The Aiggin Stone on Blackstone Edge near Rochdale. This is thought to be a medieval waymarker, sited on an old packhorse route, overlaying a Roman road crossing the Pennines. A rude latin cross is incised on the stone, with the letters I.T. The stone once stood several feet tall but has been diminished by falling and being pushed over.

Virtually every single day, Blanca and I walk on one beach or another, sometimes twice a day. That fact doesn't diminish in the slightest the excitement I feel when exploring a new trail to a new beach. The cliff-hugging coastal woods with their evergreen trees are incredibly dark and spooky, and so it's all the more thrilling when you approach the edge where the light starts streaming in from the open sea and you hear the waves crashing!

is the only genuine kind. Vanity and arrogance only diminish the beauty we see on the outside. I think that's what I love so much about horses. They are so incredibly beautiful but they lack vanity and arrogance. They just are what they are without even trying.

On my way to Wedge Pond the sky was cloudy giving me hope for a colored sunrise. A half hour from my destination it started to pour with rain and my hopes began to diminish. However, since it was best to press on, the hope was that the weather would improve.

When I arrived the rain had begun to subside. A young lady was parked beside me arriving moments before I did. We both got out of our vehicles and struck up a conversation. She was there to climb one of the many mountains while I was there to photograph them. A very brave young lady indeed. We soon went on our respective ways and I set up for what should arrive first. The light in the eastern sky. It did, but only for about 20 seconds and I thought, glad to have pressed on and nice to have met another seeking adventure.

I heard on the radio a few days ago that dark eyed juncos are one of the types of birds that is diminishing in population. Fortunately, I'm not seeing that in the Portland area, as they're still one of the most prevalent around here..

Our little island in our 'front yard' featured once again.

'No Man is an Island'

No man is an island entire of itself; every man

is a piece of the continent, a part of the main;

if a clod be washed away by the sea, Europe

is the less, as well as if a promontory were, as

well as any manner of thy friends or of thine

own were; any man's death diminishes me,

because I am involved in mankind.

And therefore never send to know for whom

the bell tolls; it tolls for thee. (John Donne)

Caught this scene on the way to work, the sky went from just pink tinged clouds to this and then just as quickly washed out. I took some more photos at a more picturesque location but the sky show is greatly diminished by then, posted below.

“Everyone strives after the law,” says the man, “so how is that in these many years no one except me has requested entry?” The gatekeeper sees that the man is already dying and, in order to reach his diminishing sense of hearing, he shouts at him, “Here no one else can gain entry, since this entrance was assigned only to you. I’m going now to close it.”

The feeling of being hooked can be devastating or absolutely marvelous

I'm hooked on so many things

Luckily my things are of the good stuff

At least, finally

Like life

I'm hooked on life, I'm pretty high sometimes, I'm so EvaThrilled from time to time that I feel I'm having a out of a body experience

I think life is getting better and better

And how can I not feel that

Love is out there

Friendship is out there

Mother Nature is out there

It's so important to sort out the things you don't want in your life

Swooooosch away with it

Either it's people or things

If they are not good for you, you really shouldn't deal with them, using your valuable time

We don't know how long time we will have left here on earth

My time is used on the things I value the most

And of course I have a boring job from time to time, and there are some boring stuff I need to do, but it shouldn't be a burden, if I had felt my job as a burden I would at least have skipped it or diminished the burden somehow.

My everyday life is so important, I'm a Carpe Diem'er for sure

I love life

Castle Hill Lighthouse is situated on the Narragansett Bay in Newport, Rhode Island. This majestic sentinel is still an active navigational aid for ships using passage between Conanicut Island and Aquidneck Island.

I’ve visited this location many times hoping to get just the right shot. This time I had great cloud cover but I still think it needs to be framed differently to show its real appeal.

I’m still working on color correction with the Lee Big Stopper. The Little Stopper might be a better choice in future because it will allow you to make more exposures when the light diminishes and apparently the color cast is less noticeable.

Rest assured, I’ll revisit this location again very soon, hopefully with a less amateur image produced.

A male Montagu's harrier on a stone perch.

Montagu’s Harrier is named after the naturalist George Montagu, who is also known for writing the Ornithological Dictionary in 1802. Measuring between 43 and 47 cm, the adult male of the species is a stunning dark grey with black edges on its wings. It also sports rufous (reddish-brown) streaking on its belly, which is one of the ways by which it can be differentiated from the pallid harrier.

They feed primarily on grasshoppers, locusts and other insects, as well as reptiles, rodents, and other small mammals. Following the migratory path of locusts and grasshoppers, Montagu’s harriers were once one of the most common harriers to winter on the Indian subcontinent. This is less and less so as their favourite grassland habitats diminish.

