BAGHDAD – A Soldier from the 7th Iraqi Army works to dig a trench for a new shower drainage pipe at Camp Yassir April 11. Many 7th IA Soldiers have the expertise – but lack the confidence – to fix basic maintenance issues at the Camp. A team of subject matter experts from the 101st Engineer Battalion spent 10 days at the camp working with the IA Soldiers stationed there, guiding them through fixing many of the plumbing, electrical, heating, ventilating and air conditioning issues that the Camp is experiencing. The training helped give the IA Solders the confidence to be able to fix the problems on their own in the future. (U.S. Army photo by Spc. Brian Johnson, 1434th Eng. Co., 16th Eng. Bde., USD-C)

I have decided to try action nature photography using a Diana F+. In this case a crab has just emerged from his tunnel to throw another bit of dirt on the pile.
I laid on the beach two weeks ago watching this guy for a long time. It was fun. He'd just surface throw out some sand and keep going deeper.
I only had the Diana so I took a long shot and tried to capture him.
Had a wonderful long weekend on the coast with the family! So grateful for time together, and time just watching the kiddos learn & play and have a blast.
This was in Louisiana when the Ant Lab at LSU was commissioned by a British TV show to dig up a leaf cutter ant nest. This species, Atta texana, is the only one that occurs in North America.
This was in Louisiana when the Ant Lab at LSU was commissioned by a British TV show to dig up a leaf cutter ant nest. This species, Atta texana, is the only one that occurs in North America and Louisiana is the leaf cutter ant's most northern range.
The ants are moving these leaves into their nest to be chewed up to grow a fungus which they then consume as food! How cool!
This man is digging a hole for the emergency latrine that we want to install, it has to be at least four meters deep! It's amazing how hard these people worked and how fast the emergency latrines could be implemented!
