NOTE: This picture is a tribute to Richard Amsel who was a popular artist in America during the seventies and the eighties he designed posters for classic films such as Indiana jones raiders of the lost ark and The Sting but the poster he did for Mad Max beyond thunderdome would be his last and to me personally his best and in a league of it's own just like all of his other art work. I have always wanted to draw the original but was'nt ready at the time so i waited a bit. A brillant artist who's artwork for the mad max movie has always fasinated me since i was young.A talent sadly cut short drawing this picture was a challenge.

A Catedral de Salamanca, em Espanha, possui um curioso pormenor na sua fachada: uma escultura de um astronauta. Esta figura encontra-se talhada na Porta de Ramos, na entrada norte da Catedral Nova.
Apesar de a catedral ter sido construída entre 1513 e 1733, a escultura do astronauta é, na realidade, uma adição moderna. Foi acrescentada durante um restauro realizado em 1992. O pedreiro Miguel Romero, sob orientação do arquiteto Jerómio García de Quiñones, esculpiu a figura como parte de uma tradição de incluir elementos contemporâneos durante trabalhos de restauro em igrejas antigas.
A escultura representa um astronauta com botas, capacete e um sistema de respiração, segurando uma vara com a mão direita e apoiando-se numa folha com a esquerda. Este pormenor inusitado tornou-se uma atração turística e fonte de curiosidade, levando muitos visitantes a especular sobre a sua origem e significado.

It was done on brown paper using brown and white colour pencil.
This sketch study was very insightful in understanding the the human body and its mechanics something Michael angelo knew very well about.
Getting the proportions right was a major factor in my study, certain mark were made to determine where all thebody linked, a variation of curves boxed and straight lines were used.

I paid close detail to the tonal values and posture in this drawing.

This pencil drawing was done on A2 paper.
One of my main strengths are detail so i tested my observation skills for this piece.
Apposed to revealing the wholeness of each object I focused more on each one individually. I analyzed the varied levels of tone, contrast, contours and paterns within them.
Each object lent good insight into various techniques that can be used to help build a well illustrated drawing.
