For interior tunes, we installed a Kenwood head unit with remote controls, five Diamond Audio amps, two Diamond Audio 15-inch subs, and five sets of mid and high speakers. To bring the party outside, we added an exterior underbody all weather audio system, as well as underbody lighting. We even added eight LCD screens, some to be watched from inside, and others to be seen from outside of the vehicle (check out the sunglasses in the exterior shot). Who else loves big old American iron? Cars like this are fun to look at, fun to ride in, and fun to work on! So today, we’re flashing back to 2008, when we upgraded the audio system, in this 1975 Hurst Oldsmobile, with a custom built sub enclosure with a pair of 12-inch Diamond subwoofers, 2000 watt Fusion amplifier (to power the subs), Kenwood speakers (in custom front kick panels), four 6x9 coax speakers (in the rear deck), and a JL Audio amplifier (to drive the speakers)! It was a fun project that helped to make this big Olds into one fun cruising machine! For today’s Transformation Tuesday, we'll take a closer look at our "Project Proton" Isuzu VehiCROSS. In order to install each side's twin Diamond Audio Hex Series tweeters, we modified the original A-pillar covers (using a combination of epoxy resin and polyester mesh) and painted them to match the truck’s exterior. We also fabricated brand new door panels (comprised of medium-density fiberboard, body filler, and fiberglass) to house a pair of Diamond Audio Hex Speakers, on each side. And of course, to reduce annoying rattles and ensure optimal sound quality, we completely wrapped the doors in Dynamat.

Big iron, big sound, big fun! Back in 2009, we put our custom fabrication skills to work, on this 1975 Chevy Caprice Classic convertible! First, we installed custom-built Plexiglas enclosures with mirrors, in the trunk, for two Diamond Audio D6 subwoofers and the amps. Then we fabricated custom build-outs, in the doors, to house two speakers and "Caprice Classic" logo panels with back lighting. And we installed a pair of Diamond Audio component speaker sets, with mids, in the doors, and tweeters, in the dash. This thing really rocked, and the owner had a blast cruising around town in his awesome party mobile!
