We were tasked with taking photos inspired by the lyrics of Bob Dylan's, "Like a Rolling Stone" on our Thursday Morning Photography Group outing in the city. These were 9 photos that I took, with no offense intended to any of the people in them as to how well they did, or didn't, fit the lyrics. It wasn't easy to find suitable subjects!
A shit backdrop and a single cheap flash.
Ive had this shot in my head for a while so its nice to see it completed.
Taking a leisurely stroll around Nottingham my eyes were drawn to a young lady with orange hair coming in my direction on the opposite side of the street. I crossed the road quickly and intercepted her path and introduced the 100 Strangers to her.
Charlotte found the idea behind the project interesting and was very happy to become part of it. I photographed Charlotte where we were, thinking the colour of the row of bricks behind her would compliment her hair colour well. The overcast day meant I didn’t have to worry about light direction so photographing Charlotte was a pleasant and easy task.
Charlotte told me she was from Nottingham and was studying fine-art at university. I asked if she had a specialist area in this and she said making thought provoking films, her latest one being on the intriguing theme of skin-touch.
Charlotte said her dream job would be as an art teacher.
I asked Charlotte what she enjoyed doing outside of studying and she said she was a very keen dancer, saying ballet was her choice in this and then told me she had started ballet dancing when she was two years old.
When I asked who Charlotte’s first star crush had been on she laughed and then said Orlando Bloom in his role of Legolas in the Lord of the Rings films. She then said she was very disappointed and upset when her mum bought her a poster of him and she found out that Orlando didn’t really look like Legolas! This comment finished our chat in another bout of laughter.
Thank-you Charlotte for agreeing to be photographed for this project, it was great meeting you and I hope you like your portrait.
