I love green.. well most bright colors actually. That's why I had to get these yellow chairs from a flea market. Then I found the table cloth to match the green on the walls, my couch and chair.. Then the candles to set the mood :) The soldier and the Danish design Holmegaard vase was on the table before I brought the candles in.

Keeping this project on budget and to our tastes was tough - but the latest addition of chairs keeps us right on target. We prowled some garage sales and kept up with sale listings, and were not able to find anything that hit the mark so we opted for the next best thing - a trip to IKEA. After lots of testing and measuring we decided to go with 4 Ivars and 2 Hermans (possibly more to come for general extra seeting at the apartment) and we are very happy with them. Note to anyone shopping for individual or sets of chairs, of the used and unique nature - most people prefer to sell as a package - in fact - it's really hard to just find a nice pair of chairs that isn't right out of the Married with Children's stage dinette set.

I bought this antique (victorian?) farm table at a thrift store for $85. I had been on the lookout for a table like this forever, but it was important that it was in the right proportions. New repro farm tables are often very very wide. I wanted something narrow, solid with lots of grain.
It's been in the garage for a year. I've been saving it for our new place. But now it's time to get it ready!
It has tons of tiny scars and scratches, but since it's solid 2" thick wood, I'm taking several millimeters of finish and wood off to make it smooth again. I don't mind a few small nicks here and there to add character, but this table has been through many years of abuse and needs a heavier sanding than most pieces I've worked on.
This table will be the star of the new place, accompanied by original press vintage eames shell chairs (a matching set of 6!) that I recently acquired.
So... who wants to come for dinner? :)

This table and chairs were bought from pottery barn several years ago.
The table is a pair of metal trestles and a plank top. The plank rests atop the trestles making for very easy storage.
