In this digital watercolor rendition derived from one of my photographs, the essence of Bruges, Belgium, comes to life along a tranquil canal. The scene masterfully captures the captivating beauty of the city's historic architecture, with a deliberate emphasis on the charming buildings that grace the canal's edge.
Soft, pastel hues delicately wash over the canvas, replicating the gentle play of sunlight on the aged facades. The architectural gems lining the canal are rendered with intricate detail, their centuries-old stories told through the meticulous strokes of the digital brush. The buildings showcase a harmonious blend of Gothic and Renaissance styles, with the warm tones of the brick facades complemented by the subtle interplay of shadows and highlights.
The reflection of these architectural wonders is hinted at in the calm waters of the canal, but the focus remains steadfast on the majestic structures rising proudly above the waterline. Each building boasts unique features—pointed arches, ornate stonework, and stepped gables—all contributing to the city's timeless allure. The digital watercolor technique adds a touch of ethereal beauty, creating a dreamlike quality that transports viewers to a place where history and art seamlessly converge.
The composition carefully balances the elements, drawing the viewer's eye to the intricate details of the buildings while maintaining the tranquility of the canal setting. As a result, the scene becomes a digital masterpiece that not only preserves the architectural splendor of Bruges but also infuses it with a sense of artistic interpretation and contemplative beauty.

"I remember where I came from;
There were burning buildings
And a fiery red sea
I remember all my lovers
I remember how they held me
East, East. The edge of the world
West, West. Those who came before me
We're in record"

Fine art photography refers to photographs that are created to fulfill the creative vision of the artist's fruits of labor.
Fine Art Photography stands in contrast to photojournalism and commercial photography.
Photojournalism provides visual support for stories, mainly in the print media.
Commercial photography's main focus is to sell a product or service.
So Is Art Photography?
Quote in 2001 by Robert Balcomb:
" ..this practice of involving the photographer in every aspect of achieving a picture goes a long way to place photography in the halls of Art, but it has one more demand. Mortensen, a most competent artist, fulfilled that demand. Long before going into photography he studied in New York with the artists Bridgeman, Henri, and Bellows, painting mostly cityscapes, spent a year in Greece painting. The point is that he was a proven artist, carrying that talent into his work with photography."

Longish exposure of water drops on a laser disc from the 1980s called "The 3 Worlds of Gulliver" See if you can untwist the plot from this image :o . Water drops were sprayed on the surface with an atomizer bottle and then I shone a flashlight at an angle to give me the rainbow and pressed the shutter. The lens was a manual macro Oshiro lens, and I believe the aperture was f/22

I have added digital painting to the title as people seem to think this series is photographic...I guess they are not really looking!
It was 2 pictures ,one I shot (balloons ) with nikon 7100 ,but that time a sky was just to grey , than yesterday I shot a nice sky with nikon d 7200 ( 50mm) ,and transferred the balloons over !
There was a time when one was supposed to see the face of Goddess reflected on water ( water was placed in an earthen pot in front of the idol) - idea was not to show the audacity to look directly at her eyes.
We are keeping that tradition alive in some modified manner - we are looking at her through our digital eye on our LCD panel . The first thing people are doing is to take out their Mobile Phone or Digi Cam and shoot - then they are folding their hands in Namaskar......
