The Developing Good Governance in the Niger Delta programme draws on the commitment and expertise of five Nigerian NGOs with an abundance of experience of working with all stakeholders in the region. Working collaboratively, they present a unique opportunity to engage government, civil society and the oil industry in bringing about the huge changes in behaviour and practice which are pre-requisite to sustainable development.
The purpose of the project is better provision of basic services in the Niger Delta and the reduction of poverty. This is to be achieved through enhanced effectiveness of civil society in the Niger Delta to demand better governance, allied to improved capacity to deliver by civil servants, greater functional skills among service providers and improved understanding of the role and responsibilities of state and local government among all stakeholders. The focus of the project will be six local government authorities (LGAs) in the Niger Delta States in the three core Delta States of Bayelsa, Rivers and Delta. Interventions will be targeted at key sectors and vulnerable groups to ensure poverty focus.
Currently the project partnership is led by Academic Associates Peace Works (AAPW), Institute of Human Rights and Humanitarian Law and the Living Earth Foundation (UK) with additional support from Kobiri Development Foundation (KDF).
This five-year programme is funded by DFID’s Global Transparency Fund and will run from 2008 to 2013.

East Croydon is developing with large tower blocks of offices and flats being built. Croydon is a major area with offices in South London. This is something which started with the building of The Whitgift Centre in 1963-64 on the site of Trinity School of John Whitgift. What the old boy would have thought of Croydon and its changes since he died in 1596 one can only speculate.
There was a odd, hardened white crust on the beach that day and the waters were very silty. Wasn't sure how it'd render in B&W, but the textures came out well.

I found my son playing with the IPOD when he was supposed to be asleep in bed. Did I scold him? No way. I ran for the camera and caught some "unexpected light" shots :)
How could I get mad at a face that sweet?
