The Cuypers Library is the largest and oldest historical art library in The Netherlands. Beams of sunlight spill through the 3 stained glass windows, bathing the books in a soft glow. A spiral staircase curls in the corner like a metal ribbon, letting bibliophiles and art history buffs wind their way throughout the different levels.
The Cuypers Library is a research library in Amsterdam’s famous Rijksmuseum. It is the oldest and largest of its kind in the country and aesthetically astounding. However, despite the streams of tourists that flow through the museum, far too few seem to trickle into its remarkable reading room.
The 19th-century library, which has recently been restored, has been collecting content since 1885. Its shelves are stocked with manuscripts bound to entice any art history lover. While browsing its extensive collection, you’ll come across books, journals, and periodicals, as well as catalogues about art auctions, exhibitions, trades, and collections.
Thousands of books crowd the shelves, creating what resembles a wallpaper peppered with colourful bindings.
Technical stuff
This is a 3xp HDR image. The shots span a range of + and – 2 stops. This resulted in: 2500ISO, f6,4, 1/15+1/60+1/250 and 16mils.
The post-production HDR work was done with Aurora HDR 2018. After that the final prep work was done with PS CC. This included using the Clarity tool, balancing the lighting with de Curves tool and converting the image to Black-and-White. Finally, I added some copyright signs (in PS). The latter is, alas, there to stay due to the fact that my photos were frequently copied. So, don't bother commenting on that.
On of my favourite things in Cobh is the so-called ‘Deck of Cards’. The 23 houses were built on a very steep hill on 23 different levels and each one differs in colour from its neighbour.

This scene made me remember that impressive performance of Sly And the Family Stone. That song is still as powerfull as it was a long long time ago.

Yet another view from the Barbican highwalk - I'll keep posting until I've exhausted every angle!
Still quite grumpy on my way in to the office today. I drafted an email to my boss which I then sat on all day, and narrowly avoided chickening out of sending. Got a nice message from her this evening, with a promise to talk it all through soon.
Went for a haircut at lunchtime - very happy with the result again. It's so good to have found such a good (and good value) hairdresser :) Incredibly windy and rainy on the way home again though, so messed it all up in my woolly hat.

NSUI's Relentless Struggle For The Rights And .
-·----· ... ~· · ..... -...... ·-·. Interests Of The Student Community In JNU .
The National Students' Union of India (NSUI) has the distinction of being the largest democratic and secula r.
student organization in the world representing the aspirations of mii.Jions ofstudents. Since inception, we have.
.
stood to protect the rights and interest of the student community irrespective of caste, religion and gender.NSUI has committed itself to ensure that grass root leaders emerge to give voice to the sentiments of thestudents. At present NSUI has a million plus registered members, 45000 elected office bearers at differentlevels and 7500 committees in various colleges around the country. The unit of the NSUI has been functioning in JNU since 1971 carrying forward the tradition of the IndianNational Congress and its student organizations like the "Chhatra Parishad.. and the "Kerala Students Union".From its very inception, the NSUI has been at the forefront of fighting both left wing extremism and right wingreactionism. The fight against anti-nationalists, communalists and naxals has been well chronicled.both inside.
the campus and outside itJNU !JSUI has a rich history of student activism conce'rning various social, politicaland economic issues of national and international importance. It has been an active participant in the strugglefor the rights and interests ofthe student community in JNU. When the other organizations (left and right wing)were crying for their ideological clout after the crackdown of lyngdoh in JNU, .
NSUI has been constantlystruggling for the student issues Few achievements of NSUI in the course ofNSUI's recent struggles are:Makine JNU a WI-FI enabled campus:.
JNU NSUI initiated the struggle for WI-FI in the campus since 2008 by strongly demanding for WI-FIfacility for the students. NSUI conducted a mass signature campaign for WI -Fl in the campus to put pressureon the authorities to ensure that the legitimate demands of the students were heard. Students of other .
universities like Hyderabad Central University for instance have benefitted fro~ this facility. In 2009, j NU NSUIinvited Shri. Sachin Pilot (Minister of State for communications and information technology) for a publicmeeting in Koyna hostel and submitted a memorandum to him strongly demanding for WI-Fl facility.Consequently, after persevering in this effort, Minister of State for communications Sh. Sachin Pilotsigned a MOU with JNU VC in 2010, so that JNU can host a WI-FI network of its own. We are glad that thisMOU has achieved its First stage, as academic complexes in JNU are now fully WI-FI enabled. It is highly unfortunate that unlike campuses of other central universities, hostels and other public spaces in aprestigious institution like JNU are not WI-FI enabled. We make the contention that JNU suffers from such lack.
of facilities and infrastructure because of unbalanced rhetorical anti-development agenda of the leftorganizations like SFI and AISA in campus. Since time immemorial, left organizations in the country have beenagainst development and technology in particular including tractors, computers etc, but still they hypocriticallyclaim to be working for the rights of the people. This hypocrisy of left is apparent in JNU too where they have·consistently opposed development of infrastructure in the name of opposing privatization. NSUI stronglyappeals to the student community to reject the hypocritical anti-development agenda ofleft wing organizationsin the campus.Second list for admissions in JNU:Itis noteworthy that INU NSUJ was the first oreanization which stronely demanded for brineine out thesecond list of adm, issi.ons in INU so that instead of wastine a number of seats. many of the deservingstudents can eet admission in INU. J.t bad a lso demanded that .full quota of OBC. SC. SI and PH seatsshould be fulfilled throueh a second list. To eet this done we pressed these demands in many meetineswith the Rector Prof. Sudha Pai and finally she agreed to our demand. In the second admission list came out in 2011, 158 candidates got selected in total, out ofwhich 69 areunreserved candidates, 22 SC students, 36 OBC students, 5 ST students and Z7 PH students. Students.
have·been admitted in all programs including Bachelor, Masters and Mphii/Phd. This second list has certainlycorrected the skewed admission intake and has improved the social balance of the new batch by taking goodnumber ofstudents from SC, ST, OBC and PH categories. lntroducine UGC Non-Net scholarship in INU: The UGC Non-Net scholarship was introduced fo4 the first time not only in JNU, but in all the centraluniversities in India, after a relentless struggle led by JNU N~UI pressurizing the MHRO. Realizing the.
