Jeune femme tenant un bâton d'encens, les pieds dans l'eau du fleuve Bramhapoutre, à l'aube à la fête hindouiste de Gunow Utsav sur les berges du Bramhapoutre à Dibrugarh, état d'Assam, Inde.
Dès la veille au soir des foules considérables se sont massées sur les berges du fleuve, sur des kilomètres, apportant quantités d'offrandes sous forme de fruits, de fleurs et de victuailles diverses. Des milliers de petites lampes à huile ont été allumées sur les rives ou sur de petit radeaux improvisés qui flottent au fil de l'eau, en un spectacle fascinant .
Toute la nuit les pèlerins resteront ainsi assemblés en une cérémonie à la fois religieuse, conviviale et festive.
Le matin, bien avant le lever du soleil, des milliers de fidèles, essentiellement des femmes, parées de leurs plus beaux saris somptueusement colorés, descendent dans le fleuve et resteront ainsi en prière durant plusieurs heures , tenant en mains des bâtons d'encens, dans l'eau jusqu'aux genoux, .
Dès les premières lueurs du jour, la cérémonie est terminée, les pèlerins sortent de l'eau et la foule se disperse peu à peu dans une ambiance joyeuse et bon enfant.

Haciendo acopio del título de la novela de Martínez Pisón y de la película de Martínez Lázaro, hoy prefiero refugiarme en estas carreteras secundarias y cerrar los ojos y los oídos, al menos hoy a tanta corruptela política y financiera.
Aunque no lo parezca, todos los días cojo una carretera secundaria. En este vía es cuando relajo el cable del acelerador y, en esta carretera secundaria, como tantas otras de este país y de la propia existencia, no hay andenes, ni árboles ni zonas de descanso. Sólo hay kilómetros y kilómetros de gris asfalto. Cada día mí tramo…sin mirar atrás…y no encuentro un atajo. En cierto modo la vida es una carretera secundaria, un paisaje conocido, un punto monótono, pero conocido, al que ya nos hemos acostumbrado y con un destino previsible. En los arcenes de las carreteras secundarias se van quedando las miradas pausadas, las que tienen tiempo de mirar a los lados porque la velocidad ha dejado de importar. Un coche con muchos kilómetros ya, pero que tira y pasa las revisiones. Es la posibilidad de un giro la que nos mantiene en ruta. Dicen que hay autopistas con muchos carriles, con zonas verdes, con fuentes y farolas, con carteles enormes que te guían pero, aunque solo sea por hoy yo sigo mi camino en mi carretera secundaria, sin luces…, sin ruedas de recambio… y creo que me va a dar la reserva de la gasolina.
Me parece que este año estoy más "depre" después de las vacaciones...En fin ahora llega la temible Navidad. Creo que me quedaré en la carretera secundaria, que me han dicho que la autopista va a un Centro Comercial supermegaguay y ¡Yo me lo quiero perder¡.

Finally after a long wait............12236 New Delhi - Dibrugarh Rajdhani gets an EMD (EMDGT46PAC) WDP4B 40006 of Tughlakabad shed ( TKD ) moving towards Anand Vihar , Delhi , in LHF( Long Hood Forward ) . This train had EMD as a Permanent Link but it was going with an ALCo Locomotive from the past 2-3 Months , so it was amazing to see it back with an EMD again after a long wait....................:)

Variants -
There are three variants of this loco - the original WDP-4 which is a 4,000 hp (2,980 kW) loco, the WDP-4B which is a 4,500 hp (3,360 kW)126 t (124 long tons; 139 short tons) weighted loco with a single cab and the newest WDP-4D which is a 4,500 hp (3,360 kW) loco with dual cabs.
Performance -
The WDP-4 is capable of hauling 24 coach trains at 110–120 km/hour. It has also been used for speed trials where it has hauled 8 coach trains at 160 km/hour.
The locomotives can be used in either direction, and frequently haul trains long hood forward, as in the picture. Newer editions with 4500 hp have been produced which have been named with the sub class WDP-4B /WDP-4D which have different traction control with six traction motors and are Co-Co bogie equipped (more similar to WDG-4), unlike the original which has a Bo-1-1-Bo arrangement with four traction motors. Due to some controversies regarding visibility hindrances faced by loco pilots in driving long hood front, the basic WDP-4B model has been modified to dual cab to eliminate any such possibility. Other features of WDP-4B and WDP-4D are same. The cabs have a slightly wider profiles, to improve visibility.
Some of the WDP-4B/WDP-4D are spotted having provision for an inverter-driven head-end power unit, allowing running trains without a generating car (EOG) for hotel power.
The loco is very fuel efficient and has minimal exhaust emissions unlike ALCO based locomotives, thanks to its 2 stroke high efficiency diesel engine. It is characterized by its loud horn, which can be heard for large distances around, and aircraft-like sound of its running engine.
