One year into the brutal armed conflict in Sudan, and the impact on children has been devastating, with 4 million displaced from their homes – including Shaimaa, a 14-year-old girl. Forced to flee from Khartoum when the war broke out, she and her family sought safety in Kosti, White Nile state, a journey of over 300 kilometers.
Shaimaa yearns to return home to her old life, friends and school. But with no end to this conflict yet in sight, she is grateful for the protection, support and learning opportunities that she finds in her Makanna.
Through funding from Education Cannot Wait (ECW) and the Government of Canada, holistic services are provided daily at the Makanna by UNICEF, Sadagaat, JASMAR and the Ministry of Education. From e-learning and psychosocial services to water, sanitation and hygiene, partners are working together to ensure a whole-of-child response reaches Shaimaa and other vulnerable children in the country.

Retaining talents is one of the biggest challenges in the corporate world. Despite every effort, corporates now have a hard time to retain employees and achieve their strategic business goals.
In the current business landscape, Millennial generation also known as Gen Y represents a major proportion of the workforce. Typically, they keep on switching their jobs throughout their career. One of the major reasons for this could be the ineffective learning and development initiatives. And traditional training approaches may not address their learning needs and preferences. Therefore, it essential to assess, review and modify the learning and development practices to effectively develop Millennial talent. The best solution would be to devise online training based on modern instructional design.

Today’s children are born in a Tech World. Their education should prepare them for this digital world.
Apart from school readiness, the technology integrated curriculum will help them to acquire the 21st century skills.
Gadgets should not be a ‘Pacifier’ or ‘tool to keep them engaged’, so that parents can have their own time.
Technology is a boon, if the right resources are used in a right way.
