The eyes might roll back in some people’s heads when the see these beasties forging on flowers and most are hoping that they keep their distance from any wood structure that they might have. Not your basic Bumblebee here, but the more destructive Eastern Carpenter Bee. They were busy gathering up nectar from the blossoms on the Vitex Tree and made for a decent capture. Photo taken at El. Franco Lee Park.

Storms...it can be violent, destructive, and frightening. However, just like life, there are two sides to just about everything. The beauty of storms is undeniable. Dark, towering clouds rolling in, often tinged with hues of gray, blue, and even green, create a mesmerizing sky. Lightning bolts slicing through the darkness, illuminating the clouds and the landscape in brief, brilliant flashes, add to the dramatic scene. The sight of rain falling in sheets, sometimes backlit by the sun, is both soothing and awe-inspiring. And after you have braced yourself, the cleasening nature of storms renews you!

Mind, of destructive taste
I choose...to stroll amongst the waste
That was your heart
Lost in the dark
Call off the chase
You opened fire, and your mark was true
You opened fire, aim my smilin' skull at you
You opened fire...
I live tomorrow, you'll not follow
As you wallow in a sea of sorrow
Gray squirrels, like their fellow squirrels, are pretty destructive creatures, and not something I ordinarily photograph. They are a presence in every forest and urban property alike. But on a day when spring seemed poised to begin, the activity of the squirrels caught my eye. Sometimes they pose in a way that captures the lower quarter of the woods in a perfect way.

In Japan we are witnessing the destructive power of nature... Everybody out there should somehow show their compassion for the victims of this disaster.
The horror we are seeing is the result of our naive belief that we can do with this planet whatever we want. But we can't. If we keep on living this way the rest of the world will suffer just the way Japan is right now. Stand up for the earth!

When an oversized Jar Jar Binks is on the loose only Godzilla stands in the way of his destructive clumsiness.
“Heyo tiny people! Mesa back! Bombad J.J. gonna teach you a lesson”
The Clumsy Creature is out for revenge but Godzilla is nearby signing autographs (using a very large pen of course) and he does not like that Jar Jar is bothering his own fans.
The King of Monsters has no patience for the King of Idiots so he grabs the Clumsy Creature’s long ears and tears him apart.
Jar Jar will be back. He always does for he is protected by the most powerful plot armor in existence. But today he won’t bother people any more :)
Some time ago I posted a photo of Godzilla action figure fighting against Jar Jar ( here is the link if you are curious: www.flickr.com/photos/133750589@N08/24925721582/in/photos... ) and I promised to make an image of Godzilla defeating him :)
However I run into a couple of problems since this Godzilla figure has a good articulation nearly everywhere except on the legs and finding a nice pose for the scene was not easy.
In the end I went for perhaps the most simple of the poses :)
I hope you like it :)
May the Force be with You :)
We got about four inches of snow in Virginia today. It was beautiful and unusual and (unfortunately) destructive. So many trees in the Shenandoah Valley still have leaves, so there were lots of split trees, branches down and powerlines taken out. We lost power for a while, but all is well now.
My most excellent husband drove me around this morning (even though he has a cold) so I could take a few photos of the fall foliage covered with snow. My most excellent husband also invented something to help me get out into the snow despite a defective foot. You see, last Sunday we went hiking and I somehow obtained the mother of all blisters on my left heel. On Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, I wore dress shoes and did my normal workouts. By Thursday, I could no longer walk and ended up at the doctor's office - for a flipping blister. Anyhow... to make a long story short, I can't wear any shoes that put pressure on my heel for a few more days. Ever try walking in the snow in open shoes? It's not fun. So Adam invented 'Ghetto Gaiters'. Basically, they're socks with plastic grocery bags over them shoved inside the neon green crocs that I (typically) only wear as 'camp shoes' when we're backpacking. They weren't pretty. They weren't particularly warm. But my feet stayed dry and my blister continues to heal... and I got the shots I wanted.
I wish the snow hadn't been falling so hard when I was shooting, but oh well...

