Red Footed Falcon - Falco Vespertinus

Wiltshire

The Red-footed Falcon is a gregarious bird of prey usually found in flocks. It often breeds in colonies, and sometimes solitary, using abandoned Corvidae or raptors’ nests.

It is an eastern European species and a long-distance migrant that winters in southern Africa. It feeds mainly on insects, but the chicks are mostly fed with small vertebrates.

The Red-footed Falcon is very close to Amur Falcon which was formerly a subspecies of F. vespertinus.

The population is decreasing due to habitat destruction and the species is currently listed as Near Threatened.

The Red-footed Falcon breeds in C Europe from Estonia, Slovakia and Hungary, E through NC Asia to extreme NW China and upper R Lena.

It winters in SW Africa, from Angola, Namibia and N South Africa, through Botswana to Zambia and Zimbabwe.

HABITAT:

The Red-footed Falcon breeds in wooded steppes, valleys, clearings, cultivated areas and pastures with clumps or fringes of trees, riparian woodlands, orchards, marshy lands and open taiga. It breeds usually in lowlands, but up to 1500 metres of elevation in Asia.

During winter in SW Africa, it frequents grasslands, savanna and scrubland. They form large nightime roosts in groves of eucalypts, but also in towns and villages. Several thousands of birds may gather at communal roosts.

STOP THE WAR against Democracy and Freedom

and the vile destruction of essential infrastructure in Ukraine!

Milkweeds are commonly infested by the oleander aphid, Aphis nerii. These little insects suck the sap out of stems, leaves, and can cause flowers and pods to abort, and can even kill plants. They concentrate milkweed toxins in their tissue more effectively than native milkweed aphids, and studies have shown that beneficial insects are less effective at controlling them. Aphids can be many colors, such as green, black, brown, pink, yellow, white, and blue (really?) and even furry ( wooly aphids ).

The Krall Barn is believed to be the oldest existing log barn in Lebanon County. The effort to save it first kicked off in 2007, when the structure, then located east of Schaefferstown, was saved from destruction by a cooperating owner, Howard Scharff, who worked with Schaefferstown’s Bill Ross by offering to donate the barn if it was dismantled. The way it stands now, most of the exterior of the Krall Barn is nearly complete. But there are many smaller, inside projects yet to be tackled. The education center is expected to make it easier for visitors to enjoy their time at the 110 acre historic site that features three locks of the Union Canal, an engineering feat visited by none less than President George Washington himself during its construction.

The day of the LORD is at hand; it shall come as a destruction from the Almighty.

"Laugh at the wonder of it all

Laugh so loud you break the fall

And you see the gathering clouds

Cry at the sadness of the world

Cry so long you break its cold

And you hear the gathering sounds

Do everything you fear

In this there's power

Fear is not to be afraid of"

Thank you very much for all your kind messages and comments on my last photo. We are safe and sound. The hurricane passed a little bit farther, so it was only a lot of rain and puddles, but no wind, at least here.

Sadly, there were destruction on the coast of the beautiful Riviera Maya. Now, Delta is approaching the coast of the Louisiana, Hope no human losses are given there.

A (happy) Monochrome Bokeh Thursday for everyone!

I've seen many forests destroyed by human and his brainless greediness, but this one, located in National Park of High Tatras was affected by several natural disasters, like severe storms and fires. Spruce forests in Smokovec are recovering slowly and hopefully, one day, they will restore their previous glory.

2 Thessalonians 2:3 “You must not let anyone deceive you at all. For that is not until the rebellion takes place and the embodiment of disobedience makes his appearance—he (the antichrist) who is doomed to destruction.”

When you accept violence

When you accept things against your own conscience

When you let yourself be hurt

When you do what you know you don't like:

Then you lose yourself

You shatter into a thousand pieces

And you are not alive.

The purpose of this photo is to leave this message. Think about it.

Reworking on an old 2011 shot of a couple of the Twelve Apostles on the Great Ocean Road in Australia.

The southern ocean takes its toll on these wonderful limestone sea stacks each year, eroding them further so that eventually they all crumble into the sea.

This post features a hud. The hud is a Combat Hud inspired by Dragon Ball Super anime character beerus, which causes big explosions and damage! Very fun to have.

With so many being homeless and in utter torment for their lives this year throughout the world I thought it appropriate to give a shout out to them and tell them that we on Flickr really care! And I want to especially thank Robbi Robbins (brillianthues) for allowing me to use one of her beautiful works.

Abandoned Industrial Site

Psalm 91:6-7 King James Version (KJV)

6 Nor for the pestilence that walketh in darkness; nor for the destruction that wasteth at noonday.

7 A thousand shall fall at thy side, and ten thousand at thy right hand; but it shall not come nigh thee.

It is all change at our local business quarter. The ITT Canon building has been demolished and there is action on site day and night for something new.

Four and a half miles out from Ruby beach towers an island in the shape of a skeletal human hand. It's 80' above sea level and 33 acres around. On this sunless day the name didn't help its gloomy appearance accentuated by an abandoned 92' lighthouse standing darkly in the distance like something straight out of the Lord of the Rings. The reefs around the island are known to have claimed three ships over the years, but that's not where the name came from. In the late 1700's two different ships twelve years apart sent a long boat to shore to collect wood and water, neither returned.

Today, visiting the island is prohibited to all but research scientists who go there to check up on what is almost the Tufted Puffin's last stand in Washington State. They make their homes by burrowing into the loose soil atop the sandstone beneath and have no natural predators as there are no eagles or hawks out there.

For you Fresnel Lens fans, the original light, in service from 1892-1995, was rescued and is preserved and displayed at the Westport Maritime Museum. It's beautiful.

Thinking especially of all of those who have lost homes and belongings and those without electricity and especially thinking of my very good friend, Fiona Larkins who I hope is safe and sound with her family. Storm Desmond has disrupted schools, hospitals and transport and has caused wide destruction and havoc.

Thank you for your kind visit. Have a wonderful and beautiful day! xo💜💜

You! Rising up against nature and challenging the very essence of your existence, just who do you think you are! Hiding behind a smokescreen of lies and acting on your clouded judgements, nature will eventually cleanse the world of your misdeeds.

For Lewis the main interest of a toy is its destruction, but sometimes he plays for a while. This toy is solid, so it does not stay interesting for long.
