A curtain of dirt flows from the bucket over a newly placed culvert along my camp road. A hot dry stretch of days allowed for plenty of dirt work improvements and seat time in my elderly skid steer. It may seem like an odd way to enjoy some time off but when you spend 40 hours per week sitting at a desk this is a very fun alternative.

Mounted at the end of an excavator boom, the plate compactor attachment provides more powerful compaction force than a hand-operated compactor.

I spent my birthday working in the woods. Last year was too wet to do much in the way of road improvements so I spent some time fixing a few things this trip. This low spot had an undersized pipe that I upgraded to a larger and longer culvert. May 27, 2018.

My mother's lawn in Bradenton is growing in very sandy soil. There were many patches of bare sand in the lawn, so I ordered a "Sandy Soil" mix of grass seed from Dirtworks. I planted seed in the bare spots by hand a week ago and this is some of the new growth. Pretty impressive how fast it's growing. I don't have any experience with planting grass so I don't know what's normal, but it seems really amazing to me.

This is what was in the seed mix:

* 35% Navigator Creeping Red Fescue

* 30% Fiesta III Perennial Ryegrass

* 20% Blade runner Tall Fescue

* 10% Annual Ryegrass

* 5% White clover