"i watch the flames rise,
they devour everything in their path.
Destructive, yet pure; dark, yet breathtaking.
Swiftly consuming life among them,
they flow, like water among rocks.
liquidating what's left in their path."
well hey everyone!! so this was NOT my original concept whatsoever...i took over 200 images and as i began to compile them together, i realized i wanted to take a completely different direction.. but i am so happy with how it turned out!! this picture was inspired by Lorde's song "Buzzcut Season"
www.youtube.com/watch?v=s2jieTAMFLI
I don't know why but the first lyrics of this song really inspired me, "I remember when your head caught flame
It kissed your scalp and caressed your brain"
for whatever reason...it inspired me to get up off of my butt and create this.
Rachel Baran's Photograph
www.flickr.com/photos/beee33/9413255934/lightbox/
was a major inspiration for me when creating this, so thank you rachel!! she helped me get inspired again. i messaged her the other day and we talked about inspiration and getting out of a photo rut and she made me realize, you just need to push yourself and do it. no excuses, no lame reasons, just do it! and i'm really happy i did! i hope you all enjoy :)
ps... i burned myself like 500 times and almost lit myself on fire multiple times...oops!!
The other day, I did another wander about in downtown Hamilton, Ontario and I decided to see if I could get anything interesting in the area around the corner of Cannon St East and Hughson. As it turned out, there were a few pedestrians about walking past the striking trademark green wall of the Active Green and Ross building. I parked myself in the position that gave me the composition I wanted and waited. Eventually a woman totally engaged in her cell phone walked into the frame. The combination of the horizontal bands produced by the wall’s paint, the sidewalk and the dedicated bike lane, were what appealed to me. - JW

Because of destructive action by Oliver Cromwell's Puritans in the 1650s most medieval stained glass windows in English churches was destroyed. The vast majority of stained glass in churches now dates from the latter half of the 19th century, when many churches underwent substantial restoration, or later.
This is the Church of St Mary the Virgin at Woodford in Northamptonshire. The church itself dates from the mid-12th century, and much of the interior dates from the 13th and 14th centuries. But not the glass in this window!
Mining Destroys Native Cultures
Often portrayed in romanticized terms, mining was very destructive to the Native people of Alaska & the Yukon Territory. The sudden influx of large numbers of non-Native miners brought disease & crime. The lands that Native people relied for food & shelter were overrun & stolen by miners & mining companies. Local habitat for fish & wildlife was destroyed & polluted from mining activities.
Loss of land, massive population collapse from disease, introduction of alcohol, & the erosion of traditional social structures eventually leads to the degradation of Native cultures living in mining regions. Although some Natives participated in & profited from the mining-based economy, the damage suffered to individuals, & their families & culture, was substantial
Exiles in their own land: theft of Native lands in Juneau
Juneau was constructed upon the territory of the Áak'w Kwáan Tlingit. Once the mining town was founded in 1880, commercial & private interests took over Native lands, sometimes through negotiations, but usually by disregarding Native claims to property. When the Aak'w people left their homes to harvest fish & food, non-natives saw the land as unused or abandoned. When land sales were negotiated, the transactions were often corrupt & unfair. Áak'w Kwáan leaders resisted until they were simply overrun & feared violent retribution.

