Happy Slider Sunday
This is a digital composite of several tattoo shops, store mannequins, along with the tree on the street in one of my favorite places to shoot--Ybor City. Ybor is an historical area in Tampa. In its early days, it was the highlight of the cigar factories and home to many Cuban and italian immigrants. Over the years it has changed its focus to artist colony to clubs and now again more art studios.
One of my favorite artists who was born in Ybor is Ferdie Pacheco. He was also Mohammed Ali's ring doctor. He is an amazing man.
Ybor has an amazing history besides the cigar factories--ghosts, secret tunnels, mafioso, etc. If you are interested in learning more, just google Ybor City.
Abstract digital art, created in ProCreate (an iPad app.) I usually adjust images I create on my iPad in Photoshop or another software enhancement program, but this was created totally in ProCreate.
I had this app for months, but hadn't played with it much. This was just an experiment. I thought my image had a rather childlike quality that reminded me of a playful dance. I lived in Brazil for several years, so my first thought was that it reminded me of a samba.

Digital Nikon D3200. June 2014. Fjalladýrð (Mountain Glory) Möðrudal Iceland.
For centuries, a church stood in Mödrudalur whose parish included three farms in the upper Jökuldalur valley despite the distance. The present church , dedicated in 1949, was built by the farmer Jón Stefánsson ( 1880 - 1971) himself, in memory of his wife, Þórunn Vilhjálmsdóttir ( 1874 - 1944). He also painted the altar piece himself - the Sermon on the Mount. Jón Stefansson was ,,one of a kind"; warm hearted and welcoming person. H specially liked to invite people to the church and sang and played with all his heart. He left his good spirit to Mödrudalur and this beautyful church. His son Stefán Jónsson ( 1908 - 1994) a uniqe character as well, also liked to paint and became famous for his paintings in Iceland. He often used the view of Herðubreið mountain as a naive motif. abstract digital art:
all elements of this image were created by me
I've had an idea about painting on canvas and then using a needle to poke through the canvas and add threads to the image. It's fun to try it digitally to see what it might look like. My idea was to have the threads all hang vertically and be lose at the bottom. It seems that horizontal threads would either have to be stretched straight across the canvas or hang in lose arcs unless I stitch in and out of the canvas to made them wavy. Or perhaps I can have the threads cross over each other, so it is impossible to tell which thread is which.
October 19, 2018: I've finally gotten around to woking on a handmade work based on this image. It is actually quite different in color, composition and even in the shape of the canvas (square). Once it is completed, I'll take a photo and post it, then add a link to it here. It will probably take me a few more days to complete it.

Spoiler Alert!
This is a sneak peak of Digital Wizards' current project (in production). I have been on the set with Director, Writer and Animator Paul Hollingsworth assisting with the filming of the to be titled LEGO Avengers movie. Initially, I was only "commissioned" to re-create the Chitauri Leviathan in BIONICLE/HERO FACTORY format, but I have taken on a more active role in filming. I have been a quick study. Who knew that watching all those DVD/Blu-ray extras would come in handy.
This was a full length image of the Leviathan. We were utilizing a green screen technique for post production image manipulation.
Model: Chitauri Leviathan
Dimensions: L: 30 in W: 20 in H: 10 in
Builder: Norbert Labuguen
Photographer: Paul Hollingsworth
The MOC was registered for BrickCon 2012 in the SuperHeroes Theme. It won the Trophy-Mobile Award.
My first collaboration with Digital Wizards was on their Lord of the Rings movie project where I had the movie credit of Balrog Creature Keeper. The Balrog that I created also followed the Hero Factory format but not as grand as the Avengers Chitauri Leviathan.
