GONE--Incredible presence; incredible piece. A-frames are somewhat reminiscent of the Eiffel tower. Rugged, industrial-vintage style frames support a beautiful wood top.

New table: simple tongue and groove boards, painted baby blue. Ikea legs with castors added. A good useful size..and it can be moved around or painted any colour we like!

Here is my yummy dinner that my husband had made, It has spinach, cabbage bacon, and a nice creamy sauce with salt and pepper.
Woodland Park, CO - This home was snuggled in a valley between forest covered hills with a clear view of Pikes Peak. This is the kind of backyard I could spend the afternoon watching the sun go by.
Yes, that really is what color my kitchen walls are. I like to call it neon tennis ball...and I love it.
We got a new table/chairs set for Christmas so I thought I'd post it! They're from Ikea. The table runner is from Kohl's. The print on the wall is from allposters.com.
We still need something over in that far corner but I don't know what yet. In the corner to the left of the print that you can't see is a tall black bookcase.
We just put the hardwoods in a few months ago. We got them SUPER cheap from lumber liquidators. It used to be dingy carpet, but these floors are so bright and clean.

This was a bathroom tumbler I found at Kmart.
I cut the glass top from a picture frame.
Now just need to faux finish some chairs.
The wood grain on this tabletop is gorgeous and arresting--you wont need silk runners or fancy chargers to catch your guests' eyes.
For very long established reasons involving my Mum's shift work as a nurse back in the seventies (yikes!) we have our Christmas Dinner on Boxing Day. It's nice, as it makes it into an evening meal that can be enjoyed in a civilised and leisurely fashion, and you can invite friends who aren't closely tied into their family arrangements.
Somehow we managed to stretch the guest list to 14 this year which really is the limit that the table can accommodate with the people around it still remaining friends. And it was lovely.
Ham, duck, poussin and no bloody turkey in sight. :D

ok, so my knee. here's the story. three weeks ago, while sliding into my seat on the morning train, my knee decided it'd rather go back home. and in turning back for the door (without my knowledge, let alone permission), it tore my meniscus. so a week from thursday, i'm going under the knife to have it fixed. granted, it's a teeny tiny knife, and they'll send me and my cane packing the same day, but still. it's the "s" word. and it's happening in a building that starts with an "h."
it sucks, no doubt about it.
but what's even suckier is that i was supposed to go camping that weekend, so's i could finally meet grace*c* and ~btezra~ and some other fabulous flickrpeeps. mutinous fucking knee!
but then i saw this little lemon hiding in the corner of my email inbox. i'm on the mailing list for the paramount theater in peekskill, this fabulously renovated old movie house just twenty minutes away. and i saw that patty griffin, one of my favorite singer/songwriters, was gonna be in town the day after the surgery. so i've convinced myself, hell, if doctorman says i can put weight on my leg the day of the surgery, i sure as shit can hobble with florian, patrick and my motherfuckin' cane to go see this woman stand on a stage and sing her fucking heart out.
yay me. well, poor me. but yay me, too.
GONE - This newly-made vintage industrial style piece is a real tour-de-force. Beautiful handwork on the metal "A" pieces that form the iron trestles combine with the lightly stained shisham wood (that grows in India) to create a rugged and elegant table. Seats eight, easily, ten squeezily.
Length 192cm, depth 92cm, height 77cm.
A custom built table made of reclaimed wood from the old town of Shanghai. The black & white table surface is reclaimed wood flooring, rearranged in a nice pattern. The legs are made of steel.

Acho que, de todos nossos gatos, Mikita é a menos fotografada. Talvez por ser mais velha e reservada do que os filhotes; ou talvez por ter as pernas tão curtas que ela não consegue alcançar muitos dos lugares em que seus filhotes se metem, ela raramente atrai a atenção da câmera. Hoje foi uma exceção - ela resolveu subir na mesa de jantar e usar nosso prato de sushi como uma cama.

It's been a while since I posted a photo of the cats to Flickr® from Yahoo!®.
Mikita is probably the least photographed of our cats. Maybe it's because she, along with Pim, is older and more reserved than the others, or perhaps it's because of her short legs which means that she's unable to reach some of the places the other cats get into, but her antics rarely attract the attention of my camera. Today, however, was a bit of an exception - she decided to climb onto the dining table and make what looks like a very comfortable bed out of our sushi plate.
