My Weeping Cherry tree seems to echo my feelings of outrage and sadness as I think of the destruction and horror that is being visited on the people of Ukraine by a dictator gone mad, Putin. I am inspired by the courage and determination of Ukrainians as they defend their right to exist as a country in peace. God save them from the aggressor!
I haven't worked in monochrome for a long time, so I thought a photo just taken with my iPhone on an August walk called for black & white. In mid-August signs of autumn start to make themselves known. The misty day matched my mood; too much news of the day had entered my consciousness, and I was feeling in kind of a funk. There is nothing like a walk with your faithful dog to brighten your mood.

So, every thing started at the moment I saw the original photograph of those beautiful hydrangeas taken by my dear friend Richard Eshelby.
The digital painting is created from scratch in Corel Painter.
The background is the mixture of several textures, and the hydrangeas coming out of the frame are .png images.
No AI is used in this image.

Above is a trail that I walk sometimes. Over time that land has been collapsing showing its rocky part. I am very careful now that I saw how fragile the edge of the path is, where the tree is without any support.

The bobcat (Lynx rufus), also known as the red lynx, is a medium-sized cat native to North America. The small tufts on a bobcat's ears are difficult to spot at even moderate distance. The bobcat is crepuscular, and is active mostly during twilight.

A cherry bloom from a dwarf cherry tree in our yard. These are sometimes referred to as a faux cherry due to the bright pink mix.
The city I live in has 350,000 cherry trees in bloom this week.
Texture and effect created in ON1.

Such a nice surprise to see a new bird at the feeder, especially one so beautiful. On a gray, wet day, 2 males sporting their bright breeding plumage were like little spots of sunlight.

There is a late medieval stone bridge in Alloway, Scotland that crosses the River Doon. It is very near the birthplace of Robert Burns who immortalized this bridge in his poem, "Tam o 'Shanter". The late afternoon light makes it appear that you cross this bridge into your dreams.

I have been experiencing a lot of frustration using Flickr over the last few weeks. For me, it has been very slow to download images and often leaving comments and even faves is problematic, so I must apologize to my Flickr friends for not being as active as I would like. After doing a little research, it appears that Smugmug, the new owners of the Flickr website, are working on renovations which in the long run will make Flickr a more enjoyable experience for all. In the meantime ... Aargh! So I must express my gratitude to all of you for your visits, comments, faves and inspiration! They are so appreciated!!
