here between the increased investment of time in photography, and an increased awareness of the beauty that exists everywhere!

A colleague and I, at work, were sharing our experiences, and he said that since taking up photography, that he has become more 'mindful'. For one, he said, he has learned to look up!

I agree with him. Photography, as does any discipline in art: forces, not only introspection, but an acute awareness for the external here-and-now...

Would you agree? What have your experiences been, since taking up photography?
