These custom bat-mitzvah invitations were designed for the sweet Madeleine Hart. She and her parents didn't want anything too formal and stuffy feeling and I think these design elements from Envelopments helped create that feeling. They also wanted to incorporate the grandfather's painting somewhere.
We printed the full suite on a smooth ecru card stock & used both thermographic and digital printing techniques. Adding the thermography to the text on the invite created a special touch and made the invitation pop more. It is all about the details! To incorporate the painting we printed it digitally on the back of the invitation.

Fright/Sleep/Shift/Taste/Offering/Slow/Down Clown digital prints, objects, commodity food, prints are 11”x17” each. (2000)
Fright Sleep Taste Offering Slow Down Clown (2000) are a series of archival digital prints on paper created after moving from the plains to the Midwest in 1998. The images represent a variety of concerns revolving around my travels back and fourth between Oklahoma, Texas, Minnesota, and Wisconsin. Many of the photos are interpretations of stories told by my grandparents, documentation of family gatherings, and images from pow-wows. Juxtaposed over the photos are gesture drawings and diagrams. The diagrams in the photo/drawings represent how contemporary society attempts to provide answers by analyzing cultures.
This was a series of fully-digital printed mailings that were customized to customers based on their car preferences, recent visit to a dealership, or a request for information. This shot shows the format adapted to two different audiences.