The weather is cool and Wintry. A perfect setting for the return of the Sandhill Cranes. We took a drive to Northern California and hoped that the Cranes would be close enough to the highway so that we would be able to get some good shots. The greater sandhill crane population has diminished in California to a point where they were listed as a threatened species in 1983. The numbers are now rising thanks to this wonderful Reserve.

FEC train 109 crosses the St. Lucie River a tad late after working Ft. Pierce for an hour. The shot from the US-1 bridge has long been on my bucket list even though it's been shot to death in recent years. It's been over a decade since I've railfanned the FEC and even thou most trains are now led by brightly colored Champion painted units, I found the traffic to have diminished dramatically. Its a night time railroad now unfortunately.

Vischering Castle was built by Bischop Gerhard von der Mark to counter the second castle built by the Von Lüdinghausen family. It became the seat of the Droste zu Vischering Family. Droste is the local title for the hereditary noble administrators serving the Bishops of Münster. The moat is constantly replenished by a side-arm of the River Stever. The outer defensive courtyard contains the business and farm buildings. The main building is a horseshoe-shaped three-story structure with heavy outer wall. Its inner courtyard is closed off by the chapel and a lower defense wall. A castle keep is missing, having been removed during Renaissance renovations. Fire destroyed the castle in 1521. Rebuilding took place on the existing foundation. Windows and the addition of a large bay made the castle more liveable but diminished its defensive character. The whole site however retains the character of a feudal age moated castle.

My family used to have a little weekend cabin here in Sedona when I was very young. Sedona back then was a weekend get-a-way for people to escape the heat of Phoenix. There wasn't much to the town. It's hard to believe what a tourist mecca this place would become, but despite that it's beauty is not diminished. Visiting always brings back great childhood memories.

Thank you for your kind visit. Have a wonderful and beautiful day! xo💜💜

This picture, I took from the beginning of the Bridge of the Salve. This bridge built in the 70s, was the first with a strap system. Next door you can see a blue building, which is part of the museum, in the background you can also see the red arch, built by Daniel Buren, for the tenth anniversary of the Guggenheim Museum and next door we have the tower of the same museum, which was built to integrate with the same bridge and not take away prominence.

As I open the digital canvas on my screen, I can't help but feel a surge of excitement as I embark on the journey of recreating one of my cherished photos from the Charleston, Oregon fishermen marina. With the click of a button, I select my virtual watercolor brush, ready to bring this scene to life with vibrant autumn colors and shimmering water reflections.

I start by carefully selecting the perfect palette of warm hues. Rich shades of burnt sienna, deep ochre, and fiery red sit harmoniously alongside hints of golden yellows and earthy browns. With each stroke, I aim to capture the essence of the autumnal charm that fills the air.

Using broad, sweeping motions, I recreate the expansive sky. The fading sun casts its golden rays upon the clouds, which are painted with soft touches of rose pink and apricot. As the light gradually diminishes, the sky takes on a mesmerizing blend of purples and blues, creating a tranquil backdrop for the rest of the scene.

Next, I focus on the marina itself, paying close attention to the intricate details of the boats and their reflections in the water. With precision and patience, I depict the weathered wooden vessels, their forms gracefully outlined against the backdrop of the marina. The autumnal colors transform the scene, as each boat becomes a palette of warm hues, adorned with rustic accents.

To recreate the water's reflection, I delicately add gentle, fluid strokes of paint. The ripples on the water's surface become a captivating dance of colors, mirroring the marina and sky above. Shades of blues and purples intermingle with golden highlights, creating a sense of depth and movement within the painting.

As I step back and observe the digitally painted masterpiece taking shape before my eyes, I can't help but feel a sense of accomplishment. The beauty of the Charleston, Oregon fishermen marina, with its autumn colors and serene water reflections, is now preserved on the digital canvas, ready to be admired and cherished for years to come.

A female oriental magpie robin in the evening light.

The crackling of fire continued to deteriorate the wood. As time passes, both continue to loose each others form. Fire diminishing along with the wood that turns to soot until there is nothing left but smoke. But the journey of both brought warmth to a now cold home. Without their partnership, the beauty of feeling heat on a cold winter night or a rainy day would have never been experienced.

Their differences are surely vast that it could be difficult to coexist sometimes. Fire needs to spread, burn and devour all in its path, quite self aware, fierce and yet it knows how to survive in that manner. It also knows when to stop and remain but a small flicker. Earth is always warm, calculating, observant and just still. Nurturing and silent, slow and steady. Allowing life to exist, emitting empathy and giving birth to new opportunities. The possibilities of its care are endless.

Fire and Earth may not be an ideal combination due to the ultimate power both can produce if they worked together. They can make a whole nation collapse if unleashed. It was then that the two realized they could create even more wonders together. Gold coming from the earth could easily be melted with fire and turned into something precious. Without earth's elements, fire cannot exist and similarly without fire's involvement, earth's form cannot change.

