OneAvatar was shown at the third edition of the Milano in Digitale event. An installation featuring a 3D game in which players could shoot the OneAvatar character, causing electric shocks to hit the body of the player wearing the OneAvatar suit, creating a phisical connection between our physical bodies and our identities in the digital worlds.

The installation features the results of the research coming from the OneAvatar project: technology, emotion, identity, relational dimensions in the digital domains are some of the fundamental topics analyzed.

For the event a complete marketing and communication strategy was produced to create a fictional, but realistic and produceable, product to create the narrative level of the performance: the performer was displayed as in a shopping center showcase, with the product and the related gadgets available for sale. A further analysis on the evolution of art in the contemporary era, in its hybridization wth communication, marketing and ethnographical practices.

"The Ways Things May Go" is a meditation on invented causality in a networked world. Taking the first cue from Fischli / Weiss' "Der Lauf der Dinge", Alberto de Campo, Hannes Hoelz, Julian Rohuber and students built little causal processes with two or more possible outcomes: For example, a series of falling domino stones could split into two, and thus provoke a random decision in the physical world. Which end of the process is reached determines which causal process is activated next, so a dynamic topology of invented causal relations emerges within the network of available elements. For the CTM.13 Exhibition, more than a dozen modules are carefully assembled into a relatively small space to create the image of a highly complex, sound-producing kinetic machine. "The Ways Things May Go" is a joint project between UdK Berlin (Alberto de Campo), HfK Bremen (Hannes Hoelzl), IMM Düsseldorf (Julian Rohrhuber) and Angewandte Wien (Nico Kirisits, Klaus Filip), and open for future extension.

The works in TWTMG shown at ctm 2013 are realized by students of Alberto de Campo / Hannes Hoelzl and guests.

List of works:

Alberto de Campo "Hamster-Gestüt"

Constantin Engelmann "Time To Say Goodbye"

Sascha Hanse "Assembly Line"

Katharina Hauke "Kniffel"

Sara & Dominik Hildebrand Marques Lopes "Horses On Fire"

Through its digital innovation in museums scheme, the SNS REAAL Fonds supports heritage institutions seeking to make their collections more accessible to the public through electronic storytelling.

The SNS REAAL Fonds and The New Institute brought together 13 such museums, three expert guests and 200 audience members at the Moving Stories seminar. The museums introduced their planned projects and discussed them with the experts and audience.

Game designer Kars Alfrink and artist Duncan Speakman also spoke about their work, and Harry van Vliet, a cross-media business lecturer at HU University of Applied Sciences Utrecht, analysed the digital innovation in museums scheme. The seminar followed a study day on 31 January at The New Institute, at which the museums received advice and suggestions relating to their digital narrative projects.

“You are conferring praise on me in advance.” He continued. “My work is only just beginning, and I would prefer that Rome should accept me when my labors are done.” (…) “In Rome there are two main classes of problems, problems of practical necessity and problems of moral grandeur. The first, consist in lack of houses and means of communications. This will be faced and solved immediately. The problem of greatness consists largely in removing the other problems, that Rome maybe worthy of her history and glory, which constantly renews itself. To do this we must have faith and tenacity, such as the ancient Romans had.”

‘The news is important: the "Via dei Fori Imperiali" as we know it today will soon be a memory. As far as the archaeological excavations, pride of the Pre-Jubilee Rome, it would not have been realizable without the demolitions carried out during the Fascist period. That according to Prof. Adriano La Regina, the Archaeological Superintendent of Rome.'

ROME - Palazzo Braschi / Museo di Roma. Room 16. The Urban and Archaeological Landscapes: The Via dell’Impero, Via del Mare, Via delle Botteghe Oscure.