”Ladies and gentlemen, I will be blunt, because we haven't much time left. As you are likely aware, the Central American Secession Area bombed one of our top military bases two days ago with what we've confirmed to be some form of growth accelerating wave emitter and a cocktail of genetically modified plants engineered to be highly destructive. Our attempts to cut back and contain the growing plants have failed, and burning was reserved as a last resort but ultimately failed as the GMOs secrete flame-retardant mucus. In these two days, they have completely engulfed several cities. Within the last seven hours, they crossed our borders into Canada. Obviously, CASA and their affiliate defense provider Aether Phylltech Incorporated do not intend to stop with punishing East-USA, they have decided it is time to expand their territory. It is reasonable to believe they will not see any reason not to attempt the EU in the future... Besides surrender, our only option is to destroy the growth area. Our intel in CASA, which we're very lucky to to have, has sent us a file pertaining to the “Green Tide” bomb and its progeny. It is very technical; in short it outlines the mechanism and how to disarm it. It is a two-step process: the bomb itself, which emits an energized signal that sends hyperexpanded matter to plants containing a certain artificial gene, must be remotely deactivated from CASA. Secondly, all the plants in Green Tide's arsenal are engineered with a special genetic subprotocol that kills the organism when a certain “key protein” is introduced in a specified amount to the organism's system. CASA no doubt will turn off their bomb and kill the green wave when they are ready to occupy our land, but it will be too late for us at that point. I have called you together to evaluate and brainstorm a means of infiltrating CASA, deactivating the wave bomb, and retrieving the coded protein and information about the proper amount to administer it in. I need not tell you that this will be difficult. Our spies have managed to hack a few images through CASA's firewalls, but we really have no idea what CASA has done recently, as they began to block orbital cameras a few years back. However, intel has sent us a number of files pertaining to their border defenses, which are invaluable. All drones sent to investigate have lost transmission before their cameras could get a glimpse, and neither they nor the brave souls who tried to see it in person have ever returned.
There is a wall that encloses the entirety of CASA. Each fencepost stands fifteen feet tall and fifteen feet away from the next one. The actual wall consists of three horizontal rods, reaching a height of nine feet. A total of six metallic pods sit on the rods of each wall segment, and from these grow a type of climbing ivy that has been engineered to convert excess sunlight into electrical energy, effectively electrifying the fence. Like most API patented GMO organisms, they secrete flame-retardant mucus, so we cannot simply burn down the wall.
Atop every post is a motion sensor and light, except every fifth post...those are topped instead by a long-range electromagnetic pulse railgun outfitted with a camera and chemical laser cannon. The EMP has a range of 750 yards, while the laser cannon remains powerful for long enough to shoot down a high-altitude airplane. The specifications here note that the electro-ivy will discharge to power these defenses when the wall is not under attack, but they are also powered by an auxiliary generator within a complex several miles from the wall.
I know what some of you are thinking: Tunnel under! Sadly, we cannot. If you'll direct your attention to the conference screen, you will see CASA's primary border defense. The wall is secondary, though without the guns we could easily fly over.
This...monster...is noted here as one of the more complex experiments API has released for CASA's use. I will quote: 'Subject 491: Dionaea Muscipula extensively modified to enhance size, maneuverability, speed, and environmental durability for purposes of national security. Modifications include, in the following order:
Hormonal Controls: Modified to reject humans (fingers used to trigger trap mechanism) wearing patent #236 security pheromones except when otherwise prompted.
Size: Accelerated and assisted crossbreeding of largest organisms per crop to create a 50x specimen after 672 generations in 1.28 years.
Speed: Accelerated the organism's metabolism using Procedure 43.
Mobility and Structure: Modified genome content to replace cellulose in individual cell walls with cartilage and/or keratin. Flame-retardant mucus #4 was designed to be secreted. Extra space in stem, basal, and root structures due to size increases was redesigned to incorporate tension joints patterned after muscle structures in the trunk of an elephant. A more complicated nervous system with ganglia spread throughout the organism was implemented. Bipedal structures from class Aves and a caudal appendage for balance were carefully replicated using the organism's tissues and grafted to it. Reverse gene-sequencing procedures were followed to replicate the organism naturally.
Reproductive Inhibitors: Organism was modified to allow reproduction only through budding to create exact clones, three times, when fully mature. The buds will detach and take root; the adult will feed them until the first one to uproot itself kills the others for food right before the adult dies.
Instinct, Behavior, and Final Controls: The organism's ganglia were imprinted with subprotocols enabling dexterity in locomotion and battle and instinctual confining parameters of patrol except when triggered by any of the range of applicable control pheromones, hormones, and code proteins listed in the API GMO control directory. A more specific command to place a portion of any prey it captures by the pylons of the border fence so they could collect the biodegrading matter to fertilize the defense ivy was also included.'
Ladies and gentlemen, I would like to say that is is moments like these that make me regret running for the presidency.
Another build for BL3. I think I'm starting to get into a running theme that isn't too realistic for my taste, but still refreshingly natural. "Natural".