The gold flame is a promise that both precious hearts will always belong to each other. Despite the obstacles of their union, the distance between their outstretched hearts and the burning strength in their souls to always be there for each other.

The Invalides contains the tomb of Napoleon and was built for Louis XIV in 1671. This golden dome can be seen for miles around Paris.

A picture is just a picture. Some may feel happy and some may feel sad. This one feels sad to me. Diminishing sun in the distance a day comes to an end.

Happy Wednesday

It's amazing how it all unfolds

When you have done lots of inner work

My #blahblahscape is full of my inner feelings and thoughts

And, yes - I have shared with you

Many of these thoughts comes from observing others around me and from my own mess

I know I am not alone on this journey

Some of you are there too

And maybe, just maybe it can help one of you to read my journey

We need to tidy up our lives

When you are having bad feelings like jealousy, envy, guilt, hate and all what arouses imbalance within you - you must know that there is something you must deal with

It will then eventually go away, diminish, being lightened up, being put back to the place or person where it originally belonged

Because it is probably not yours to keep

Isn't that quite a thought

It is not yours to keep

We use time, We misuse time, We delay, We postpone, We are human beings

As easy as that

And as difficult as that

I love lighthouses

They are there for guidance and help on your way

I have my own lighthouse, it's there for support and love

It contains love from special loved ones, but the most important is the love I have for myself

Giving me a safe shelter when I have needed it

Comfort and rest

You can have it all

"Just" need to open up for it

It all comes down to being able to love yourself

Feeling worthy of love

Your own love to yourself

Respecting yourself

We all are from Love, of course we all are worthy love, breathe that in so you can rest in that, you too

Love is the greatest there is, without it we will perish

My lighthouse now even contains an actual house, therefore this image of this lighthouse in Oslofjorden

Being on my own under my own roof will be amazing, now I know this will happen

Geez I love my roller coaster life!!

The Four Candles burned slowly. Their Ambience was so soft you could hear them speak...

The First Candle said, "I Am Peace, but these days, nobody wants to keep me lit."

Then Peace's flame slowly diminishes and goes out completely.

The Second Candle said, "I Am Faith, but these days, I am no longer indispensable."

Then Faith's flame slowly diminishes and goes out completely.

Sadly The Third Candle Speaks, "I Am Love and I haven't the strength to stay lit any longer. People put me aside and don't understand my importance. They even forget to love those who are nearest to them." Waiting no longer, Love goes out completely.

Suddenly...A child enters the room and sees the three candles no longer burning. The child begins to cry, "Why are you not burning? You are supposed to stay lit until the end!"

Then The Fourth Candle speaks gently to the little child, "Don't be afraid, for I Am Hope, and while I still burn, we can re-light the other candles."

With Shining Eyes the child took the Candle Of Hope and lit the other three candles.

Never let the Flame Of Hope go out of your life. With Hope, no matter how bad things look and are...Peace, Faith and Love can Shine Brightly in our lives.

I finally made it into one of my favorite canyons yesterday after a year of staying away from the crowds. Though there was no ice, winter light on canyon walls reflected ribbons of wet along the edge of pools soon to be evaporated by spring temps and diminishing precipitation.

Last Saturday, I set off for one of my last Bonzai trips of the year with the goal of shooting some new snow in Yosemite. The forecast had been all over the place that week with a snow level ranging from 4000 to 5000 feet, but the timing and amount seemed very uncertain.

When I arrived at 3:30 PM, the rain was steadily coming down and El Capitan was nowhere to be seen. By 4:30, it was beginning to snow up at the tunnel, but it was clear that there would be no sunset that night and that the chance of snow was diminishing as the storm was due to break up over night. I was suddenly staring at a very long and very dark night in the park and I found myself wondering what else I could do to break up a dark and monotonous night.

Suddenly, in a moment of inspiration...or craziness...it hit me. I pulled out the iPhone and looked at Fandango and there it was: An 11:20 PM showing of "The Force Awakens" in glorious Imax 3-d in Fresno! So off I went. The good news was the experience was absolutely amazing and I certainly cut down the time I would have been sleeping in my car waiting for the sunrise. The bad news was that the movie let out at 2 AM and between the fog and ice, I didn't make it back to El Portal until 4 AM. After a quick nap, I was off back to the tunnel, and finally to the valley view for this shot before heading back home. The drive home was a bit dodgy after only 90 minutes of sleep, but I felt grateful for the clouds at sunrise after waking up to nothing but stars overhead.

Here's hoping for more snow in the valley after Christmas and for the new year!

My local burrowing owl opportunities have diminished over the last decade to almost nothing, but they still give me the same sense of joy as when I first started watching them. Here's dad with 2 of the several siblings. You might note the mousy carcass on top of the burrow. Just doing their job.
