New Haven Railroad DEY-3 class ALCO S-1 diesel electric switcher # 0980 is seen with its crew while performing its daily switching duties in a yard, 1952. The engineer in his cab window is looking back at the camera and the employee on the end platform is also looking back too. The New Haven had 65 of these ALCO S-1 660 HP switchers, and they could turn up just about anywhere on the system. Notice the air whistle situated near the cab front.

New Haven Railroad DEY-3 class ALCO S-1 switcher # 0990 is seen while switching heavyweight passenger cars in yard area, ca late 1950's. The first two passenger cars appear to be parlor cars, followed by what appears to be Pennsylvania Railroad coaches. To the right a New Haven Office car is spotted on a siding. Check out the nice looking late 1950's vehicles that are parked on the left. Note that the parlor cars are painted in the later day gray Pullman paint scheme, much like NYC cars.

The Dey Street Concourse, a 350 foot-long, 27 foot-wide pedestrian tunnel, allows customers to walk underneath Dey Street between Broadway and Church Street without exiting the station complexes. This house was built between 1740-1750. At the time of the Revolutionary War, it was the home of Colonel Theunis Dey and his wife Hester. Theunis was a Colonel in the Bergen County militia, and was active politically in the Revolutionary War era. Hester also took part in the cause of Independence; she served on a committee of women who raised money for the "relief and encouragement of those brave Men of the Continental Army."
Dey Mansion served as General George Washington's Headquarters twice during the Revolutionary War: from July 1 - 29, 1780 and again from October 9 - November 27, 1780. Washington and his close aides, who he referred to as his "military family," occupied the east side of the house. Theunis and Hester Dey remained at the house with their children and occupied the rooms on the west side.
One of the officers staying with Washington at Dey Mansion was his aide-de-camp Alexander Hamilton.