One of the most destructive farming practices was slash and burn, which was deforestation. Man’s agricultural activity could have caused climate change over 5000 years ago. These practices released large amounts of green house gases. Though they can't be compare with today's emissions but were large enough to increase the temperature by few Fahrenheit. Another destructive practice has been growing methane-bubbling crops. Methane is a very potent greenhouse gas; 23 times more effective in trapping heat than carbon dioxide CO2. Rice paddy fields are one of the major contributors of methane today. Rice was grown in large quantities even then so there must have been sufficient levels of methane, which could originate a possibility of climate change, thousands of years ago. William Ruddiman, a scientist who strongly believes man caused climate change several centuries ago. How? The practice of slash and burn made it possible. Man burnt down large area of forest covers and then used as his farm. Man shifted when his land productivity decreased as there was no need for people to take up efficient methods of cultivation. Land was present in excess so they were constantly on a move. It was later when population increased to a large number, the pressure to have high yields in lesser amount of land rose. Ruddiman examined the air bubbles, trapped in polar ice 5000 years ago, and found unexpected increases in carbon dioxide and methane. World methane production due to paddy fields has been estimated to be in the range of 50 to 100 million tonnes per annum. This level of greenhouse gas generation is a large component of the global warming threat produced from an expanding human population. But there's hope, recent studies have shown that methane can be significantly reduced while also boosting crop yield by draining the paddies allowing the soil to aerate, which interrupts methane production. German Max-Planck-Institute for Terrestrial Microbiology, identified a group of microbes that play a big role in producing these emissions. The microbes absorb carbon released by the plants roots and use it to make methane, which is then released into the soil and emitted from there into the atmosphere. Until now, nobody knew which specific microbes were responsible for this process. More study is needed.
Despite Laos small population, undeveloped mineral deposits, and forest covering nearly 70 percent of the country, Lao's forests are threatened. Slash-and-burn agriculture, uncontrolled fires, commercial and illegal logging, and fuelwood collection resulted in the loss of 6.8 percent of the country's forests between 1990 and 2005. The deforestation rate has increased moderately since the close of the 1990s, but there is concern that the shift from a command economy toward a market-oriented economy will put increasing pressure on the forest resources of Laos. Despite these hurdles, there is hope for conservation in Laos. In an effort to protect the country's species richness, Laos recently established 18 National Biodiversity Conservation Areas including one known as Nakai Nam Theum National Biodiversity Area in the mountainous border area near Vietnam. During the 1990s researchers in this protected area discovered a new genus of cattle-like mammal along with two deer-like species. Photo of paddy fields taken on Don Khong island in the Mekong river.
Belangrijke beestjes kortom. Maar meer studie is nodig.

The unfathomably destructive machine that is Neolith Corp. PMC, - shortly NCM, -
relies heavily on automated systems - it's more likely to see a AI-driven vehicle rather than a living being on the battlefield. That refers to all types of units - drone infantry is also a thing.
Neolith Corp. produce and use countless models of UV's - here are displayed only some of them. These names were given by the living NCM soldiers and maintenance crews - smaller drone models rarely get an official poetic name.

So here's some AI-guys that I built for Dronuary 2025. Inspired heavily by Devid VII's builds. His recent works are simple fire, got me to start cookin' too.
Today, who cares about myself?
I'll live in denial
And I'll beat up my head
And I'll eat all the chocolate
Today..
cuz you're not around
Today...
you won't be around
I can't control my feelings
I sip on dreams and choke on real things
Detach myself for preservation
I struggle to not want you.

Laquila Castle is one of the most impressive Italian Castles of the Renaissance period and is situated in the Abruzzo region of Italy. In 1528, Filiberto of Orange ordered the building of a fortress at the highest point North of Aquila to punish its citizens in response to their rebellious behaviour.
The Castle consisted of four bastions connected by walls 60 meters long surmounted by great “merlons”. These massive structures had openings, which allowed the castles archers and cannon to unleash their destructive firepower upon the besieging army below. A trench 23 meters wide and 14 meters deep was excavated around L’Aquila. Its purpose was to defend the castle and help protect it from the opposing armies’ artillery. The angle of the ditch’s walls would deflect any cannon shot from harms way.
Each of the four bastions consisted of two independent environments called “case matte”- self-contained garrisons. Water for the castle was obtained via the town’s aqueduct, which had its course, altered to first flow into the castle then onto the town.
A special feature of this Italian castle was an anti-mine corridor (a space set between the inner and outer walls which could only be transgressed by one person at a time) The purpose of the corridor was to help defend the castle in case of engineers tunnelling under the foundations and leaving mines.
Laquila Castle was built not for defensive purposes but to control the city, with most of the castles cannon pointing towards the city. The cannons were never used in anger but remained silent throughout the history of the castle.
