at the top of the dale there's evidence of old buildings/mills and a couple of walled in areas with water flowing through - I assume that it is to do with washing sheep - hence the public art embedded in the wall. Wish I'd had flash to put a bit of side light in to pick out the words better - I'm intrigued by 'Merky' and if it's meaning is the same as murky
Two super cute swimsuits have hit the grid by Blueberry and I am loving both styles! I found myself really loving the color that Sorchiee is wearing; a sort of dark teal which looks magical in the linden waters. I love strings and things that hang so it is no surprise I am wearing the string bikini. I love the back of this suit! The creative .....

Willow Creek is a little beach off of Folsom Lake. I found the access point by surprise. There is a little island reserve accessible by kayak.

Before the 3162 got the stunningly fresh Belle dip I captured the old SCL SD45 doing the posted ten mph as they crept back south through Wiggins, Ms, on a sunny summer afternoon. This would be the last day of grey KCS consists as the next day belle 3205 was added back to the consist and the belle era has steadily been overtaking the roster since... Soon I'll be back over shooting my first ever all Belle consist on the Gulfport Sub. While the grey era is now over thankfully the SD40s are still going strong every weekday on the Gulfport Sub.

Over the River Ogmore, near Merthyr Mawr. The bridge is very narrow and many a wing mirror has been scraped. Called the Dipping Bridge because framers would push sheep through the holes in the bridge to give them a wash.
Beds of sedimentary rock dip steeply into the Bighorn Basin along the western margin of the Bighorn mountains near Cottonwood Canyon east of Lovell, Wyoming.
A bowl full of integrated circuit chips and a DIP switch.
For the curious and/or pedantic, the chips are mostly 7400-series transistor-transisror-logic (TTL) circuits.
DIP stands for Dual Inline Package so technically everything here is in a DIP package but in common usage the groups of switches in this form factor are referred to as DIP-switches.

A man enjoys an underwater dip in the Ganges River in Varanasi. Varanasi is a city in the northern Indian state of Uttar Pradesh dating to the 11th century B.C. Regarded as the spiritual capital of India, the city draws Hindu pilgrims who bathe in the Ganges River’s sacred waters and perform funeral rites.

This Eastern Bluebird juvenile is a real fan of the birdbath on these hot days. He spends a lot of time perched on the limb above and takes several dips everyday.
A dual in-line package (DIP) switch. Dual in-line packaging is a standard style for many electronic devices and DIP switches are often used to set various options on the device. Standard spacing between pins is 0.1" or 2.54mm.
Slightly less than 1.5:1 reproduction ratio.
Strobist info: the switch is lying on its back (side away from the numbers) on the diffuser on an EX 430 III at 1/64 power. A second bare EX 430 III at 1/128 power is touching the side of the lens and aimed almost directly toward the nearest pin-side corner to light the front and create slight shadows. The front of the second flash about 1.5" from the switch and about 1.5" in front of the lens.
These little birds are FAST!!! I have been trying to get a decent shot of them skimming the water for the past few days... this is the closest I have come... Not even sure what kind of birds they are - Maybe Barn Swallows (thanks Steve!)...
Not the best quality photo in the world.. but here it is!!! Better large - 'Dipping' On Black
I ventured on abit of LE photography late last year. Fell in love with it too. Wish to do more of it soon. I miss those days. Dreading the start to the normal 5 day work week.
